  1. I think restricting the events is fine or else players would get spread out too thin. Pretty sure they will include all events but rotate them in future. Hopefully the selections are randomly mixed.
  2. I'd just like to add to this. I'm a little confused though surely just by dint of using a mouse for anything be it movement or if you have number buttons along the side of it for attack skills you're still a clicker because you are clicking something on the mouse? What definition of a clicker are we using here? Clicking as in using the mouse cursor to click skills on your screen to activate a skill instead of keyboard or mouse buttons. As someone mentioned. I'd highly recommend a MMO mouse with buttons on the side, preferrably 12. . You can also set alt + closer keys/buttons. Basically figure out what combos you need to do and map them to keys where you can execute them easiest and you're most comfortable. It'll take some time getting used to. I have my side MMO mouse buttons mapped like this and use a combination of keyboard/mouse to execute.f1 1 2f2 4 3f3 5 6f4 f5 f6 I do have a multi button gaming mouse, but I still prefer to click skills as the side ones are being used for other hotkeys, maybe that doesn't work for other people, but it works for me if something is second nature I'm plenty quick at it. Nobody has said I'm slow to play with or bothered to ask if I'm a clicker, until this thread, so it's not an issue. If it becomes an issue in the future I'll consider retraining myself to an alternative method, but until then there's no real incentive for me to do so. Ah, I actually meant to clarify the mouse clicking question for you.The MMO mouse recommendation was meant in as my general recommendation for everyone. But yeah, play how you want and if it's working for you it doesn't matter :). I used to click skills from old MMO and my sister was pretty quick at clicking too when she played Diablo 3. Fair play, it's good advice in general if you can afford the better mice. No disagreement there.I was just explaining I find new keybinds much easier if I play a new game, but I have a suspicion I'm so set in doing it this way now for Gw2 after so long it's become the optimal (barely have to think about it) for me and would be hard to get used to a new way in this game. It's an odd coincidence it has come up in conversation here as just last week a friend on discord has changed his keybinds now he's upgraded his mouse and is encountering a similar thing, he's not as quick on it yet because he's still "having-to-remember-where-i bound-the-key-now". He'll get there tho. XDIndeed. When I switched to MMO mouse, it took me at least 1 months(think pressing wrong button and running off cliffs, etc) to be better than I was before switching, because the buttons were so small compared to what I was used to! But I'm pretty good at hitting the correct side buttons on my MMO mouse now. I just kept tweaking my setup until I was comfortable. I can comfortably say it has increased my game play quite a bit. I definitely was a semi clicker when I started.

  4. Don't worry. I was really bad myself when I started out. This game was a bit different and it took time to get used to the combat. I'd recommend you use Greatsword for cleave and Longbow for range and as someone mentioned Drake is a good pet to use. I'd recommend you invest in a MMO mouse to map buttons on the side and remap your skills closer to your movement keys. The sooner you get used to your end setup, the faster/quicker you'll improve your gameplay and muscle memory. It'll take some time, don't sweat it. It took me 2 weeks to even get comfortable with controls again after comming back from a 2 year hiatus. I haven't leveled for quite some time but I recall keeping my weapon and the bigger armor pieces(chest/pants/shoulders) up to date level wise was most useful for the story instances. I.E. level 20 for level 20 story. It's cheap to buy on the tp. Just get the cheapest beserker(or assasin) Fine or Masterwork rarity.
  5. In GW2 most classes are self sufficient in the open world but based on your description. Son --> WarriorYou --> Guardian (Firebrand would best match you but you need POF expansion for Firebrand). Can use greatsword and is a good support/caster and can be carry support healer/quickness for Fractals. I'd recommend to get your hp to around 15k mixing your stats to avoid being one shot by champs. Your wife ----> can either be a Mesmer to Chrono or Ranger to Druid. This game is very alt friendly so you will probably have 2 or 3 classes you'll play regularly when it's all said and done. Note when you get expansions, especially HOT, you'll want to slot in some more survival skills/traits. Mainly a stun breaker and condi cleanse. You'll find out :). Good sites for builds. https://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki --> Lots of WVW roaming(small scale) builds are good for solo. 3 man teams you can pick builds that synergize(provide boons, etc) with each other but in open world shouldn't need to be too concerned. Just don't all 3 of you pick support. 1 support is enough for tougher content. You'll most likely tweak some of the builds.https://snowcrows.com/ ---> good builds/info for instanced content. You never know, you may do instanced content, especially dungeons/fractals. Don't use the optimal dps builds for open world until you're more familiar/comfortable with the game.

