  1. I always find it humorous, if you're fragile enough that for fun group joke items like a chest or vroom deathly offend you to the point you wish for bans, no offence but that's quite a thin mmorpg skin. I did some wow mmorpg tanking and quite often if i had trash dps who did 4k dps, stood in fire and died to my 20-40k tank dps and 40k-70k BFA dps spec dps, i'd often just solo the entire dungeon without em. Heck i started off playing some 'underpowered' specs so i optimized the crap out of them to the point people thought my off meta spec doing 2x their damage of a poorly played meta spec was 'broken' despite requiring 4x more apm, gear optimizations and key presses for their rotations. Ironically i remember when they went about "havoc DH is braindead", they took on the spec and DASHED off a cliff lmao.. So yeah. At least gw2. no matter how bad someone is at their spec or their preference to advocate for auto attack ones to be skill. 🤣, just remember that people in gw2 are yet to have their auto targeting abilties yeet them off cliffs and die with gliders around lmao. (Though, i did see a couple mechs walk off the edge of a cliff in dragon fall when the raid leader flew over lmao. )
  2. In Wow i'd just recommend taking a look at a gear optimizer and looking for a good rune with good results but maybe 0.1% less paper dps but most people there even know how to use one, much less likely here. It's probably fair to say that if a snowcrows raid build might not work for fractals, a fractal page even if the build is mostly 80-90% identical maybe a couple clicks or a tree swapped out might be good to consult. Other power builds commonly run rune of the scholar which gives +5% increased strike damage above 90% hp that might be fair to look into as a subsitute to mess around with a golem. But if you want to deviate from a build, sometimes you might need to run a few minutes of your own research and test a build out. Or just.. Do whatever the heights of the average gw2 player feels like doing anyways.
  3. If the only way they'll add hidable shoes is a 1000-3000g rare drop. What would make undergarment tmogs a player shouldn't see without unequipping their gear sell enough to justify the model? Is it a troll post or literal advocation for like. 20$ jade bot vs jade bikini shenanigans (???) Also what would charr even wear. Actually don't answer that.
  4. The only people who care about untradable wardrobe unlocks are probably fashionscape players or people with nearly full collections of armor and only the expensive ones left. But I just usually like to preview ones I might like from the bank first before investing into one.
  5. Alright there we go. 35k dps is the 4 button DPS spec. 100% alac is when the same player decides to talent into alacrity because the class can provide 100% while some other alac specs are fiddly/unreliable alac and nobody in their right mind takes 50% alac over 100% when you want 100% for a group. And as for the rotation. the dps is different but its a build 1/4th the rotation size of most other builds. The other classes rotations have 30 part sequences for openers, theres just a 7 part priority which is more buttons on a rifle with a made kit. Im going to copy paste the info so that should make it more accessible to those who don't click links. Power Alacrity Mechanist provides its subgroup with permanent Alacrity, 25 stacks of Might and Fury whilst dealing as much Power Damage as possible. Power Alacrity Mechanist is additionally able to passively generate a small amount of Barrier as well as decent uptimes on other boons: ~38% Protection as well as access to Stability once every 24 seconds. It also has naturally access to moderately high amounts of Breakbar damage. https://snowcrows.com/builds/engineer/mechanist/power-alacrity-mechanist The dps is 25k because you change talents but play more than one class and people will pretty much unanimously say their class's also being finnicky. Tied to spirits or not reliable enough to put on demand is more of a other class alac concern than mechanists complaining alac or 35k dps is a lie... They are separate but trivially easy to save two builds and maybe a couple trinkets to switch between. Do you even play other classes, by chance?
