I prefer the auto direction to whatever I had targeted. Now I have to do this manually, it totally kills the flow of combat in PvP. Over the past year Anet has been rather on point with QoL changes for the game. Aiming ToT at your target automatically to me was definitely a QoL thing. The ground target direction locks in without taking your character movement into account.
