  1. Generally guardian/firebrand is recommended as the best all around spec, and unlikely to get too heavily nerfed.
  2. Problem is you can't separate the skin from the sound. I'm stuck with the loud bangs on my mech rifle because I like using the jade tech skins to match my mech =p. I don't mind it too much though. I've tried velocitas eradico but wasn't impressed. Might have to hunt down the bolt thrower and try it.
  3. sure, why would we ever have a mechanic centered around a melee character? That's totally nuts, aint it? /s
  4. no class should be 'dumpstered' in the first place, and asking for that proves that you're letting emotion get in the way of reason. The fact that you want a class to be made completely useless just to sate your vindictiveness... that's just sad.
  5. I typically use it when the post I'm reacting to is just plain stupid to the point that I don't understand how someone can have such a whacked opinion on the subject. When you don't give a downvote button for stupidity, you use the next best thing; because sometimes the snowflakes just need to know when everyone thinks they're wrong.
  6. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fungus The enemies and models already exist in the world, and I'd really love a mushroom buddy to complete my fungal untamed build =P
  7. I'd rather not have to use kits, thanks. Kits are poorly designed in the first place, and they're cumbersome and annoying to utilize. They still can't even add a proper auto attack for grenade kit, and you want us to rely on it to make the spec work? For once in the entire history of the game engineers have a weapon that doesn't absolutely suck, and here everyone wants to nerf it right away. Stockholm syndrome much?
  8. Here I am a 36 year old, 6 foot tall, 195lb dude and my favorite character is the shortest asura female you can make... lol Of course, my first character was an iron legion charr scrapper, and still one of my favorites (at least until they kill gyros in the great nerf...)
  9. I love minions for my necro, but the #1 change I want to see right now is skins for them. I'm tired of them all looking like low-poly meatbags. Give me proper skeletons and zombies.
  10. So you'd rather exclude entire elite specs from being able to participate in a large amount of content just to sate your piano-build ego?
  11. I wouldn't mind that either, or the jade mech skins in cantha. Regardless we need some mech skins. Necromancer minions skins too
  12. I just want a gorram horse. Also, a dieselpunk chopper/motorcycle for my charr engineer.
  13. No thank you, I didn't sign up for a temporary pet. Mechanist is supposed to be about the mech. The mech is supposed to be powerful. It's a stark contrast to how ranger or necromancer work, where the pets are there as support for the player and the player does most of the work; with mechanist, the mechanist is the support and the golem is the focus. That's what makes it unique, and it's fitting thematically. The people upset about the current balance don't honestly care about mechanist, they'd put it in the trash can altogether if it meant bringing back their precious piano gameplay so they can flaunt their benchmarks like some kind of egotistical badge of honor. Well, tell ya what, I don't give a kitten about their benchmarks or their ego or their piano gameplay.
  14. Maybe if you'd stop incessantly calling it "metanist" you wouldn't look like such a salty troll.
  15. Why? Why must they have a wider skill gap? Give me one good reason. All I'm hearing is that you want to exclude a large portion of the player base from being in any way competitive, to preserver the ego of the scant few players who actually enjoy piano gameplay.
  16. Probably won't even play my scrapper anymore, tbh. I just don't understand the need for everything in this game to be made as complex and intensive as possible. Are they trying to drive away 90% of the player base?
  17. A majority of people enjoying mechanist right now are enjoying it BECAUSE it's an easy class to play. I'm sick and tired of piano builds. My hands can't take it anymore. I'm sick of having to put 99% of my focus on my action bar and tracking cooldowns and having to run a perfect rotation just to get by. I want to actually see the battlefield, pay attention to what the enemy is doing, utilize and/or avoid mechanics as intended. The fact that a small elitist portion of this community wants every single class to be a high intensity min/max build, despite the fact that they are far outnumbered by casual players who are sick of those builds, is the real problem here.
  18. I'm in much the same boat and I agree. I'm tired of being forced into carpal tunnel and sore fingers just to make it by basic content. Mechanist has been great for me from the start but since coming back from a break I'm absolutely loving the new rifle build for it. I don't care about the meta, or benchmarks, or the elitist snobs who want everyone's gameplay to be based on their 1%. I care about the other 99% of people enjoying the game.
  19. Speaking as a mechanist main... I don't want toolbelt skills back, tbh. I get why so many people want them, as it's been a key part of engineers forever now, but mechanist is supposed to have a different playstyle. There are really only two things I want changed: 1. Mech usable underwater. 2. Weapon swapping in combat reinstated, either for mechanist or engineers in general.
  20. That goes against the entire thematic purpose of the spec, though. Mechanist seems to be based on the idea of a powerful companion that you support, rather than the other way around. it's like asura and their golems, or gaige and death trap. Making the mech into a weak buffbot would absolutely ruin the feel of the class.
  21. Devs definitely need to not listen to the salty players here when it comes to balance.
  22. We need more easy builds, not less. Easier builds that can still contribute meaningfully to groups means more people willing to play, or join those groups. More player inclusion is better for everyone. The only people being salty are the ones whose sense of self worth is tied entirely into their flawed viewpoint that a complex build makes them better than everyone else. It's pure ego. Besides, an easier build or rotation means you can actually pay attention to what's going on, instead of having to focus on playing your piano rotation perfectly. I don't know about the rest of you, but I find games more enjoyable when I can keep my attention on the enemy or battlefield, rather than on my skill bar.
  23. Since what you're talking about is not mech specific, and can be done by any other engineer spec, it still puts mechanist as subpar in aquatic content where we get no toolbelt skills and no mech. If depth charges had like a 5-10 second cooldown it might even things up. More reasonably, I'd like to see each active mech skill have a depth charge equivalent.