  7. Sounds like a bug as you can see all you need to do is talk and go through the options and the recipe unlocks. (this is for Twilight) but should be no different.
  8. I used to play LotRO for a couple of years, as well as other games all the way back to MUDs in the late 80s/early 90s, and having to rely on other people for content completion works fine as long as you have a good bit of disposable time on your hands (although one of my fondest LotRO memories is soloing dungeons on my warden pre Helm's Deep and just taking friends along to have someone to chat to ;) ). The older I got, the more my gametime was restricted, and the more I've come to appreciate games that give me all the opportunities to be social while not forcing them on me, as that would offer me alternatives if/when I couldn't find the right group for the content I wanted to tackle. I do play MMOs to play with other people, but I'm at a time in my life where I prefer to be in control over who to play with and when to play with them. Being thrown into a dungeon with a young know-it-all that is convinced they alone know right from wrong gameplay/equipment/rotations/whatever is not the kind of socializing I'm looking for in a game. I've had my share of that in other games. Not being forced to formally group up with strangers doesn't mean you want to play a single player game. It might just mean you are more picky about who to play with, and when. Exactly. The reason I enjoy GW2 is the option to group and only some content grouping(to make communication easier) is needed. This is a good happy medium IMO.
  9. Now that you mention it, I think OP knows about transmog but may not be aware about stat swapping for Ascended armor.
  10. You should check the wardrobe preview to see what you like then go obtain it. I like mixing and matching armor instead of outfits.
  11. I can't think of any game that gives you the amount of content for 25 bucks, let alone just the base game(free or buy to play) when it first launched. Check out this old but IMO accurate review of just the base game. The expansions have mostly improved the game and the base game has evolved a bit for the better also.
  12. Hey you can follow this guide:http://dulfy.net/2017/09/24/gw2-griffon-mount-collections-guide/
  13. I'll admit, it was annoying at first, but then I realized, I actually have to pay attention running through the map or I might die. It seemed to make the map more livelier, albeit annoying. I can't recall what mob, but there's a mob that runs pretty fast, that actually caught up to me while I was almost dead running through and I actually had to try to survive. I love this map, it's very lively.
  14. I find for open world this is a good build, except, don't use celestial status. Use mostly Berserker but add some Marauders to get to around 15k hp so you don't drop as easily or get one shot by some stuff. You'll need to play the piano(press lots of buttons) though, as this build relies on you using your skills as often as possible.https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Weaver_-_Celestial_Roamer You can switch Weaver for Fire in the meantime, until you get your Elites Specializations unlocked.
