  1. As per my other posts, I don’t think those requirements are in and of themselves a bad thing. I just think the “power budget” treats warrior’s mechanic as a 6th weapon skill and balances the weapon sets with that in mind and as it would any other weapon skill. I would argue that the weapon set should be balanced to stand more independently of the burst skill, and the burst skills need to be better rewarded for the costs of use since most have low pay off relative to the cost of use compared to other skills (usually a comparable pay off, but a higher cost of use due to the requirements surrounding adrenaline). The weapon kit is then restricted because they treat it as having 6 skills instead of 5, which leads to things like 100blades being useless because a weapon kit with a high-damaging 100b and arcing slice would be much stronger than other weapon bars, but if you only take the core 5 skills it’s a weak weapon. So we are getting screwed on both ends, for lack of a better phrase.

    pounce

Cross-mechanic balance becomes a whole rats nest of comparison issues. For example, the best use of the pet in competitive isn’t necessarily damage, but it’s ability to help you control the pacing of the fight while in a defensive positioning (as you mentioned). I would argue the rest of ranger’s weapon skills are balanced factoring in a lower power budget for their mechanic than Warrior (and so are most other classes). And that’s the fundamental argument I think. That warrior’s burst skills are over-weighted by the Devs when factoring in how to balance the class. For most weapons, either the cost of use doesn’t line up with what is in the game (for example, I would argue the cost of use of eviscerate is higher than pounce, and the payoff is arguably lower) or the weapon kit is under tuned because it factors in the burst skill as a part of the weapon kit instead of a mechanic (see; the incompetence of many weapons on Bladesworn because they don’t have their burst skill and are impotent without it). The question, then, is whether warrior’s mechanic deserves to be weighted so highly, to which I would respond no. I am obviously biased, but feel confident that this is not a biased stance to take. Though this post is already very long so I’m not going to include that here 😂
  3. Idk, tbh I have been taking a break. But if it is, I’m down with it 🙂

