  1. Ok Arenanet, we have to talk about game design. In an mmorpg you should avoid frustrating your players because they didn't fly to the next rift at the exact moment as everyone else. I myself get to rifts on time and have no real issues with it but this kind of design where the time to get to the next rift is so exact and unforgiving gives a bad impression of the game. Metas are good design because the community can chill together for 5-40 minutes together and work on things together. Even events during metas are slow enough so that most can get credit. I like rifts a lot by the way, it's a fun concept because of how it ties to Soto's story but revisit the line between frustration and fairness.
  2. Yes, please please please. I started the game last summer and this one of the things that still confuse the hell out of me to this day. It's like I'm playing FFXIV with its 2001 skins system.
  3. Thank you for the support for this! And thank you for bringing up the issue of gear lighting/colors changing by an extreme amount with the new DX11 engine. Something that looked light green in the dye menu all of a sudden looks grey with a hint of green in 99% of the places, except that one place with perfect lighting like Lion's Arch. The weird thing is that it's probably not DX11 causing the lighting issues, and more to do with a forced lighting option the devs are forcing on everyone. They should let us choose; options are always good for everyone.
  4. Just helping Anet here. Personally I will not buy more than 1 "wings" glider in the gem store. I'm more partial to the more creative ones like the Water bubble, the Eternal Mandala, and the Thousand Seas Gourd gliders. I'm looking at the Tanglewood glider and wish it was shaped differently; not angel wings number 50. What about you all? Are you fine with more angel wings or do you prefer the more original gliders?
  5. Would love to have new running animations per race. Or, if that's too much work, let us use other race's running animations. Wish I could use Norn's running animation on Sylvari.
  6. I actually want an underwater expansion that's not 100% underwater, maybe 20%-30% of the time. Just make the underwater area meaningful enough to go to it, but not live in it all the time.
  7. Meh, as a new player who's been all over Lion's arch and Bloodtide coast I'll pass on more pirate content.
  8. Ok everyone, it's something we love and hate, and it's one of those things we've come to love about the game, the skin lighting..... Anet should give us 2 modes for skin texture lighting, one where skin color stays consistent. Currently your skin glows like 10 levels depending on your location. Anet is too technical of an mmo dev to not be able to overcome this, specially their artists, it's all about the properties in the game's skin textures. I can't be the only one who would one a skin lighting/glow OPTION where you don't turn into the rainbow colors of the world comically.
  9. ai will become people's new religion, ai will be their creator. The less of that dystopia world we have the better.
  10. Friend, change that title lol. All I'll say is, as much as people want to play games with their 2008-2010 computers there's a point where these game services have to move on to newer tech to compete. Regular lobby multiplayer games are encroaching into the mmo market because of better visuals, graphics, and just freshness. I'm not saying we need GW3 in the next few years, but there will be a point where it will be needed. PS. I love GW2.
  11. Thank you. I'm too new to really talk but let's hope the next patches to SOTO will introduce deep and meaningful exploration to rival HoT.
  12. I'd like to learn, what do you consider fun? What do you miss from Pof and Hot?
  13. Thank you! I guess it's like how I have fear of heights in real life AND in games, I don't know how I get through Dark souls games..... Yeah I have an extreme fear of heights, when I play dark souls I always get the worst heavy heart feeling ever.
  14. O_o I never understood aracnophobia....what happens to the person? Like do the they freeze up? I know google exists, but having it explained and archived here leads to more awareness.
  15. I mean, sky archipelago is just one part of the new map, amnyta's completely new. If we only had sky archipelago I could agree with you, but that's not the case.
  16. GW3 will have to be made one day, whether it's next year or in 20 years. How about they keep GW2's world in GW3, you keep all your characters and absolutely everything you have in GW2 and you keep the same graphics, servers, etc. But expansions from now on will be made in the GW3 engine with GW3 graphics? The server will just load the version of the game depending on the area you load to. Everything from base game to SOTO would be loaded as GW2 but everything from GW3 forward would use GW3 character models and locations. Loading into GW3 you'll have less outfits, miniatures, etc, of course, but you'd be experiencing the new game without losing the old one. Just a thought for us and Anet to think about. I think Phantasy Star online did something similar with New Genesis. Thoughts? Please, remember this idea is for 10, 20, or even 30 years into the future.