  15. 1.) I want the Dragon Mount. What can I do to make sure I can start working on this. When it's released, Dulfy is usually a site that is quick to have the info on what to do. 2.) Learn Dungeons/Fractals and the mechanics. Find a group. Don't know how to go about this.Look up builds at Metabattle, however tweak as needed depending on group. Dungeons:Look for a LFG. Dungeons are done less frequently nowadays, but I sometimes and other Vets run em for fun. Some dungeons are needed for Gen 1 Legendaries. You can look up videos but easier dungeons are Ascalon Catacombs and Citadel of Fire. I frequently see those run. Usually 1 or 2 good players can carry these dungeons. Just let them know you're new off the bat. Fractals:Check LFG for tier 1 fractals. You don't need agony up to level 20 fracs and is the learning ground. I'd recommend you look at a video on youtube for each of the dailies + tier 1 recommended fractals for that day. You'll also get lots of ascended ring/trinket drops. You'll need to get the amulet, but Living story 3, bitterfrost is a great place for Trinkets. You'll also be able to get Ascended Backpiece(although limited stats selections, it does have beserker stats) with fractal relics. There's quite a few Fractal guides for beginners on youtube. You'll want to understand agony. 3.) Ascended Gear. (I have a Greatsword, Trinkets, and Amulet). I am finding it difficult to create/get vision/lesser vision crystals.)Look up maps that give the mats for the vision crystals and run around in those maps. You'll get a good chance of ascended boot/glove/helm from fracs once you get a bit higher in fractals. It's harder to get Chest/legs/shoulder drops in that order, so you'll most likely need to craft these if you want a full set. I'd craft Leggings first, then perhaps shoulders. There are armor collections that reward ascended chest piece. Farm some Silverwastes and Dragons stand while doing collections for em, win win.https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bioluminescencehttps://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Leystone_Armor_(achievement) 4.) Enjoy the story but it seems like I should do things out of order. I keep getting told get mounts now, only mount I really care about is the Dragon. Indeed mounts are a great convenience but you don't have to do anything a certain way. With that said, I'd recommend to get the Springer mount to level 3 and the Skimmer is useful to traverse water. The Griffon is great too, but since you like the Dragon, perhaps wait and go for that first since they are similar. 5.) Get basic Tyrian XP for Auto Loot (I hate having to use a button to loot) - Think I should do this for convenience and I'm bad at remember to loot. Yes, this is one of the best Masteries. Good goal to go for. Just remember if you're too far when you finish a meta, you'll need to go manually loot the chest. I.E., when you finish the Tangled Depths Meta. 6.) Raids Your best bet is to look for a Raiding Guild and watch/read guides. Just shout in Map Chat or post in the LFG forums posts.Good site below:https://snowcrows.com/ 7.) Finish Story This is entirely up to you, but I'd do the Story just for the mastery points and it helps you unlock map waypoints. 8.) Mastery/Points Look up guides but http://dulfy.net is a great source for each map. I'd definitely prioritize this as one of better objective to go aim for. 9,.) Magic Find - How do I get this, does it really make a difference. 90 now. I wouldn't worry about this, but yes you'll get some benefit. Just salvage your weapons/armors you find and use the luck. Here's a good read:https://www.reddit.com/comments/7xrvy3 Check LFG for the HOT metas and do em, they are good profit and you'll start getting stuff for Legendaries, etc. POF bounty trains are also good to join. You can practice your rotations and skills at PVP Lobby or there's training Golems inside the Fractal Lobby, either works.
  16. This is a easy choice. Definitely do not craft a Legendary Skin you don't like. If you take a moment, other than OCD, it's a waste to even think about it.
  17. If that was the 'only' reason for their removal, ANET would have placed them in the OS. I think it's equally believable that they don't want crafting stations to be so easily accessible, as it diminishes the appeal for lounge licenses like Mistlock Sanctuary et al. But hey, at least WvW players still have access to a mystic forge within WvW. Outside of lounges, PvE players have to go to Laggings Arch for that :sunglasses: I don't disagree, but taking up map que was also a unintended problem they didn't think of.