  6. I mean I'd they'd at least give me a nudge on what's apparently "false" or fake news it'd give a hintm all sources to videos are provided. The 32k afk mace mechanism has been posted with direct links numerous times. The 35k for 4 buttons mechanism link is there numerous times. The person afking alac mechanism to type 'Google your fursona quiz' as well as a guide on how to play mechanist and getting a challenge mode 0:52 or 0:53 speed kill floats around. The "rifle alac build that doesn't exist" exists, ( https://snowcrows.com/builds/engineer/mechanist/power-alacrity-mechanist ). So please, if someone is actually interested in any sources you can ask for it or see them nearly everywhere. But it doesn't seem like fake news to say it literally can excel at taking over pug spots, as its basically a class that trivalizes many forms of content meant to be executed with the distraction of a hard to master "piano rotation", so to speak, while having golem results that translates well into raid encounters and has Many players flat out joke state they microwaved burritos to 20-28k afk dps very often and got better dps results. The forums can be a place where " i can't reed, u loos, WORD BAD dumdum" can be thrown as a argument. So I'd like to know if they don't actually care and just want to play the class longer for personal reasons or if they couldn't find a linked inches away video link etc of whatever their lie was. Unless joking about developing telepathy was interpreted to need to be a literal argument... 😂
  7. Anet needs to release their anniversary sale asap, with good stuff and living world and character slots on sale. The last years on the wiki it went by sale like Aug 7th sometimes, so it'd be a good distraction to have some good sales going on they could make money instead of pissing off everyone with ads a palooza haha. XD
  8. Yes yes. The mechanist afking to 28-32k dps is a lie because you couldn't find the video that was posted 4 times... Let me guess, they beat one of your benches for playing by being inactive so it's a "lie", or they achieved the result, but another person didn't? Even for a afk as in literally AWAY from keyboard.. there's still people who get 25k pressing buttons vs 28k people who don't even touch it. How is a miracle of science, but seeing as you specify 0, if you want the video of the spec man. Just link the number and what build it was and i can link the snowcrows 25k power rifle mechanist 100% alac video or the 28k rifle afk video or the 32k afk mace autoattacker video or the 35k mech 4 button rotation video... Still doesn't change that it's a inherant paradox to make "challenging content" also "afkable and beatable on one hand". I mean there's still curves to entry but when it comes to videos it's not that hard to find a collection of feats. I was told that the fourms wanted less pictures so there's a video if you want. He hits 40k-35k in the video at points quite a fair bit for only 4 button rotation and while you can argue the mech should be controlled, it's still a pretty easymode spec to each class and anyone with half a brain installing arc and watching pug meters can see a problem with the class dominating pugs with minimal effort for a good reason. You can still beat bad players, you can also talk to them too and ask them what they did and "I walked my dog" or "i went to microwave a burrito".. are NOT.. made up examples for 25k mechanists afking to the #1-9 spots in pug metas or raids to a #8 10k-20k dps warrior as the 2nd best in a open meta of 50. While watching people #15-50 fall off 5-10k dps to 0.5k-4k dps bricks.
  9. There's a short forced tutorial in EOD where you're forced to learn about break bars, and dodging, and most open world content as noted by many players. Is made to be literally auto attackable in the core world. You learn about break bars, then realize they were like.. years late and not really as relevant post eod anymore with better boon coverage / more focus on personal dps / alacity + 25 might + quickness +- maybe 20-25 vulnerability, etc. (Some randomly cobbled no build guide / Complete random core/no ability builds might do like.. 1-3k flailing blind dps, and give very little indication to the player. Other than if mobs sometimes respawn at about the same time you spend killing them. That might be a sign your build is in the 2k dps range like a ungeared toon without arc to realize it. ) Some of the complaints about arc might be lost since.. Honestly i'd get it whenever you do a meta.. Finding out like the dragon ends that were 4% shy of succeeding were only having 10 pug players do like 10k-25k dps or better and 40 / (80%) players doing 0.5-8k was kinda jarring. It isn't a matter of like a 30k casual vs 40k snowcrow gap. It's more like 90% of players do 2-8k dps while thinking they're 20k-80k dps instead and the leaderboard is always the same 10 mechs who discuss that they spent the fight microwaving a burrito, leaving a fight to walk the dog, or played one handed to get 2x the dps of the 5 year old ele who's proud of his spec. But only does half the dps of the burrito microwaving 28k dps player. (And then there are some 2-10x 0.5K-2k DPS players who i have legitimate 0 idea on HOW is even possible.. as not even green autos should be that low. )
  10. Anyways to avoid sidetracks. If a group brings 7-9 mechanists. Because they can provide 100% alacity on one alac player, Rifle or mace, doesn't matter. I consider it 7-9 mechanist players. I don't consider Rifle or mace seperate specializations any more than i consider Mallyx Shortbow Renegade / Kalia AxeMace renegade to be seperate builds every 10 second weapon swap. It's pretty normal for other classes to include weapon swaps as parts of base rotations. So someone using a mace they literally get for free in offslot or using their power rifle for both builds is considered a same spec to me. When there's 7-9 mechanists in a group, but not many of the other classes, and yet still have their autos buffed 20%. I still kinda see that as a bit iffy. Class 'diversity' does not mean Make the other 8 classes ditch eles/warriors to become 8-9 mechs for afk 28-32k dps, 35k 4 button dps, 25k 100% alac dps, maybe a HAM for heals and 1 firebrand for fury/quickness because it's the only few boons the mech's don't autoprovide when stacked. Compare that to someone trying to play a willbender and just saying their raid leader didn't even acknowledge the spec existed and kicked them, regardless of being willing to try them or not from the guardian fourms. Balance should mean bringing the player, not the class imo.
