we need some good stuff from GW1

Recommended Posts

Something i dont understand from day one I played  gw2 (8 years ago)

Why they dont drop some good element from GW1 into GW2 like:

1. there are really cool / good looking armor in gw1 such as. (Assassin) Ancient / Asuran.   (ele) Vabbian / Stormforged.  specially  necro, there are lots of cool armor in there like  Elite Luxon , Ancient, Primeval, Vabbian.   just make it as outfit, apply into char and asura. put it on tp for 800gem.  i am sure people will love it. ( i will buy few of  them if they are on TP )

we do had monk , ritualist, mesmer, dervish (gw1) outfit but not the good fancy one.

2. the capture skill system, get new skill by killing champ / boss  ( i am not sure if call Elite mission)

3. Ritualist class should be on EOD as elite specialisation (as necro maybe)  they are really fun to play class on gw1.

4. i like the god transformed skill on Dervish. ( i dont think they will add into the game since we already got god look outfit)

They tried the 'capture skill(it was traits) system'.  It was removed due to popular demand.

its a bit different to gw1 skill capture system. on gw1 those skill are optional. like capture the flesh golem skill for necro.( not a necro default skill ). imagine there are many different skill  around the map you can hunt. and you spend time to capture one by one. to expand number of your skill. that's sound fun to me.

The primary reason there are no Dervish style god avatars is due to the fact that there are multiple playable races in gw2, as opposed to gw1's human only playables, and these other races do not follow or believe in the Six gods the avatars are based on.

The elite skill capture as it existed in gw1 us effectively incompatible with skills in gw2.  Gw1 had hundreds of elite skills in gw1 and only a couple dozen in gw2.

As for the the other stuff you brought up, who knows, maybe you'll get them.  There's certainly a number of gw1 skins I'd like to see added...

We don't need anything from GW1.  GW2 is its own game.  Let it stand on its own.

That's certainly a silly thing to say considering how much gw2 relies on gw1 and the myriad of this that were transfered from the latter to the former.

As was mentioned before, we had a system that was very similar for quite a while, and I for one am glad we no longer have it. It was fun on the first character, ok on the second, but by the 3rd character at the latest it got awfully repetetive.

I have a ton of max-level characters in this game and very much enjoy that fact that no matter what class and build I want to try, it's quick and easy to get a character that has access to all skills and traits. Compare that to ESO, a game I have played almost as long as this one (since ESO beta), where I only have one character for endgame stuff because I can't be bothered to play the same questlines with again and again to get enough skillpoints on the other characters to gain access to all of their skills.

Exploration is great, one of my favorite pasttimes, but forced exploration across several characters gets a big fat NO from me.

We had something similar. Many players didn't like it or did not go out to acquire the skills, which put them at a disadvantage as far as build craft goes. It was changed and subsequently removed.