  17. I just want to say that I wish the roses stayed open when weapons are sheathed, I like the flower effect on the weapon a lot, wish it was even more noticeable. There are plenty of toned down, generic, real-life type of weapons in the game already.
  18. When people complain about performance I always have an answer, make it an option you can turn on and off. Problems solved hehe.
  19. I started GW2 in june 2023 and love every bit of it; I've played mmorpgs such as Blade and soul, Final Fantasy XIV, Wakfu (strategy rpg) and ANY smart mmo company would do well to borrow from the competition. GW2 has great time of day (day to night) system, I'm glad they managed that, unlike Blade and soul. But what about the weather? There's rain sometimes but that's the limit of it. GW2 needs a better weather system; all you need to do is borrow what Final Fantasy XIV has and introduce it and go PAST IT in more meaningful ways than in XIV. Final Fantasy XI could give you some really good ideas on how to go about it, introduce weather related events, bosses, treasures, wet-clothing effect, introduce elements-based interactions like in Baldur's Gate. Like your attacks/skills do extra damage if you're a necro in central Tyria and the weather changed to "Poison clouds." I know elemental damage like in old school rpgs is a touchy subject but I'll leave it there. The point is, GW2 is the most dynamic open world mmorpg and improving it on it should be a key priority for Anet in my opinion. I want to see tornadoes, I want to see more rain in general. And we know it's possible within the game's engine since we saw it in Icebrood Saga with the blizzards. Give us rain weather in Shiverpeaks sometimes; give us fog in central Tyria, heck the game in general needs fog weather in every location. But again, they can go beyond real-life weather, they can introduce poison clouds weather, leaf-storm weather in Maguuma, cloud storms in SOTO locations, etc. And even create content around these weather patterns. But as a baseline we just need more weather in GW2 to create that open world dynamism that their competition has, like in Final Fantasy XIV or XI.
  20. People say there's harm, but what harm? The quality hasn't changed, the expansions just come out earlier now. I started GW2 in june 2023, made it to HoT, and then started SOTO in august. The quality of SOTO is as good as HoT. If people have disagree with SOTO please give examples instead of "ncsoft or anet is hurting GW2." Without examples those statements are empty. With examples Anet can read this and say "they're right, let's look into this."
  21. Yeah the game was super confusing for me at the start as well. My first mmo was an open world sandbox game called Wakfu and even that game tried to make early game in a way where people felt embraced and welcomed. Now, that game stopped the hand holding after the early game and made you enjoy a vast open world with no to little hand holding. The OP has a point, start of game needs to embrace the player better through showing them where to trade, how to fashion, where to re-enter character creator to redo our character's look, and things like that. They could also introduce an npc early on whom you have to talk to before doing more green story quests who explains to you what Renown hearts are better, how karma is used, etc. Asking in chat is nice and all but chat should be for advanced game questions, not simple stuff like where is the tradepost, where is ban, how does fashion work, etc
  22. 1. Rotate costumes in the Wizard's vault or through new system. How fast the outfits get rotated is up to Anet, but I feel like the game could give people who bought the game more fashion choices..than the basic gear we find around the game. 2. Same with mounts. As someone who bought all the expansions and living worlds recently and who doesn't mind supporting Anet through gem store, I feel like they could throw people a bone from time to time. At least those who did indeed buy their expansions. Maybe something like a 1 free outfit ticket per expansion bought. The only problem is how retro-active this would be.. Sometimes as companies we have to bite the bullet to grow the game (consumer base).
  23. Would love to see the "Comet Hammer Skin" in the store again, I regret not buying it :/
  24. Blade and soul comes to mind; an ncsoft grind to hell failure. Grind is good and keeps people around for sure, but not the kind that's bone-crushing and almost like a second real life job.