    pounce

You are correct. In wvw it will do more damage, in PvP it will do less. I’d still argue pounce wins in PvP, but as you said it’s not like it’s a massive margin. I would disagree with you about resource though. I believe our burst skills should be getting better bang for the cd and/or cast time due to resource requirement. Maybe not that much at level 1 (since that’s quite a low bar to clear), but level 2 and 3 should be getting exponential returns, not linear imo.
  5. I don’t want to think of nerfs, I want to think of buffs! Too much negativity irl, let’s all be positive until our hopes are dashed on the rocks of reality like the babies of our prehistoric ancestors during the winter solstice. Spell gets +50% damage vs boonless foes on breaching back! Or put on aura slicer where it should have been the whole time?
  6. Speaking from the perspective of someone who mostly plays spell and competitive modes; we are not. Our weapons are often balanced with the burst skill in mind, which isn’t necessarily wrong, but I feel the adrenaline cost of using a burst skill is often forgotten and our kit is just balanced assuming it has 6 skills instead of 5 instead of 5+mechanic as I feel other classes are. Granted I don’t think the disparity between theoretical balance is far off, it’s just a few skills here and there that have strange balance that seems to try to keep our weapon skills from being dominant relative to other weapons in the game since people often consider our burst as “part of the weapon skills” instead of “part of the mechanics”. I feel like I’m explaining this horribly but I’ve written this much so I’m just going to post it cause I really don’t have any more kittens to give today.
  7. A heathen has entered amongst our ranks and attacked the sacred words with confused emojis. Warriors, torches ready, it’s time for an inquisition!
  8. Balthazar is dead. We are the gods now. We make our own reality. ex hath written words that shall be passed down until they become antiquity revered by those who remain behind as we pioneer our way to the edge of the universe and into what lay beyond infinity.
  9. Ele: pistol. I really like the idea of shooting combo-d with elemental magic Mesmer: Hammer. Idk, illusions+hammer seemed like it could be cool. Necro: Bow. Death magic sniper seems like a cool strat to me.
  10. Ranger: rifle, cause duh? Thief: dual maces. Like double batons. I think it could be cool. Engineer: no idea. Staff? Summon golems for your attacks? Honestly no idea.
  11. How tf am I the first person to put dual focus for Warrior? Does no one else want a person who straight up punches things?
  12. My brother, welcome to the path of war! Cover thine ears from the moans of those long since stuck on the boulders that stand in thy way. I know they may look intimidating at times. Monstrous, even. But in time you shall come to love thine struggle and embrace thine suffering. The moans of those about you are but being tempted by Broki, who comes to take the gains with which Brodin hath blessed us for our noble struggle. Devote thine self, I say, to the path of pain and struggle, and before long your legs shall be like great oaks rooting deep into the earth and thine back so wide it blocks the light of Sol so that when thine enemies come before you to be slain, they shall die in darkness. But you shall never be consumed by the darkness, for your head shall be head high, always pointing up towards the unreachable peak of the mountain that is Warrior. For that is what it means to be a warrior, to push past the end, to seek out struggle when all struggles hath been conquered, to seek what lies past the back of beyond! Now come, my brother in war, it is time for you to climb with us!
  13. Haha, I hope it’s a joke. With warriors lockdown ability, 100blades as a skill functions exceptionally well. The problem is that people who get caught in it aren’t punished very much, which makes it very susceptible to +1s and +2s from the front. It also reduces its cleave potential on rezzes. Basically it can be mostly ignored with the smallest bit of mitigation (protection is enough to make it tickle). Really, you could drop its cast to 2.25 and still up its coefficient and it wouldn’t be overpowered. The problem is that it would absolutely stomp bad players because many bad players can’t dodge stuns. So they will eat a stun then eat a 100blades and complain it’s a broken combo. This is part of why it was nerfed originally. That’s the problem with Warrior as a whole; the high telegraph-high reward skills are very punishing for players who can’t use the games core mechanics, but need to have rewards higher than other skills because the cost of use is higher. This makes balancing it difficult because it’s very easy to make it completely oppressive to lower skill players, which is the bulk of players. Though Warrior being an admittedly difficult class to balance doesn’t justify how bad 100b is right now imo.
  14. This is very well established in this forum. Hundred blades out-damages the auto attack by 4%. 2% if you factor in the vulnerability on auto attack. This all comes at one of the highest costs paid for any damage-only skill (full root, back loaded damage on a 3s cast). So how can it be fixed? Well there’s a few ways; First is the easiest; lower it’s cast time to, iirc, 2.25s to make its coefficient/cast within line with other channeled damage-first skills. Second; unroot it. I’m not a fan of this one, as it’s still quite a lackluster skill if you unroot it. I’d prefer a skill that gives adequate reward for the cost it imposes and has a larger impact because of the root than a skill that performs mediocre with less costs imposed. Just my opinion though. Third; a full rework. There’s a lot of ways this could be done; make it a 360 area of effect 240 range with increased damage, make it a chain attack (like daredevil elite) that goes 3 strikes .5s cast, 4 strikes .5s cast, then a final strike that is a 600 range leap. Those are just random ideas, theres a million more out there. A full rework is costly and absolutely unnecessary for hundred blades imo. While there’s a bunch of fun ideas, hundred blades works very well with warrior’s kit mechanically. There’s other places on Warrior that actually need full reworks. Hundred blades is not one of those. It just needs its numbers fixed. So how does hundred blades get better? Just drop its cast time.
  15. If you are going to tie berserk to “rage”, primals should be disconnected from adrenaline and just be usable on CD while in berserk. It really doesn’t make sense that someone going berserk would need to “build adrenaline” to do something. The whole point is they are on 100 the whole time.
  16. Warrior is the one whom all fear. They tremble knowing we are out there, somewhere, watching. Waiting. Bloodlust rising. Shields polished, axes sharpened, swords drawn, we rally just beyond their vision and they know it. They fear it. For when we walk along, they know that they will be on the floor for 3 seconds because they can’t dodge a 1s telegraph skill. They know they will lose half their health because they take 1.5s to hit their stunbreak. Their death is as inevitable. Their skills shall never be usable because our stuns shall put them on the floor and keep them there until they’ve yielded to our overwhelming might. My Warrior brothers, raise your axes high, shout loudly, like you are trying to fend off a bear, and know that the heathen users of magic fear deep in their bones the day that our chains shall be removed and our imaginary weapons are made real!
  17. It’s original effect prevented new boons from being applied to you iirc? So a 5 second period where they are unable to gain new boons.
  18. 5 boons removed + 1s disenchantment per boon removed, and restore disenchantment to its original effect.
  19. Move hammer 4 to 5, make it aoe pull Make hammer 4 a block that hits nearby foes, granting might per foe hit (like scrapper hammer block, but might). make hammer 3 a ground target, 450 range pull that hits 3 targets (think a shorter range, faster version of necro GS) Burst skill now deals damage instead of stun over a 150 radius. Hammer 2 now hits 3 targets. Now you have 2x pull, more balanced damage, and an additional defensive utility. Everything you said I agree with though. Blade trail pull would be unreliable but incredibly funny.
  20. Also make health a boon so we can rip that too…? 10% health for every boon ripped that isn’t there, spell has now transcended into god-hood.
  21. Ah, okay. I believe a lot of the justification for 6/27 changes were explained in their livestream but not transcribed in patch notes? Other than that, I get what you mean.
  22. Isn’t that the pinned thread on the professions forum rn? It’s literally called “June 27 Balance Follow-Ups”…
  23. this. More rips, disenchantment as a mechanic spread throughout the traits, slightly more damage. It’s time for spellbreaker to vengeance!
  24. Yes. Our whole kit synergies with pulls and then we have none. We have knockbacks instead, which don’t work well with a full melee class. The best place for this is hammer, which can be reworked to focus on pulls instead of knock back and knockdown. This is in line with how hammers were used historically. (I’m basically just repeating a hammer rework thread I made that’s in my profile). Also add a block to hammer, and shift some skills to be damaging instead of CC, and you’ll have an actually balanced and viable 2h more so than it is now imo.
  25. For break enchantment, it shouldn’t even be a damage skill at this point imo. Just give it fat boon rip and remove all damage. 5 boons, unblockable, no damage. The fact it removes 1 boon is nothing short of pathetic, and I don’t say that lightly. I tend to be more reserved in my criticism because there’s always differing opinions, but this one is just ridiculous. Either give it real damage or give it real boon rip, and remove the other.