  11. There's been some interesting and pretty funny cosplays that people have figured out. One circulating on Reddit was someone who figured out how to make a SPIDERMAN cosplay of all things haha. I always imagine that if a major name is taken like most MMORPGs, you could always make your own character if Peter Parker and Petey Parkeyr are taken as well as Spiderdude and Splider mlan. As mentioned there's always those weird ascii symbols maybe, but honestly it's been pretty easy to get nice names in gw2. Character slots on the other hands for 5/9 mains however...
  12. Hmm yes, expecting telepathy from the fourms for responding to a comment i see? So you asked about numbers, and then went "AHAH. i wasn't talking about numbers at all, I WAS THINKING OF SOMETHING ENTIRELY ELSE SHERLOCK" 🙄 Alright, so i just had to develop telepathy to argue on the fourms to detect that. No in fact.. the numbers you were talking about.. from the linked videos.. Weren't in fact the numbers you were talking about. But you wanted a entirely different bench for the same spec but with slightly different build selections or sometimes weapons. Anyways, i know a common problem is mechanist players only play one spec or class. But you realize it's pretty trivially easy for just about anyone from any other mmorpg to adjust.. their build on a fly.. especially when it's a pretty routine thing. You get weapons for near free for unlocking, sometimes you even use the same. The actually hilarious thing is all the videos. I consider.. Are actually pretty plainly linked. As mentioned, the peormance levels for what players have achieved via afking. Which is literally described as Away from keyboard, not misreading part of a fourm post to agree with yourself (Not that it's new to me on a internet game's fourm where afk builds are optimal), but as far as video game builds go in general go. It's a literal away from keyboard, AFK build. For the 28k-32k mentioned with video links. They were attached with video clips and you could read them anytime. You can declare yourself the winner of any show you want to, but i'm can always feel free to roll my eyes as well, drink my coffee and move on to another post. I pretty much swap my open world to raiding to dungeon builds pretty much any time or on the fly between shiro and invocation because one has pretty handy self heals, the others has better raid energy for ability management. I dont' consider them new builds personally because it's the same class and pretty trivally easy to change weapons or change talents or click a preset. Plus it's pretty common for average people joining a raid who join as mech to offer 3 options at once, Power rifle, alacity power rifle, Heal alacity mechanist. I'm going to already predict the future, predict you will not read this post, argue with a fictional version of me. (Go nuts, it's your head), and im gonna get back to sipping my coffee and not giving a care of what you think haha. it's video game fourms. Where I can read less words than U can be a "winning" argument lmao.
  13. Unlimited character makeover kit and +2 character slots for anyone who hits 10 years playtime or 2000 hours of play plz 🙂 , jk, but would be nice. Maybe a 10 pack untradable dye kit of 10 untradable rare or better colors you don't own?
  14. I mean mind you, the dps numbers are actually in the dps linked or findable if you dig around enough 28k for afking with rifle 32k dps from this player for afking with a mace 28-32k dps will clear a lot of content when the average pug is like in wild 5-20k ranges when it comes to hitting the field. And the 35k is just for adding 4-7 buttons with optimization added. They're not too hard to hit. They're called afk for away from keyboard because they are actually literally away from keyboard 32K. Before even the mech auto ability patch which adds more...away from keyboard ability.. Can you even spot their mouse moving on the screen?
