  1. Again, pmech is only benching around 36k. Other DPS builds are reaching up to 41k, so it's already 5k~ behind, and they're about to make changes that equate to a 4-5k DPS loss, so now we're gonna be almost 10k behind the benchmark of other dps classes. That's more than enough considering the build's ease of play.
  2. So now you're depriving an espec of the option to use kits. You're also ignoring the fact that medkit exists, which has to be put into the healing slot and not a utility slot. Sure, you could force the kits into utility 3, but now you're probably screwing with a huge chunk of players who have their bars set up differently. I run flamethrower on utility 4 with my scrapper, for example, and use 2 and 3 for gyros. It's not a solution you're offering, it's a bandaid to try and cover up how bad kit design is in the first place.
  3. The salt is real. On a related note, my Condi Firebrand does just as much damage as my Power Mechanist, with about the same APM, and is a better healer and support. My Power Reaper, Power Scrapper, and Condi Soulbeast are all pretty close as well with LI builds. The only real difference is that mechanist is ranged, which is what has everyone's panties in a twist.
  4. Not everyone wants to use kits, for one. Forcing it is a bad idea. Holosmith and scrapper use f5 for their spec mechanics. If anything, kits should take up engineers secondary weapon slot, and be swappable to in combat like a normal weapon swap. That way everyone can pick one kit to use with no detriment to the rest of their build.
  5. That wouldn't really work with the elite specs though
  6. More than I'd care to admit. Another 35$ today alone to grab a few cosmetics that were going off sale >.>
  7. Yea, let's just cut out the opinions/feedback of 90% of the community so the 10% can be happier. Who needs all the income flow from the casuals, anyways?
  8. Not sure there really was one. This game, for me, has always been kind of middling. It has some cool things about it, some interesting design features that other games don't have, but it doesn't seem to really stand out in any particular way, which is probably why it's never been super popular or as highly advertised as other MMO's. There's also the fact that it can be a very hard game to get into these days, everything is just a little more confusing than it needs to be, the mount grinds are ridiculous, and as soon as you hit level 80 you get hit with this massive wall of so many things to do and absolutely no direction on where to go or what to do first... it's very intimidating for newer players. IMO the best thing about the game are Charr and Asura, they're fairly unique among MMO's both visually and with their lore/characterization. Charr are what got me to try the game in the first place, when I heard about these big monstrous beast people that used guns and tanks =P
  9. A couple of them are powerful, most are worse than the old elite specs IMO. Heavily dependent on game mode too.
  10. Seems like you're just whining about mechanist at this point.
  11. I really like this thematic idea of a Norn berserker with a hammer, especially with the axe skin for hammer they've got up on the black lion store. Just wanting to know if it's a viable/worthwhile build, I have little experience with warrior or its elite specs (it's the one class I haven't played much of at all) before I invest too much into this kind of character.
  12. Seems like with the blight mechanic, Harbinger just ends up too squishy to properly solo overworld content. Anyone come across a build that is tanky enough to handle hot/pof/eod zones?
  13. Gotta love the trolls spamming confused emojis here
  14. They really just need to make the elite spec roles come from utilities, and not weapons. All weapons should be there for killing things. There's no reason to have a bunch of heals and low damage on the staff, when you can just make the utilities strong heals and then the staff deal decent enough damage to contribute to a group or get by solo.
  15. Every class should have at least a viable DPS build (as that is the role most commonly needed), and at least be good at one other type of gameplay. Some should be tankier, some should be good at healing, some should be good at support, but at minimum there should be two options for every elite. I think for the most part we're there, though balance needs a lot of work still as some of those options are overly complicated and underperforming compared to the others. I don't think I've ever seen someone seriously suggest that every spec should be good at every role, though.
  16. It's definitely a firefly reference. There's a similar reference in outer worlds.
  17. I wouldn't be so hasty to delete your engineer, I play two engineers at 80 frequently (scrapper and mechanist) and neither one evne touches grenades. Give the elite specs (one of those above, not holosmith, holosmith is trash) a try before giving up on it. Mechanist is a super low intensity playstyle and I'm loving it more than any other class in the game right now. Scrapper can also be fairly low intensity (not as low as mech) and simple; mine runs a flamethrower-juggernaut build and is pretty tanky.
  18. I hate grenade kit. It'd be one thing if the autoattack actually worked, but having to ground target every single throw is just an absolute PITA that I'd rather do without. Now if they'd make grenade 1 an actual targeted attack with a proper autoattack, and the rest of the grenades ground targeted situationals, I'd be perfectly fine with that, but any kit/weapon that doesn't have an autoattack is an absolute fail in my book.
  19. Well said. By and large, the most vocal commentators on MMO forums are always the hardcore elitists running the absolute min-max'd builds and most difficult content. Your average player doesn't bother too much with the forums, and thus their voice is vastly under-represented here. What that leads to is developers thinking the vocal minority (the endgame/elite players) are a representative majority, and nothing could be further from the truth. When changes are based on that, it's usually not good for most people playing the game. That's why, as much as I like seeing developers and community reps active on forums and taking feedback from posters directly, I also generally hope they're taking it with a grain of salt and balancing it against the actual data, otherwise you end up with a game that is too tilted towards the top 1% and it becomes unenjoyable for everyone else. Honestly, GW2 is already almost at that point, when I first started playing it was an uphill battle figuring out builds that would actually work, and the APM required here is far higher than with most MMO's. I've never seen "piano" gameplay in any other MMO/RPG before, and it's a real turnoff for playing certain classes here.
  20. Underwater content would be fun, but I hope they give the jade mech an aquatic form or more abilities first =P
  21. grenade kit is inherently flawed, it has no viable autoattack and ground targeted aoe effects interfere with movement and slow down rotations. There's a reason we hate using it. Even on my scrapper I avoid grenade kit like the plague. I'd rather run flamethrower/juggernaut and use the flamethrower for explosion triggers. Grenade kit sucks. Bomb kit sucks. Elixir gun sucks. Stop wearing it as a badge of honor that you have to use poorly designed mechanics to match up to what other classes get for free. Mechanist is the closest an engineer spec has ever come to being comparable to every other class in the game.
  22. nice to know the devs can see reason and listen to feedback now and then. Might keep playing my scrapper.
  23. ten bucks says a dev had a bad experience fighting in WvW and blamed it on the scrapper stealth gyro, and now we're here with this BS change. Charzooka is better than sneak gyro now -_-
  24. This hasn't really been my experience, tbh. There's a big difference between Central Tyria viable and Crystal desert viable, or maguuma viable, or Cantha viable. Expansion zones in the overworld are significantly more difficult than central tyria, and there are a lot of deadly enemies that you have to be built properly to take on. I can steamroll through crystal desert with my scrapper, mechanist, or soulbeast for example, but my weaver, daredevil, and untamed struggle with it at times. Reaper is kind of in the middle, since it can survive more easily but has lower dps now than some of the other builds.
