Charged Quartz Orichalcum Amulet of the Sky drop

Hi!

So we have been playing some Octovine meta with our group lately and one of our friends recived this item from the exalted chest after the event. According to wiki, the item should not be obtainable since August 2021. (our friend got it 29. 12. 2021) We got a bit excited, because we thought it's the super rare drop amulet with the vile of liquid aurillium, but now we're not sure whether it's rare or just a bug. She doesn't know if she got it from the meta or from Verdant Brink events, she was doing before that. Can you help us solve this mystery?

Hard to say.  I don't see any official notes in the Update Notes about the item; just someone added a note about it's availability in the Wiki.  If your friend got the drop, it seems it has not been removed.  🤷‍♂️

I would hold onto it as its meant to contain an infusion but wasn't finished yet and it might return some time in the future. The wiki is confusing it with a beta item of the same name.

Poking around the Wiki has given two possibilities and a simple way to tell between them: see if it's salvagable. Don't actually salvage it but double click a salvage kit and see if it's selectable or goes red and unselectable.

The first possibility is that your friend used a level 80 boost and got the amulet from the equipment package, swapped it with something else and forgot it was in her inventory until now. Since the 5th October update those give equipment with celestial stats to all characters and apparently the Charged Quartz Orichalcum Amulet of the Sky is the one they use. Like all the equipment given by the level 80 boost it's not salvagable (and also can't be sold or put in the Mystic Forge).

The second possibility is that it's a bug, probably caused by the 14th December update that replaced the Charged Quartz Orichalcum Amulet of the Exalted which used to drop from chests in Tarir with the Vial of Liquid Aurillium (apparently because a lot of people were deleting or salvaging the amulet without extracting the upgrade first). Something may have gone wrong with the update and caused it to drop the previously unavailable version of the Amulet of the Sky instead. But that version should be salvagable.

If the amulet is salvagable or if your friend has not used a level 80 boost on that character and so cannot have the equipment from it she should submit a bug report so Anet is aware. It might be worth doing it via a Support ticket (link at the top of the page) rather than an in-game bug report, because if it should have dropped the Vial of Liquid Aurillium instead they may be able to replace it. (She'll need to do this herself, unlike forum posts you can't contact support on behalf of someone else.)

She was using lvl 80 boost few days ago and the amulet wasn't salvagable, so it must be it. Thank you all for your responses.

did you try an infusion extractor? You get them from fractal merchants

The post is from 4 years ago and seeing how very recently they moved away from amulets containing valuable/rare infusions since apparently a lot of people were missing them or salvaged those amulets with means not guaranteeing to leave the unpgrades intact, I would say it's highly doubtful they'll suddenly (again, 4 years after that post and significantly longer since the HoT release itself) start re-implementing infusions into amulets. That said, since currently its value is rather negligible (right?), your friend might as well just store it in the bank.