  15. But they need that 1/10 of a cent ad revenue more than they need one player spending 15$ literally being worth 15000 of them. We gotta lose 3000 new players x 15$ cheapest xpac= 45000$ to make uh 40000 pissed off players x 0.1 cent ad = 40$ people. Think. Just think, you can annoy 1000x the people for 1/100th the revenue people!!! What's the point of bad business decisions if you don't get to make them? 😂
  16. Yes, power alacity mechanist, is totally not quite comparable. I mean. Other classes have to change talents routinely for encounters for solo vs open world vs boon play. Mechanist sometimes can need to equip the same weapon or a mace it gets for free or provides alacrity with a rifle anyways by maybe swapping put free laurel /ez fractal bitter frost trinkets. This solves the balance issue of other classes having to fight for roles when mechanist takes 7-9 in a 10 man group. Because sometimes the mechanist will get lost walking to the raid. Or forget their own 100% alacity +25 might + fury + 38% Protection + stability + barrier + 25k support dps power rifle build For one signer for a grenade. https://snowcrows.com/builds/engineer/mechanist/power-alacrity-mechanist This is less to cherry pick but more over some of these 'mythical builds that don't exist but do' are right there... Does revenant turn into a new class every 10 seconds it has to do a weapon swap on condi to get it's dots and 75 energy used or change a weapon from a shortbow into a axe, mace, or staff, or needs to worry about which stance it needs to use for a fractal? Mechanist competes for 90% of roles while 90% of classes compete for 11-33%, that's like the definition of class imbalance is when... There's less reason to bring all 8 vs stack 8 once for pugs. Whether or not the alacity mechanic likes to use a mace that comes free with their spec or a rifle is pretty much the same for me. The reason we don't need a separate mace mechanist thread is most people can see the same class as the same thing. Just like revenant doesn't become a different class every 10 second when it needs to change its weapon every 10 seconds and simultaneously always plan on having 20 energy for 50% alacity when it needs but less than 10 energy to be able to swap optimally... As well as catalyst pretty much needing to use 4-5 different move sets while exploding into fire when touched for god knows why?
  17. You do realize the other specs... Have 10 second weapon swaps on rotations as well as stance swaps and that any half decent player can extremely, trivially easily keep a weapon swap right? The "incredible difficulty of finding a second weapon swap"... Is literally the snowcrows rotation that I have to do to drain 75 energy in under 10 seconds or else my ability proc will not provide me with energy on swap unless I am below 10 energy. Otherwise using the ability to provide 50% alacrity will literally cancel out half of the energy you require for a renegade rotation as well as the condi runes which literally only reach the benchmark performances that beat afk mechanists if you use them on cool down every 10 seconds while memorizing a snowcrows energy optimization routine to provide alacrity while reaching 97-100% of the benchmark to tie. You can delay it 2-3 seconds without it, but then at 70-80% ability use, it's no longer beating the afk benchmark without a literal set. Hence your inconvenience to switch stats is literally other people's 10 second dps rotation and you also get your specs weapon for free so you shouldn't complain... Guess how easy it is to get a spec weapon for 30 hp vs find a viper mace for 30g and 500 weaponsmithing to add onto the 500 armorsmithing and 450 huntsman I needed to craft my viper affix and perform stat swaps with a ingredient list of 200 items vs... Using a weapon that literally drops for free when you train the spec and probably has a cheap eod spec collection achieve too.... Your guys are complaining about applying the effort that other classes do as 10 second rotations like its the greatest effort in your life.. I've already seen 5 mechanists join and offer three spec choices they had the gear for at once. Dps, alac dps, heal alac dps.. And then they kicked the old healer because they had alac heal dps.. You guys literally can consume 90% of raid roles while providing all boons with 1 firebrand and you're complaining you have to occasionally change... Weapons.. and you don't keep +25% movement speed when... You also teleport and self regenerate hp worth half a healer while your mech ignores cc mechanics like all other specs... And... The gear is 2-20g vs 300-400g + several hours of dead content dungeons for nightmare runes and Condi clipping and training 3 professions and needing to solo a group bounty no one was interestrf in to get my shortbow and.... Weapon swapping to a mace you get for FREE is.. ... Your biggest deal? (????) That's like telling someone happy to walk in the rain because they at least get to work that you also have a smoothie machine and have to occasionally file taxes. 😂, you guys really have so much for free its kinda getting ridiculous at this point how very easy mode the class is for you guys lmao. XD