  18. I think the real problem with keeping crafting stations in WVW would be the map que taken up.
  19. The idea is good, but the rewards could be more interesting. Super rare drops are fine but I thought about a reward idea that would help promote gem store sales + breath some life into the reward system for similar events. We all know rare items are revered simply because they are rare + unique in some sense. Guild Wars 2 is really lacking in this department and understandably if all the unique/cool items were drops, no one would spend on the gemstore. Take the invisible slippers. From a fashion standpoint, it's really not great, but because it's super rare, it's worth is high. Infusions are also revered for their uniqueness and rareness. Why not create more unique rare + super rare drops (why doesn't every world boss have a mini already?) that are cool in their own right, but perhaps, sell something(jewel, etc, that give unique effect or can enhance the look, ability of said item ) on the gemstore that can make it truly unique. Similar to infusions, these enhancements can have unique combinations, effects. I.E., armors/weapons/mini's/, but also have these enhancements drop very rarely in the game and black lion chests. Basically the more unique items in the world, the more excitement there is to do an event, and the more enhancements will be in demand from the gemstore. Each region/map should have specific drops. For example, how the chak infusion only drops from tangled depths meta. To promote finishing metas, the higher the participation, the higher your chance of these drops. There's proof this works(Verdant Brink Meta), where the players are willing to put in work to get to the highest security level to get better rewards and guarantee blade armor drop. The only reason it's not done more is because the end reward is no longer as valuable, once they get the full set. I know I went off tangent to meta events, but this can also be incorporated for world bosses and other future events. This is just a rough idea that can be refined, but rare/unique drops are the heart of every MMO game I've played. I know Guild Wars 2 reward system was meant to give everyone a chance to get an item over time, but as the chak infusion has proven, it's okay that not everyone can get a super rare/unique item, but they are awed when someone has it. I've not heard complaints. They however surely can attain said item, if they have the gold and someone is willing to sell, or with a little luck get it from a drop. There of course needs to have intermediate guarantee rewards and there's lots of talk of giving a token where players can trade it in for items(something useful should suffice) of their choice. An example is HOT currencies(ley line crystals, etc) that have proven to be rewarding as they are needed and can be traded in for items. This is better than the guarantee rare item.
  20. I wouldn't delete a character , as someone mentioned, birthday gifts are great. I know the feeling but I"m also would not jump ship just because certain classes are better than others. Just play what you enjoy. You will need to invest some time into them and perhaps you may find you like them later. I used to always say to myself, why do I pick the worse classes, but in gw2, it's alt friendly. For instance, I could not stand Longbow ranger when HOT came out. I used her as a mule until recently, when I put my engi's ascended viper gear onto her and I definitely enjoy condi soulbeast with shortbow, dagger/dagger. Is it meta, heck no, but I have other classes for that. You're not the only one, but you really should just play what you enjoy and build a alt gear/character for meta if really want to be a min/max player. Having returned not too long ago myself, I don't recommend you start over a character. It took me 2 weeks to get control of my character back somewhat but I'd rather be frustrated then frustrated and bored( leveling again). Personally I like Spell Breaker for wvw roaming, Firebrand for Fracts( power support hybrid quickbrand) but they are great as support if you're into support. I'm not.I've kinda shelved my weaver(ele) although she was my favorite pre and during HOT. Weaver and Sword is a bit clunky.
  21. Brain fart when crafting Astralaria. I already had the precursor (The Mechanism). I still have it and I crafted this again thinking it was part of the next step. I'm just gonna eat the loss since I can afford it, but support is very helpful for mistakes like these and kudos to them for that. They've helped me for a bigger loss before that was also totally my own stupidity again.https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Balanced_Counterweight
  22. Best advice was given earlier, adjust you build/gear as needed until you're comfortable going closer to full zerker/viper. Still it's better to adjust to the group and have a more pug safe build when needed. You won't break speed records, but you'll finish the Frac. For instance T4 ,Twilight Oasis, last boss. I noticed we kept cutting the break bar close during the phases when we need to break her break bar. Normally in a good group, my Firebrand doesn't need a third CC, but I took it and it saved our butts for that run. Soulbeast is not my main nor do I have lots of hours, but I'm starting to like condi soulbeast. For Condi Soulbeast, I'd be bored if it was shortbow/shortbow. I find shortbow, dagger(leap on dagger 3 with 2 charges)/dagger(dagger 4 is a dodge and attack), is more fun. Though I haven't had a chance to do WVW with her. I main a Warrior and roam wvw mostly.
  23. fyi for anyone trying to imbed the image from imgur. What you need to do is add the extension of your file at the end (.jpg). Quote the picture and you'll see the format below with the url of the jpg.copy and paste the format below and just insert your imgur url in place of the url link.
