  1. I would not say GW2 is in maintenance mode considering recent news (as long as they deliver on these promises). That being said, bump. 🙂
  2. Thanks for the elaboration, I will give it a shot. Would you mind to share the build?
  3. So far very fun to play. Thanks for the build and tips.
  4. Err, how is sword not a condi weapon? Almost every skill applies condition, can't imagine how useful it is using power stats. It's not terrible but outside of sword 2 it's just very mediocre. Flurry sucks pp, impale can deal decent damage but design wise not exactly fun to use, riposte is also kind of meh, thrust is ok I guess..
  5. Variety in what exactly? I can be melee dps, or melee dps, or melee dps when it comes to power (rifle is useless). Even as bladesworn I am more or less forced into melee range because of short range on pistol and dragon slash. Condi? Only viable option is zerker with LB. King of fires build can be decent in pvp or open world but again, not very different from other builds. Spamming banners off cooldown for quickness is not super engaging either. Meanwhile Guardian has very distinctive playstyle as DH, Firebrand and to certain degree Willbender as well. Look I like warrior but when it comes to variety it's very one dimensional. Only spec that I find somewhat different in terms of gameplay is Bladesworn which I quite like after playing it for some time (initially I did not like it at all) which is ironic, because I still believe it does not really fit into GW combat design.
  6. This. Having score 121:14 literally screams that something weird is going on, yet ANet does not care even if people are blatantly abusing the system. It's hilarious and embarrassing at the same time how little they care. 🤡 "pride in our work" my as s
  7. You can get into top 250 with plat 1 ranking, that should tell you already that the sPvP is dead if we are talking about some kind of competition. You either play it for rewards and once you get them you leave, or you play it for fun (which is the small minority).
  8. Blind can pretty much shut down your big dps source which is usually burst skill, which kind of forces you to pick up the resilient roll which is not exactly ideal if you are running e.g. hammer. This gets problematic if you are playing e.g. power zerker. Condition builds are usually duelists anyway so it's not such a big problem there, but power variant is, at least from my perspective, literally gambling whether you will get lucky and hit something or not.

  10. I find Spb fine even in hands of average player, but it's clear that it's being carried by defense traitline (just like basically almost any other current warr build) and FC. Sure, there are better options right now but it's not like you are griefing your team by playing Spb as opposite to something like hammer zerker where you can nuke people with 8-10k crits while providing decent amount of CC, but all of it is negated by blind or aegis and stab, so most of the time it's literally coin flip whether you are going to have some kind of impact on the game or not. I don't know if it sucks but it's viable to some degree. However I agree that it does not fit the current meta and it requires specific environment where it can really thrive, which is something that is probably not going to happen considering the current power creep of other classes.
  11. Interesting, I usually get something within range of -10 to -15 as a hardstuck gold. -21 seems more like something went wrong with the matchmaking system if you are being in g1.
  12. They are busy trying to figure out actual meaning of word "cornerstone" (PvP in general). edit: just to clarify, I applaud them for trying different things and proving that MMOs can be done differently while still being successful/profitable, but the way they abandon content that could be improved or at least maintained to certain degree is something that is really jarring
  13. Thanks for the build! Recently I've been chilling with the the hammer build by zuko mentioned below just for some smooth brain gameplay (rupturing smash goes brrr hehe), but I am always thankful for some other alternatives.
  14. I wanted to try this one for some time, but did not have opportunity to test it out yet: https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Warrior_-_Quickness_Support_Healer Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can comment on how viable its.
  15. Depends on how you look at it. For new players most definitely due to how difficult it is to get hang of what is going on. Decent comparison would be League of Legends that has similar design problems. Current gameplay is extremely fast paced compared to early seasons, making it kind of fun to look at but difficult to learn for new people, with some situations that are basically impossible to keep track of what is going on, which can be frustrating. However at the same time you can probably get away with much more mistakes thanks to lower cd/overall boon vomit in case of GW etc., as opposed to slower paced combat with limited resources where theoretically you should get more punished if you blow your defensives too early. In other words by making combat faster you are kind of taking away that tactical aspect of how/when you should use your skills to win the fight.
  16. Yes, that's warrior hammer in nutshell. You have crap ton of dps loaded into hammer 2 which you can reset by hammer 5, yet both of them are quite slow and very predictable, very short range and well telegraphed, which is why you need to land your CC for proper setup and hope that you don't get blinded/ opponent does not have another stunbreak etc. Fact that you are not running resilient roll and cleansing ire makes you very vulnerable against conditions. You also don't have enough mobility to disengage compared to GS, which is another problem. Hammer is strong but it's difficult to utilise it's full potential against more competent player, GS is much safer option. Problem n1. with Dragonhunter is you stepping into his traps. He has very high burst but can easily die as well. Can't really comment on Soulbeast, but if he utilizes the range advantage and mobility you are probably going to have rough time against him. Either utilize LOS, take shield master for reflects and try to get into melee range for CC or go help somewhere else. For Daredevil don't stand in smoke fields, bait them out and try to land your CC. I've been playing reaper for some time as well and it's much safer playstyle. You have decent mobility and some options to disengage (shroud 2, flesh wurm), decent CC and lot of cleave which is easy to land compared to hammer spellbreaker. Hammer can carry you against newbies and some melee builds with low amount of stunbreaks, but GS is far more reliable. Note that these are just my personal observation as very average player, can't really comment on how it works in higher elo (plat and above).
