Hehe you cant do this anymore with most of them the only exotic precursors you can put in the forge is dusk and dawn. I guess people mass forging exotics got miffed at speed clicking them into the forge.

Yes you most likely hit the daily/ old monthlies cap of 15.000 it happens to all of us sooner or later. The game still show you getting 10 ap but you dont.

Got axe precursor from a green champion bag in ascalonian catacombs and bard from just running around verdant brink the rest of my 23 precursors are from forging 4 exotic/rare in the mystic forge. First I forged for specific ones to get all for myself and later just throw in random with crap sigils.

The only reason I can see is because they are old but nothing gets old in gw2 like for example wow were everything but last expansion is a ghost town since people boost and only play the new stuff.

None of those you bring up are pve exclusive rewards tho, since Anet implement the spvp/wvw reward tracks at the same time as the pve maps. Its a thow away gesture just to give something to those otherwise neglected modes mate.
