  1. Between housing and fishing, both are seen as side activities in MMOs so both have potential to be innovated in a more functional way. Housing is also infinitely more easily monetized than fishing. It would also make Scribe more relevant. I do wonder why they decided to go with fishing.
  2. I had thought of this as well. The heavy armor specs will definitely get a fair bit less time for balance discussion among the player base. If Anet provides surveys to anyone who participates in a beta, then they could get plenty of feedback without having to generate the discussion on forums. The best thing we can do to voice our concerns is: If you play any spec and are concerned about fundamentally flawed design, be very loud. Post everywhere and post often. Drive discussion on them. Don’t let Anet ignore it and push out the expansion with more specs like Scourges or Firebrands.
  3. Issue being: 1. The game already has plenty of weapon sets to meet the needs of players who want weapons to match. 2. Legendaries being unique is part of their appeal as mythical weapons with storied past. What's the lore section of the armory supposed to say about Gen 3? The same thing for every weapon? 3. Committing to one aesthetic for the entire Gen means if you don't like it, then the entire Gen is uninteresting to you. That is an inherently worse way to present options to the players than offering variety. If Gen 3 legendaries were varied, not liking one weapon doesn't rule out the entire set.
  4. Legendary weapons getting lore in the Armory update was very cool. The weapons are all unique with their own histories. They felt like actual mythical weapons. The Gen 3 set comes off as boring and uninspired.
  5. Agreed, GW1 combat and pathing was infinitely easier to bot than the chaos that is The GW2 hybrid system. If Anet ever adds a “sunset” system to GW2, it’ll likely be an extension of what they’re already doing now: move more content into instances that can be generated and adjust the scaling of events in game to be accomplished with far fewer players.
  6. I agree with that last point and Anet should remedy that by making the current paths more accessible with an actual learning curve to content. If the current paths become more appealing then that will increase access to legendary armor. I've already seen plenty of people who got into raiding recently because armory inspired them to go for armor. A more casual path for a basic boring legendary armor set is also worth discussing but I consider that a lower priority given that the audience for that has less need for build flexibility, equipment templates & stat-swappable exotics already make for easy swapping between only 2-3 sets, and I'm not certain that audience is fully aware of the insane time investment Anet would slap on it given that there isn't a high skill requirement for most Open World content.
  7. Or the vast majority of players don’t engage with the forums at all. I can say the perspective of the forums as a place for serious discussion is not a popular one. Regardless, the arguments of these angry very few lacks the basis to give it any oxygen in a “solution-focused” discussion. I think you and I generally agree here on what would help at least.
  8. I agree that Anet bungled the release of raids, underestimated how to make the mode have actual broad appeal, and then shrugged their shoulders now that most players gave up on the mode. I just see that as a reason Anet should right past wrongs. And again, I do not agree that raiders are dead set against improvements. I don’t know where you’re drawing that from, or why even mention unreasonable protestation as relevant.
  9. Well you've posted numerous times in this thread that Anet should move a reward out of unpopular modes to modes players "want" to play, and have yet to discuss the obvious alternative of making the unpopular mode more popular. Perhaps you haven't refused to do so, but speaking so authoritatively on a solution should at least address why the other big option is not reasonable. Nonsensical protest is not a big concern to me when improving the mode is much more of a priority. Making easier versions of raids does absolutely nothing to the tier of difficulty current raiders face, nor would it affect a potential harder version for hardcore raiders. Adding some granularity would only improve the mode. Rewards obviously wouldn't be 1 to 1 across modes, so the argument that easier modes take anything away from harder modes is unreasonable.
  10. I certainly hope it discusses development of a new wing along with updates to existing content. Harder difficulty tiers for experienced players, easier tiers for new raiders, and new content for everyone to experience together would go a long way for making the mode more popular.
  11. Obtena you seem to repeatedly make the point that Anet should direct any reward players want towards content they already play, and somehow have consistently refused to entertain the solution of Anet making other content more appealing to players. Yes, adding a reward (ex. legendary armor) to barebones Open World would make it more accessible to the average player, but so would making the content (ex. Raids) more accessible to the player. Anet almost systematically set up raids to fail with a lack of a proper learning curve of game mechanics, a single difficulty setting peppered with some CMs, and little to no support on bug fixes, rewards, and new wings. Improving gamemodes to increase player interest in them is a perfectly valid solution to making these rewards more accessible.

  14. Raids should absolutely have an easy mode, probably 2 easy modes: There should be a story mode that is very difficult to fail, so anyone interested in the story of wing can experience it. Then you have an easy mode. This doesn’t offer the reward of harder modes but exposes players to the actual bosses of the wings (instead of strikes that have little value as training given that you still don’t know what the actual raid fight mechanics are). Next is the normal mode raids are at currently. Last, there should be a hard mode with more punishing mechanics and significant enrage timers. Lacking granularity is why raids failed to make an impact on GW2. Launching with only a single difficulty meant that raids would be too hard for the vast majority of the player base (who were mostly being challenged by open world zergs and simple story missions) and they were too easy for the top players. Other successful mmo raiding scenes have tiers of difficulty. It’s not a complex idea, nor is it a bad one.