  18. Oh i forgot, but yeah fair enough to miss. The 3k USD and 8k USD numbers are just for a fairly small (10k-27k users playing anytime) gacha egg opener game i used to mod for a couple of whales, like top 2 or so. I don't know the personal gw2 numbers but yeah i was always surprised to see even our small game pull in a couple people spending that much. But it's pretty well monetized. I was one of the volunteer discord admins who worked on the game to make sure that cross trading / (Players selling our items on ebay whether via hacks or other means etc), were caught up on. Our platform took a 75% cut of all profits, so the devs had to pay 5 people on a system where we needed to make 60,000$ to pay one mcwage (1000 hrs at 15$ a hr), at 75% tax. I think even with the whales, all our top 50-100 customers were like summed up to like 30k. Which was good if it wasn't taxed to 7.5k, half a mcWage for 5-15 people. (Modelers, translators, coders, localization, Testers, Admins/staff teams, etc. ) Anyways yeah, kinda off the point but pretty much. I don't personally like the whale model. But when it comes to having a person watch a literal 150 hours of ads or spending 15$ on a purchase. I think it's pretty realistic that more money could be lost turning away players than ads would recover. Ads mostly only work for youtubers since scale of numbers. When watching a ad is 1 tenth of a cent for 30 sec of your time, it's a pretty kitten poor 12 cents a hour. When 1000 people give you 1/10th of a cent, that's a dollar. When 1 million people do it, that's 1000$. Gw2 might not even have 300k people playing it monthly or not. I'm not sure. I know Wow's sub numbers used to be like 10M a month WOTLK/Peak to 1M WoD. Then they stopped releasing. If gw2 has as many players playing it as 10-30% of wow, that might be like 100k-300k monthly players or more, (or drastically less). who knows. If you made everyone watch a ad, and got say, 300$ a month, BUT 3 players in 300,000 (A VERY LIGHT NUMBER), say, quit and didn't spend 100$ on expansions after ads.. tl;dr You could easily end up losing money overall likely. So it might not even make logical sense from a $ monetization standpoint either. but who knows?
  19. ✅ Instant dps? ✅ Condi level power dps? (35k-37k instant dps vs 32k-37k Condi with 10-20 second ramp/clipping/ inability to have 90% of it's dot based dmg fall off if 1 add that needs to be killed in 1 second, needs to live over 7.5 seconds for a 15 second dot to do 50% of it's first applied dps?) ✅ Can be stacked to 40-90% of the 10 man raid group, and still provide nearly/pretty much every core raid boon like 100% alac, self quickness(jade dynamo), also teleport with +25% move speed just for fun i can assure you other classes weren't even asking about, Have self regeneration signets other classes aren't even talking about. While A 9 man vindicator group is just gonna be a group with 0 quickness or alacity? ✅ Will you be asked. "What class do you play? We need Alac dps." "I play willbender!" "WTH is that? Kicked" if you play a mechanist? Far as i've seen, we've had 4-7 mechanist groups where someone picked healer and they made the healer.. DPS.. because the mechanist could provide 100% alacity. As far as take every spot.. You guys realize that if you literally stack 9 vindicators or 9 boonless dps supports right. Not even guardians are too thrilled with a 4-9 mechanist for Self quickness / self might / Self barrier / Self alacity / Self teleports / Self health regeneration / 2 dodges comp next to 1 firebrand who's happy to be 1/10 but still has 2 meme or unviable specs.. And this is a Balance dev under the guise of a "diversity patch" that turned at least a warrior in there into a mechanist? I mean my class is better than most but i still hear horror stories even of. "I did it, i finally benched 37k on the golem with insert "obscure piano spec that 95% of players can't play right, i can't play to play it!" Raid leader: "So what spec do you play?" Them: "XYZ" Raid leader: "Eww, i don't even know what spec that is, 95% of people don't even play it right above 10k dps. I don't care if it gets 37k dps for 2% of the population. You're kicked, The mechanists im stacking 4-9 of can afk to 28-32k dps while providing might and barrier and self quickness and 1 firebrand is there just to provide the fury and quickness boons that are the only boons the mechanist's can't poop out in a stack of 9." So when you design a pyramid around 1 selfish dps needing 3-4 support/dps to provide their boons, and 1 dps can be stacked 4-9 times, it's pretty unsastifying to see class balance be neglected to go 10% mechanist to 40-90% mechanist as everyone and their dog abandons their other characters to afk a mechanist in raids.. And knowing that dps meters are regularly 9/10 topped by people who when asked about their rotation vs another player's 30 button cycle.. Will go. "i was top dps?? really? All i do is press 4 buttons. I was 2k dps a month ago but people told me to delete my ele because it was so bad. i want to play them again, could you plz carry me on your main plz? just because i press 4 buttons to do 30k dps doesn't mean my ele does 4k dps for 4 buttons. plz. i can't defeat basic elites for hero points, plz help me." 