  1. I assume you finish the whole episode? Once they're all done, then repeat the story. You will then have purple icons shown around Lion's Arch. Activate the one outside LA in Gendarran and choose Scarlet's End option. Leaving the Instance on the initial story will not enable you to replay that if you have passed the checkpoint of the story.
  2. If you've completed the whole story, just go to Claw Island Portage Waypoint (South of Sanctum Harbor) for the Honored Guest Instance. Listen to the conversations and it'll appear after that at the point where you first enter soon as your see a green star over Magister Ela Makkay. It will have a Crown icon over it's head and the icon will also be on the minimap.
  3. You farm items in-between to sell for gold. Map currencies can be ignored if you have no idea what they're for. But you'll always need them and they go into your wallet. If storage is full, and no idea what to do with the mats, and don't want to Wiki them, then just sell for gold. Salvage or sell all gears. No reason to keep any except what you use. New players will not get many items that they'd want to store in their bank. Vets already know basically what they need to keep or know how to find out. As for Skyscale, the time-gates are very short. You can either stop playing while waiting because you refuse to do other events or just farm items for gold, which you'll always need. Most Legendary items are time-gated in one way or another. Would you stop playing any other game modes or do other events altogether while waiting to get that particular Legendary item? To add, by the time anyone get to the Skyscale stage, they are no longer a newbie player. They would have gone through their Personal Story, probably done both HoT and PoF, or at least PoF. And will be at the very end of Living World S4. They should already be very familiar with most of the basics of the game. They should also be very familiar with the game's heavy reliance on Wiki and know how to search, or ask ingame.
  4. By Playing Something Else, I'm talking about ingame. Not another game. Gather map currencies while waiting. Do World Bosses, other meras, whatever. There is absolutely no good reason to camp the spot. If someone is not going after Skyscale, they would be moving from maps to maps doing various things. So, why would this prevent anyone from doing so?
  5. That applies to many things. Meta events are all time-gated. So's many lesser events. Vendors, farmings, etc. All time-gated. They all prevent you from doing them at any time you wish. Knowing that, the best option is always to, as you said, choose to play something else and get back to them when available.
  6. For both of them, disable auto-attack and do not use any minions/pets/mechs. Although both can be obtained on the same run, it might be easier to separate them so only have to really pay attention to one thing at a time. For In Tune, always pay attention to the Prime Light Attunement buff icon. When it starts blinking, stop attacking until you've managed to get all 3 buffs again just to be safe. The 3 colored ones are easy. Just make sure not to attack until you have the same color attunement. Check the attunements on your buff bar and the icon above your head just to be sure: RED, BLUE & GREEN. For the Microprime (Mp) phase, your buff will always be Prime Light so just kill them. For No More Tricks, Scarlet, just stay away from all lasers, scorch marks and circle AoEs which will explode when the Mp are killed. Make sure to dodge all bombs and the laser attacks from above. Do not rush to kill the Mp or risk getting trapped by multi-lasers. Use Range attacks only so there's more room to manoeuvre. Stay close to the tri-color scorched marks as the next laser from the Prime Hologram will always be placed at your location -clustering them will give you more room.
  7. Yup. It is exactly that. Entertainment. Just as GW2 is. Pure entertainment. It really baffle me when players object to any forum topics discussing the game they are playing. There's really no obligations for them to read it. Adding to an existing thread would not make the polls visible and easily accessible to vote on. It'll be so far buried that any such poll will be useless and just a waste of time and effort.
  8. It will not spawn a cocoon at the very beginning. Other than that, the strategy you mentioned is sound. Private instance is a must. We went with 6. Loaded up with CC. Rushed in, meleed and spammed CC. It will always cocoon the person farthest away not in melee range, so always stay very tight to it. On the 1st try, one of us was knockbacked and immediately cocooned. The 2nd try, it didn't even have a chance to move before it was dead.
  9. Read the suggestions on this thread. PoF Masteries For all the masteries Also, if you really want to, just go to another PoF maps to get the Insight Masteries. Not necessary to do the story to enter Desert Highlands. Same goes for other maps. Just get the easy masteries there to level up.
