GoingMenthol.7281
Yeah, Zealot is cool. Maybe even Harrier if we go by stat names Miriam Webster: Harrier -> One that Harries -> to force or move along by harassing / to torment by or as if by constant attack
Genesis.8572
With a bit of thought, I would potentially go with the name Vanguard with the idea of this being the first in and out of battle, but also incorporating the name "guard," which doubles with the guards of the throne, but also the Guardian profession. Other names could be Initiate, Inquisitor, whatever... but Willbender? 🤣

Duke Blackrose.4981
I'm wondering if someone on the team is a big Stormlight Archive fan. The Willbender is reminiscient of the Willshaper - one of the orders of the Knights Radiant. This order hasn't featured prominently in the books yet, but its 2 surges (Transportation and Cohesion) are both mobility-based - and the Willbender's main appeal for the Guardian is increased mobility. If it truly is a reference to the best fantasy novels ever written, this elite spec name just went from bad to amazing, IMO. Mimterest.4639
I want to know why it's even called Willbender, they've got nothing of the sort, except maybe preventing any instance of damage hitting them by Reversal of Fortune. The whole spec feels so rough it feels like they were either working on a different spec entirely, or that a core part of this elite spec wasn't working and they simply cut it out and what we're left with is this hollow shell which is mysteriously called Willbender because... reasons? I think the name would be fine if there was an actual identity behind it, a strong theme. Willbender is really lacking on that front.

The spec name implies a musical elite spec… Virtuoso should be a bow wielding spec with shouts and arias… supporting their allies while befuddling their foes… instead we have a dagger throwing mentalist… at least Guardian’s new elite spec name kinda fits the theme of the spec… but this one isn’t even in the same ballpark… Someone suggested "Bladedancer" instead of Virtuoso and since reading that it just feels so right. Virtuoso tremendously misses the mark.
cat.8975
this spec has bent my will to play the game after the beta is over, because i don't wanna go back to firebrand at this point 😭 Edited August 21, 2021 by cat.8975

Kikk Dorr.5341
Personally I find the name Willbender to be quite fitting. After being really excited to try out the elite spec, my will was bent. I no longer wanted to touch the spec and was so happy to see it leave the game once the beta had ended.

Kind of agree, but the Willbender does have lore behind it as the elite protectors of the Weh No Su, those who had become Closer to the stars, the upcoming emperors of Cantha that had reached ascension. However, as the emperor's own protectors, I'm curious as to why they are called Willbender... do they bend the will of the ones they protect? Bend the will of the people? Or is this name just magically conjured out of someone's kitten... I kind of like Willbender because it reminds me of Sanderson's names of the Orders of Knights Radiant in Stormlight Archive, however it feels like it misses the mark slightly compared to the names there, such as Skybreakers, Bondsmiths, Windrunners, Stonewards, Willshaper even(!), etc. that better represent each order. But I guess, and hope, we will get some more meat on the bone as to why we'll known as Willbenders.
crewthief.8649
Personally, I think Willbreaker would have made more sense, since breaking the will of an enemy is generally associated with having crushed their morale through total victory. Several of the suggestions within this thread would have been better than what they went with, in my opinion.