🙄 What else does the mech need to do that's free on top. Does it need to synthesize legendary equipment from thin air next. Have automatic teleports to all raid bosses, start with autoloot installed and a autogrind while offline mode added to it next to be considered. Maybe slightly a problem for class diversity to be 10% of the classes taking over 40-90% of raid spots(?) I mean.. If anet didn't want to design classes to be piano specs who had to solve calculus to pass 20k-37k rotations with memorized energy clips.. Maybe they should have like.. Designed 90% of their game.. to not be the piano specs they designed(??).. Because they are the devs that literally make the game and can control the numbers and could just as easily slide the numbers on each underperforming pug random to do 10k-20k mins instead of whatever these 2-8k trashers in the 50-80% median are.. And holy crap i don't even know what the 4 0.5k-2k dps "dps players" under the 15k-20k dps healer are doing either. Do you guys look at public group stats with arc dps by the way? it's a whole lot worse than a 37k-40k gap.. There's like literally seas of people who do 0.5k-4k for the bottom 50% dps of open world metas on soo won. There'll be like only 12 people in a average pug sea of 50 people who even read above the 10k mark sometimes. and 9 will be 9 afk mechanists in the 20k-35k range. the other 3 will be like.. One normal player who's good at their class in the 20k-30k range usually. maybe a 15k-20k warrior still holding out. and then like 38/50 players doing 4k-0.5k dps damage.. or 0.2k dps.. at lvl 80 in EOD.
  20. I guess i got carried away, but a point was, someone spending 3000$ on cosmetics in a game because they could, offers the same revenue as making 30,000 people watch a hour of ads for 12 cents a hour... I don't advocate for p2w.. But when it comes to funding, which do you think is more lucrative? 1. Making 30,000 players spend 15$ on a expansion they can buy once, play forever. 2. Making 2-10 players watch 150 hours of ads in a row at 12 cents a hour.... While being review bombed to the Beyond and back. XD No one sane (should) watch 150 hours of ads over paying a 10$ bill unless they literally have no credit card/gift card access.
  21. Some classes literally or quite often will have weapon swaps as well as 10-30 ordered snowcrow rotations in order to meet the snowcrow benches. These include things like 10 button opener sequences, Mallyx Shortbow swaps with 10-14 ability rotation priorities including lists of where to cancel the mallyx aura to provide the 20 energy neccesary to provide boons, as well as perform the snowcrow golem rotations to achieve 32k-35k on other classes, as well as Kalia Mace/axe swaps which then add another 10-14 button closing sequence. Because you need to activate your sigils that trigger bleeding and swapping by changing your stances every 10 seconds to reset your energy, plan about the availability of energy to cast your core boons which only have 50% uptime on non mechanist classes, as well as consider each stance's interaction between viper and ritualist and celestial gear for boon uptime vs condi dps on 50% uptime and the group tradeoff vs individual. Other classes will have to consider about 30 abilities in sequences to meet the snowcrows dps portion while also being happy they can provide one boon (50% alacity and occasional 3 seconds of 20% vulnerability once every like 20 seconds. ) The mechanist laughs because they have to change a weapon set once while that's pretty much every 10 seconds for other people's rotation. So. Uh yeah. having complaint threads you need to put as much work into changing a role as other classes who are aware they're better off than 0 boon classes for 50% uptime do think it's a little silly you guys complain so much about a weapon swap is a bit iffy. 😛 Also my bad, the rifle build is 28k afk, the afk mace build a month ago before the auto abilities and +20% rifle buff was doing 32k afking WITHOUT mech autocast abilities. my bad. Oh, so you guys only provide all boons, also teleport, and do 5 roles most classes are happy to get 1/3rd of because they're not ele and warrior. And this is good for class balance, because it's the class you play. got it. 😛 Why not just simplify the character creation mode, so instead of displaying 9 specs, it has a difficulty slider. Easy mode selects mechanists. Medium selects any other spec. Hard mode selects Elementalist and their specs get nerfed 10-20% every patch even when they aren't being played. 😛
