Or something like this: let's us swap weapon skills in each atument for example in fire staff replace Flame Burst with Burning Speed from dagger main hand skill set, or swap Water Blast in water with Scepters Ice Shards ect. This way we could make specialized or optimized builds depending on content or gamemode.

The problem with core ele and its current elite spec is that the wepon chose for ele is too important. It makes ele less of a mages class and more of a wepon specialist a type of melee class.

An elite spec will not fix the problem ele core needs a 10 sec cd wepon swap or for its wepon chose to be less important and more about the trait line build or "spell" chose.

I don't think a weapon swap will actually solve anything. Simply because ele was never designed with such idea in mind, so the weapons don't even fit with one another.

We have 2 ranged weapons only, one is a trash duelist (staff), other is a Fresh Air one-trick playstyle. Then we have focus with a more aggressive build because of utility, but dagger with a bit of defense in the lines. If you try fitting any of these 2 ranged weapons with the current melee weapons, or melee with themselves... it just doesn't make sense, especially that each weapon set on ele has multiple builds different from the other weapons, so you won't be able to find a middle ground. We have the lowet HP pool and the lowest Armor pool, don't know why there isn't a Power/Precision/Ferocity pool. Anyway, we're the only class to have both at lowest, so when thinking of a weapon swap, you need to think of the investment and the chess you'll be playing to find a middle ground build on a D/D + Staff on the swap button.

The class only has 3 main weapons as a core and there a 4th with an elite spec. 3 of the weapons in anet eyes are seems as melee (scepter i guess they call a melee wepon i am not sure why though). In effect ele needs to be able to use its staff at all times to be an ele or a mages class. Any thing out side of that its just a wepon specialist with its current main hand wepon. Staff is the only thing that a "mage" like for ele. Sadly that means all elite spec that are off hand only cant fill that mages roll with there elite spec wepon and often must run staff and give up the added wepon and the wepon trates from that line.

This class is comply messed up and NEEDS a rework badly. Anet knows this the old ele dev knows this and i bet why they made a run for it after weaver came out.

Main Dagger needs more defense (elites have taken over and dagger can't compete)Staff needs stronger aoe burstScepter needs faster and harder hitting skills (plus, why do we have two blinds?!)

Give us longbow with the next elite and finally establish the true mage class that everyone wants!

Ele can't weapon swap at the moment, so every weapon has to fulfill a single purpose perfectly. Core weapons need fine tuning the most compared to any other class

Give us pistols, Dual Pistols!!! Long range 900 -1200 single traget heavy damage on skill 4-5 and cluster aoe burst for skill1-2-3 at 600 range. Chalk full of damage and condi mixed into each attunement. Give us new conditions and crazy mobility, since we still can't cloak. Also we have to make pew pew sounds when shooting pistols.. DO IT!!!

PSLike a certain scientific railgun! A long range attack that knocks targets in a straitline applying stun and daze for 1 second charging it will increase damage! <-- Needs to be our elite skill with a short cool-down of 40-48 seconds.

I do like the magic bow idea.

FB has the ability to use many more skills then most wepon swap class and it still has wepon swap so why not?

fb is not a valid comparison cuz of tome cds. even then its 25 skills, nearly half.

I would call a tome 5 skills in them self and the manta at least 2. As well as FB can make there book cd reset on effects as well as give them self alacitly by convening chill (something an ele cant do).

You have a better chance ask ele to have a 50% damage increase to all skills. I mean guys more damage please and new condi stats. Also change FGS to dual FGS.

Lastly, still waiting for Power & Healing (major stat) and Precision and Ferocity (minor stat) armors in pve.

PHPF!!!!!!!!!

FB tome and weapon swap have 25 skills, weaver elements have 20 skills plus the dual attack based on different mixed attuement and they get accessed to additional 6 skills which is 26 skills. What are you complaining about?

Few things that the wepon defines the skill more then the atument dose. And your leaving out manta that have 2 skill 1 being the weak version of the skill with low cd and 1 being the strong version with high cd.

FB is more of a mages then ele ever was.

No thanks -- there's already enough to manage with a single weapon set and four attunements. No need to increase the complexity.

It would also make balance more difficult for Arena Net which means we'd see nerfs to skills/traits that are currently ok without weapon swapping. Nobody wants that.

I would rather see the typical addition of a new weapon, or a fifth attunement (like dark or light).

I agree some skills are weaker than it should be but there are utility skills that makes you to attuent to single element immediately which could be offset that.

Not like the other class are lacking in utility effects its just for what ever reason ele lacks more of them then most classes.

Look at it this way it takes 20 skill and the 4 swaps to get the same effect that takes most classes with 10 skill and wepon swap. There a lot of pointless or under-power skills in the ele 20 to 24 (even weavers) When you have just dose dmg on a skill your waiting a lot of work for anet devs who made the ele class to start with.

Or you could completely refont the staff skills ... easier and take less time than trying to find a way to fix the entire classOther weapons work just fine tbh ... Dagger is fine with the new changes. Scepter is meh but ok with fresh air. Staff is the outlier.

You just have to look at the changes they made few patches ago with lava font and meteor shower. You can smell that something is wrong with staff baseline.

I second this. If a profession can't swap weapons, then it's up for its kit to counter this issue, which sadly isn't the case.

Sadly with fire aura being bugged dagger is far from fine.

The problem is wepon chose is too important for the ele class vs class who can swap weapons. If you play dagger you can only play in melee witch is a massive handicap for the lowest hp / def class in the game. Made worst when dagger dose not come with any real def build in. Class who can swap wepon are not so locked into this melee only game play and can swap there sets to let them be much more fixable (what ele was made for).

Staff is fine because you can used ranged attks at melee scepter is only soso because its a beem wepon type that has some what of a hard time with targets that can move arone you. Dagger is the main problem and the update did nothing to fix the lack of ranged attk.

This comment imply only MY personnal point of view and is not at all what the reality is or might be. (but maybe)

dagger mainhand isn't fine you right ... otherwise we would only play it . the offhand has an important role too. Dagger is mainly melee and you're right. But being "forced" to stay melee isn't that bad of a deal.

To illustrate my thoughts :Power Revenant (okay pretty strong build right now... right): double sword + staff => melee onlyCore Guard (less effective now but was super strong 2 seasons away) => melee onlySpellbreaker (strong 1v1 potential and insane burst if CC lock) => melee only

I could go on and on but i think that's enough to show you that melee only doens't mean bad most of the time. What makes these melee specs good? well mostly the capacity to chase targets = basically gap closing.Ofc active defense helps.

Ele has some gap closers if uses dagger of hand(could use one more imo but not the point) or more active defenses with focus but looses the gap closers. The new dagger has gained more leaps so imo the dagger mainhand is in its best state since release.

For the staff point of view , it locks you at range to be more effective since it has very few active defenses (and hard to place them to be effective) I think that reworking some less used skills on staff to make them creating a gap between the ele and their target (such as burning retreat or elixir pistol #4 on engineer) to be able to be more effective competitivly .