  17. This goes hand in hand with suggestions like removing duoQ or removing ranked all together, both would be viable options at this point since main reasons are rewards anyway, without them majority of people would not bother with ranked in first place. As a result you get people that are playing for rewards clashing with people that care about their rank. Person that plays for reward does not care that much whether he loses or wins since you get some progression towards the reward anyway, person that cares about rank gets griefed if one of the teammates goes afk and loses their progression. How is that healthy enviroment? Trying to maintain this illusion of "competitive" enviroment in sPvP is just a joke at this point, considering that the mode still remains neglected after all these years, lacks any moderation, and the best thing we got recently are balance patches because there are actually few devs that care about PvP and are not balancing things based on wiki. You could still have some kind of leaderboard for people that actually care about having some kind of "prestige" in this mode based on their performance. Make 2v2, 3v3 modes regular instead of seasonal, either remove duoQ or merge ranked with unranked and just let people play what they want. Is it that hard to implement? No. Problem is that any of these suggestions that were brought up multiple times over the lifespan of Guild Wars 2 requires ANet to actually care on bigger level than just occasional balance patch to make the meta more bearable. They did not know what to do with this mode after whole e-sport fiasco, and after 10 years they still don't know what direction they want to go with PvP, so their natural response is to ignore it and hope that the problem disappears, which seems to be more of a culture thing for this studio at this point, and I am honestly tired of it (not just PvP but other modes as well where game clearly lacks any direction).
  18. I would be very careful about adding even more visual clutter to this game. At least until/if we get options/sliders where we can adjust amount of visual effects that gets displayed (something like FFXIV). Effect LOD does very little right now.
  19. Lack of distinctive diversity hurts this profession a lot. Yes, there are different builds you can play including support, but the base gameplay remains more or less same as opposed to some other professions with much bigger variety. I do like spellbreaker, I do like beserker, I am trying to find my way to bladesworn which is probably most unique (regardless of whether it's a good or bad thing), but ultimately the very one dimensional playstyle makes me sometimes feel like I am playing different game when I switch to something else. I like warrior but it can get kind of stale after a while, and it's hard to spice it up sometimes due to limited options warrior has right now in terms of feeling relevant in end game content (which is ironic considering how many weapons warrior can use). I don't think that warrior needs some major overhaul in terms of gameplay since stuff like that is subjective, some poeple like it, some people don't, but it should be brought to similar level as other professions (which is something they are apparently working on on judging by the recent updates).
  20. It's more tied to the combat, rather then PvP itself. GW2 in general is very casual friendly in terms of progression etc. Combat is definitely not casual friendly due to how fast paced it is, which gets even more apparent in PvP where you have that unpredictability factor due to fighting other people. That might also be one of the reasons why new people have wrong expectations when trying PvP, since rest of the game is pretty forgiving and casual towards new people. PvP is exact opposite due to how steep the learning curve is right from the start. With that being said, part of the blame lies on ANet not introducing PvP mechanics to new players properly, and part of it lies on new people as well for not willing to learn the basics and not willing to invest their time to learn the ropes.
  21. I still don't see how does that justify the damage water trident deals? You could compare it to many other skills that has far less usability. And it's not like scepter lacks damage on ele right now.
  22. Meanwhile I am still pondering why the water trident still deals around 5-6k crits. Is this intended? (I will gladly provide some screenshots) Even something like spine shivers deals around 4-5k crit and your opponent have to stack boons to get that much damage out of it.
  23. Worst is a bit overstatement. PvP is garbage but for other reasons then community, mainly because of how ANet decided to neglect it and keeps acting surprised why the mode is not popular every time it gets brought to their attention, and proceeds to ignore it again. Community wise it's probably same as in any other competitive game/mode where you directly compete against other people. Only issue is that it's much more prevalent here due to how small the pvp playerbase is, which makes it appear that every second person is toxic kitten, since there is much higher chance that you will run into one. Thing is that people are not held accountable for their behaviour, and never will be due to how internet works, so it's much easier to vent and flame other people since you don't know them, and they don't know you. You would hardly act in a same way against your teammates in real life, where there are some actual consequences. Solution? There is none. Best you can do is move the pvp chat into separate tab, turn yourself invisible so they can't whisper you, interact with your team only when needed (or don't interact with them at all), and ignore the rest. Everything else like win trading, people being AFK etc. is out of your control anyway.
  24. Nah, let's make it spin super fast so you turn yourself into helicopter and you can slam people from above. Tbh some big slam attack does not sound that bad, I never really liked the current animation where you are swinging big kitten sword like it weights nothing. Hundred blades fits more into something like 1h sword which already has flurry (remove selfroot from that pls, makes no sense). I do admit that I am not sure what would be better option, but the idea of wildly swinging 2 handed sword while running around sounds a bit silly to me. Spinning would be better, but then GS 3 should be reworked into something else (maybe block as GS on ranger? with slam as flip over)