  22. I mean, switching talents is hardly far from what other classes are expected to do. Many classes of the other 8/9 are lucky enough to maybe have 1/2 roles in a spec or class even. Even guardian, who considers itself lucky with firebrand will say. "I'm really dissapointed with the state of classes honestly. While firebrand is good for boons, what is the point of willbender? It doesn't do dps, it doesn't do good boons. It doesn't provide any good things that make it desireable to a team. and the same can be said for dragon hunter, these classes are pretty much only undesirable to bring to a group, and when i told that i would be playing a willbender to provide a boon here, the raid leader laughed and kicked me." - Guardian fourms. Pretty much, if you're designing the game to be accessible, they created a scenario where one class in 9 can go afk, the other 8 have to perform piano rotations with 10k-35k golem ranges that often become 10k-25k upper 50% raid or strike dps ranges in practice. In that case.. If they hate piano specs, why the crap were they choosing to design their game to make every OTHER spec a piano spec that unless it has a 30 button opener + 10 button rotation snowcrow rotation memorized for a golem.. If they didn't even like their own specs being designed like that? It's like choosing to design a sniper rifle that requires you to solve 4 calculus problems while simultaneously playing the piano with your feet, or else the sniper rifle will explode and lose the energy to provide alacity meter while being a glass cannon that dies from being sneezed on in melee range. While another person has a aimbot that solves every problem while options to also simultaneously heal for the complexity of another dps class doing half of their dps spec's weapon + stance 10-30 sequence snowcrow rotation loop to get 32k snowcrows dps to 35k mechanist 4 button dps. Basically in shorter words, 30 button snowcrow rotations memorized in sequence will get you the same results of a mechanist going afk and autoattacking from 0-1200 range. Everyone thinks they're a apm god, while 95% of players in a pug afk to 2-8k dps. If they want to raise the floor so it's a literal 15k-20k afk 30k-40k active playstyle. I have no problem with that. The problem is right now, one class takes the job of 8, while requiring fractions of effort. Since it's not balanced around 90% of a average player which would probably be like, 15-25k raid dps to be accessible, but 95% of a snowcrows 0.1% player bench. It's tuned to the point that probably 98% of pug players who do 2-10k dps to 15k-25k raid dps will probably perform more well, afking a 28k-32k dps afk benching mechanist, than a 30 button sequence weapon swapping snowcrows rotation guide for 3% more dps for 600% more effort. You can, but who will? Install arcdps and you'll see.. lots of people DRAMATICALLY underperform their classes not to 30k.. but 2-4k.. (Past #5.. sometimes people in strikes or raids aren't even passing 4k dps.. sometimes there's 4x 0.5k dps people i don't even know what's going on with. ) The mechanists will be able to afk to 28k ranged / 32k melee / 35k for 4 buttons while other specs can use 10-20. But since that uses multiple words, it's probably not going to be read, hmm. When you can achieve 97% of the results for 3% of the effort. Guess what class people will play. While also simultaneously saying. "There needs to be more challenging content in the game." "But it shouldn't be challenging enough i can't afk it while playing on one hand and eating a burrito" 🤔
  23. The 4 button rotation is 35k dps and the 0 button afk rotation 28k dps. Can just afk on a mechanist or watch a video if you want to. The alacity they can provide is also 100% uptime vs some alac specs being set to 50% uptime or less. It's enough of a skill disparity that on the engineer fourms, enough people are complaining akin to 'engineer is just as complicated as any other class. I still have to walk to the boss and press f to loot the gear. by that definition, it can't be afk. because i have to be there to COLLECT the loot' If someone's definition of "i can't be afk in a raid if i have to move the loot" is uh.. their bar for defining intensity in a class. I just have no words to say. All the features, and rotations of a engineer build can be summed in a 1-2 minute video. Press 1-4 buttons, or 0 if you prefer, do 28k-35k dps. Do more buttons to do 37k dps if you want or use burst buttons to get 40-44k dps that can't be clipped by mob invulnerability phases. lose 10-40% uptime walking to a 1200 range mob because you have 1200 range. And if the dps spot is filled, just go alac, heal alac, or range dps, condi level 35k-37k power dps which is inherantly INSTANT without drawback