  10. Was unsuccessful on all the public instances to locate Peter because he only stay in one spot for 2 minutes. And map events will usually ends fairly fast. Not sure if he'll still appear after all events are completed. A sure way to get this achievement if you have the time. Make a private instance and go camp at one of the known locations. Check this map from GuildJen. I managed to find him at location #8 in front of the waterfall. An alternative way is by clearing the 3 Rally Points so all waypoints will be available. Then just keep using waypoints to cycle through the locations. Or just cycle through the easy-to-reach points: 6, 11, 5, 10, 3, 8 & 7.
  11. Done it lots of time with more than 9 minutes left, which is less than 6 minutes. Didn't get credit at all. NOTE: I didn't have the original achievements but couldn't get it either.
  12. Thanks for the tip. Was getting frustrated not because of the difficulty but with having to watch the cutscene with no option to skip over and over again.. Tried this and worked on 2nd try.
  13. Many have never experience the true grinds of old MMOs, so impossible to forget what you've never seen/done. You kinda expect it then. Of course, things changed and so does attitudes.
  14. Anything against the rules set such as in ToS are illegal. Illegal does not just pertain to law and statutes of a country. A definition - Contrary to or forbidden by official rules, regulations, etc.: Example: in various sports, it is illegal to hold onto an opponent during the game.
  15. CUTSCENES! CUTSCENES! CUTSCENES! Please have all with "Skip to End". Really don't need to watch them over and over just to try for an achievement. Too many have no options to skip.
  16. No need to do the events. Just enter a public instance and donate to NPC Sergeant Walters instead, who is right at the entrance.
  17. Why would I want to spend all the hours to do searches to find relevant threads, and reading through some of them to see if they apply. And then spend countless hours to read and review all the existing threads with thousands of comments? And often with pages upon pages of irrelevancies: two people arguing back and forth about some semantics. To even suggest that is simply ridiculous. A poll can do that in a mere fraction of the time. If it generate interests, then it's hardly pointless. A pointless poll will be one that no one cares about its issue at all.
  18. Validity or not is irrelevant. The point is Curious to see if there are indeed that many who dislike it or just a select few posters repeating it. Also, as a general interest. That's the whole point of a forum. To interact and carry on a dialog amongst people of the same general interest.
  19. Ah, but I'm polling forum posters. Not the whole GW community. As I said, to gauge if the general consensus here is that it's too grindy or just a few posters constantly repeating this mantra on various posts. It is not meant to be a scientific study to accurately show the sentiments of the GW2 as a whole. Especially since those who has not even started the journey yet would hardly have a formed opinion of their own other than from what they had heard. It can, however, be a reflection of the GW2 community if the data is heavily skewed one way or another. Not perfect but a reflection.
  20. I probably use Skyscale 50% of the time. Raptor 30%. And the rest: Springer, Roller Beetle , Griffon, Skimmer, Warclaw & Jackal 20% total. So, for me, it is definitely a premium mount. Aside from those who plays mostly WvW, Skyscales will be the main mount of majority of the players who have them. If it is your main mount, then it is a premium mount.
  21. Didn't see any poll for this but a few topics complaining about the quest. Curious to see if there are indeed that many who dislike it or just a select few posters repeating it. Please try to keep any comments short. Argue in the other thread if you want.
  22. It is only tedious for those who wants it right away without putting in the effort for a premium mount. And there are many who enjoy the quests as can be seen from so many of the comments in this thread alone. The Skyscale is not needed for most of the achievements. If it's"low effort busy work" and "weak content" to you, then just skip it. Go do those events you enjoy. Skyscales are not required for any of them.
  23. Maybe Anet should make a basic Skyscale for those that complained about it being too grindy. Want it without doing the steps? Here's your K-Mart special. No mastery or any skills. No Dash, no Wall Jump, no Blast, no Endurance recharge and no Mount/Dismount in midair. Only able to mount, fly forwatd, climb and descend. Anyone can get the basic by just doing Newborn Skyscales. But can upgrade it at anytime when all the required steps are completed.
  24. No, they are not all equal. There are many players who enjoy running around exploring and for them pressing F 70 times is more than OK. It's exploring different areas, using different mounts, using different skills, fighting different mobs, etc. If everyone hates contents like these, and MMOs insist on having them, then you can be sure they won't survive. But that's not the case, is it? Especially for such a huge game. You have literally hundreds of thousands , if not millions who are actively playing this game. Not everyone likes the same things or agree with you. Otherwise, there will be no debates whatsoever.