  15. Correct, you must have defeated the boss once before in order to receive the necessary items from the Wing 5 chests. 1. Wings 5-7 have some hard bosses and some easy bosses. I would recommend you google the Snow Crows website. They have a raid training page that shows raid training discords for NA and EU. Those communities train wings 5-7 often and you can receive good instruction there on how to beat the bosses. I’d also recommend looking into the Hardstuck community discord as they occasionally have raid trainings. 3. You’ll get 100 gaeting crystals pretty easily just doing those 3 wings. 4. Having a reaper and a condi scourge is great because you can sign up for power/condi dps roles. 5. The hardest part of the achievements for a new player is probably beating Dhuum or Qadim1.
  16. I’m not necessarily opposed to the OP’s idea of a second set of PvE legendary armor but consider two points: 1. Rewards are always a balancing act of time invested and skill. As you have requested a set where the skill required is essentially zero, the time investment with be massive, a significantly longer haul than the long hauls you are trying to avoid. On top of that, the cost of materials for this set will add an additional huge time investment as the ultra casual play style is not a highly profitable one. Consider if you are interested enough in this item to justify possible years of time to get it. 2. Going off that point, for anyone who wants an OW legendary armor set, consider that the game making a reward to fit your level of comfort and engagement is not the only option here. There is a wonderful opportunity here to go outside of your comfort zone and to experience personal growth in the game, to explore content you might otherwise ignore. One great thing about prestige rewards in games is that the desire for it can encourage you to better yourself at whatever game to achieve it. Why do devs develop aspirational content if not to encourage us to aspire to improve? If a player spends the same time required on an OW legendary armor instead on improving their play, learning the game fully, and challenging themselves in progressively harder content, then not only will you still be on a path to acquire armor, but you’ll also be at that point a better player with more content accessible to play! The game has given you both a reward and opened more of it you.
  17. Having legendaries for a variety of game modes is understandable, but asking for the literal same rewards for different modes? Why would anyone raid for their envoy if people playing far simpler content can obtain the same thing? That isn’t how you foster healthy game modes, that is how you kill game modes. I fully believe we will eventually have full legendary armor and trinkets available in every game mode, but specific items are from specific content. You yourself said you wanted Ascension and so you did the relevant content to get it. If you really want Envoy or Coalescence, then work hard to reach this content you find unreachable.
  18. It's a really weird feeling when someone dies in a raid and the reason was they literally could not see a mechanic because their graphical settings were minimizing player models.
  19. Yes but we have no way of minimizing player backpacks or infusions. Both of which are serious sources of FPS problems. You can stack infusions like crazy and certain backpacks like the Mandala one or wings kill frames.
  20. Again, this won’t work because now you create 3 additional legendary trinkets. Despite crafting 1 Aurora you’d have two Aurora in your armory. Armory will suck in the trinkets, so you can’t trade them out. Creating new items isn’t the answer here. They should instead manipulate the stacking buff effect.
  21. Except you can’t exchange them when they get sucked into the armory. Adding dupes also means everyone has two of each trinket in armory. Manipulating the buffs sounds like a much simpler and more elegant solution.
  22. Every other legendary item in the game has a method of removing the visual effect (transmog or toggle) if you don’t want to see it. These trinkets are the only ones that require you to decide between using a reward you put a lot of effort into achieving, or to enjoy how your character looks (if you don’t like the orbs). This is an arbitrary choice and legendary items should not be this way. No one is arguing that they have to use these trinkets. They are unhappy that, due to Anet’s design of these trinkets, they have to make a choice that is not even a concern for any other item.
  23. I appreciate this honesty Neko but I really don’t want to see this matter be swept under the rug in the future when other focuses arise. Like many players, I think the PvE trinket balls look really, really bad. Cosmetics are the core of this games reward structure. I like how my characters look after years of playing. Obtaining a legendary item should feel like a good thing. Every other legendary besides these can remove the visual effect if you don’t want it. As it stands right now: achieving these legendary items would make me want to not play my characters. It would make me hate playing them. That is forcing players to make a choice between using an item they earn and wanting to enjoy playing their character. Please do not forget this.
  24. This is one of those situations where it would be nice to just hear a clarification. Do they plan on adding a toggle to PvE trinkets? How difficult is implementing it? If they are adding a toggle, how long should we expect to wait for it?
  25. It is crossing an ethical boundary. It should be treated like Twitch giveaways where a Patreon subscriber should have an increased chance of winning. Making it the requirement to participate is definitely offering rewards for payment.