or 10-20+ seconds of ramp on 1 second lifetime mobs. Then when you talk they begin adding on. ' But you guys DON'T know how hard it is to play mechanist. on top of performing near top levels of dps for basically afking.. sometimes i lose my +25% default speed TELEPORTING with a signet. I have tons of advantages other classes fight for 1 of, that i have three of. If i still have to loot a boss, and walk to it, that means i can't be afk." Meanwhile while the mechanist's biggest worry is moving forward to press 1, w, and f to loot the boss. Catalysts are like spending 37 minute video guides to play a paper mache class that explodes if you sneeze on it, that got nerfed since 0.1% of the playerbase stacked them for 0.01% skill based content and like 2% of people played them let alone like found 5 to stack in a 9 class game. It's just simple numbers, when one class can be stacked to 4-9 numbers while providing all the core boons of each class (100% alacity vs 50% alacity, instant 35k-44k dps/burst on condi without the drawbacks of condi, 100% uptime with 1200 range without the drawbacks of melee having it's 5% higher bench get -40% reduced by downtime, lack of boons, desireability, etc.) it creates a situation where one class is far more desireable/stackable than the other 8/9, and one class can take 4/5 spots in a group while a selfish dps might only have 1-2 slots open per 4-5 boon dps if they want those 25 might 100% alac/quickness/vulnerability/fury stacks in a 5 man where they provide none. Basically, people will want a paradox. They want "challenging" content to exist that's harder then open world. But also want the "challenging content to be as easy as possible, preferably afk if possible too." and then say it's boring when they play a class that can automate the whole thing.. Seems like a paradox. How can you simultaneously create 'challenging' content that is 'challenging but afkable with no player interaction(??)
  24. Ads pay like 1/10th of a cent per 30 minute video and usually only pay per click precisely because of afking. But for 10$ to get 10,000 views for a person who needs to sell a product. That can be wonderful. Ballyboo in adventure quest was pretty much a button that told you "need easy extra gold or z tokens? Watch a ad at ballyboo's", it was limited to like 5x 30 second ads and gave like 1000 aq gold (3 fights worth), which probably would have paid for hosting a web game. Thing is, 3d game hosting sometimes usually more expensive I'm not sure if ads would even cover it. If ads pay like 0.1 cents per 30 seconds. Thats only 0.2 cents a minute, maybe 12 cents a hour. It might not even cover electricity costs, without clicks, just be a way to monetize a site to pay for web hosting. If it costs like 20$ to run a 4 man l4d2 server for 4 players in a month and you make them connect to maybe watch a hour of ads. You spent 20$ to make 0.12$. While pissing them off maybe. Probably not worth it for a paid mmorpg. People will laud whales but if one person spends 3000$ on their own whim for mount collections. Chiding what they may scream back is a hobby as much as a 15,000-40,000$ car or boat might come back. Then they might call the staff of said games slave workers or test how much they can flame the workers as you're forced to tolerate financial choices. But a singular whale in those games can probably literally fund what 3000 players watching a hour of ads could.. But whales create warped game design very easily. They don't seem to want money to be difficult to spend, and they don't want a f2p player to make them feel like a newb even if they beat them either. So it's a easy trap to create a p2w warped game that warps the game it's more a show of wallet throwing than it is gameplay. But I don't see why in earth they couldn't just list all mounts for sale anytime for someone to buy. Unless they have like some internal metrics that indicate drip feeding junk purchases makes internal sales higher. Which could easily swing 50 50 in either way honestly. (tl;dr: This post is just talking about a couple of whales dropping 8000$ on items just to have it 1 day sooner than whale2 who spent 3,000$ for the same items in our game. Vs making a player watch ads for 12 cents a hour. No (successful) game is gonna make a living solely off making people watch ads for 12 cents a hour..
  25. I hope they give us news soon. The last anniversary sales started Aug 7th sometimes.. Like a day or two in the past and weeks to ramp up, and I really want full ice blood for looting strikes and ls3 earmarked. I don't really want to wait for sales vs buy anytime same price and use as I need but. Its been months of waiting and the last time I missed 500-1500 gems on a purchase on the prime day sale, I missed 1500 gems by lack of being a literal half day over the 30 day policy because the customer service reponse time of 2 hours was literally enough to disqualify a return.. No cap. 😂
