  1. As a casual newish player I had to wait nearly a YEAR for the hummingbird skimmer skin to come back to the store. Its a beautiful skin and totally worth the money, I was ready to buy it right away...and had to wait months and make sure I didn't miss it just to give them some money. Finally got it, but ugh - not something I'm likely to do for a casual buy.
  2. I've been jumping around myself, still alot of content to go. But myself coming in as a new player to MMO in general...I finished the main story, and then started jumping here and there. Started HOT just long enough to unlock gliding and then went and did all of POF for the mounts, had alot of fun there - started Living World 4 but got frustrated and tired of all the sand so jumped to EOD and am about to finish up my fishing mastery there. At which point I'll probably check out SOTO, then either go back to EOD to finish or Living World. Either way I'm leaving HOT until I've got the skyscale unlocked one way or the other. Sometimes I just get frustrated with certain mechanics/terrain/story at which point I"ll hop to something else. Its been very chill and not following the story hasn't hindered me much at all.
  3. All I ask is that they have a better rotation system if that is how they're gonna play it....like an ACTUAL rotation system. Because right now some things go a year or more without being seen while others show up again after just a month. We've had that recently with a few outfits and even the peg leg and some maguuma armor pieces and some other stuff JUST recently. Meanwhile, the hummingbird mount skin I want to give them my money for? Its been nearly a year. Like ok, FOMO, things available on a rotation...now make the rotation make SENSE. Offering me stuff to buy which I was JUST given the chance to buy and did not want just makes me irritated. I should be logging in and checking the gem store excited and wondering what might be available to buy....not whatever this is.
  4. I want shoes that are hooves...they already have them as part of that one outfit. And we already have various horns and antlers sooo....
  5. Thank you! And that is good to know on the fire dps, and why I see it used so heavily when I'm seeing eles. Its an extra character so I don't need to be top tier on my fighting with it probably...just wanted to know options if I can have fun running around with it for various things. There is always the possibility of really growing to love it and going to those higher levels later. Just that anytime I hear about it people aren't too jazzed so I wanted to hear about people who love playing it and the highlights to try out.
  6. So I bought a new character slot and wanted to make a male sylvari since I had a *really* pretty design I wanted to use. At first I wanted to go thief and play off the whole 'darkness' and 'shadows' thing but for me the light cultural armor is superior so...not that. I already have a mesmer I like and a necro I'm 'eh' on and don't want to double up so that leaves me with elementalist. I have heard things...mostly that they are hard. I main ranger and really like the mesmer...like having the option of ranged fighting when I can and am pretty middle of the road skill wise probably? I started playing in August. SO, I think he needs to be an ele...and I have a spare lvl 80 boost I can use but before I sink money into him want to be sure I like it ok. SO SELL ME. What are your *favorite* or best parts of playing elementalist? Best vids or posts etc. etc. I know of rumors only. Also, I always see them dealing with fire....is that the only option or is it just the most popular? Because he's a dark and white type color combo and I thought water and air would be ok....but having him wield nothing but fire would kill the look. (sad I can't change colors on fire...or mesmer for that matter, blue fire would be amazing.)
  7. You know who I want to shoot arrows at? That mastery point chef in POF you have to throw ingredients at.
  8. Hot take, I want the game to be *easier*...or at least the story part I have to complete(like a super easy option toggle for ppl like me or maybe if you're repeating on an alt and want to just get through, I will pay MONEY for that man). I enjoy the story and following along and all the little mini game mechanics of it etc....and then I get stuck in some boss type battle that I struggle with and its a HUGE slog and I just hate it. Soul sucking tedium I take no joy is struggling through a boss I have to solo for the story and struggle 15min. to slowly defeat because I'm not great at a game. Give me an 'easy' toggle where I can walk through that *even more*(I realize for the story it is harder to fail they keep letting you rezz etc. its just a slogg is all.) Ahaha, it takes all sorts of folks. And no, I don't think that will ever really happen, I KNOW the story sets you up NOT to fail. Just sayin', its not my cup of tea and the thought of having to do it again for alts is no fun. But I'll suffer it to get to the general game and more PvE I can dictate the details of myself. 😝
  9. Back here again, because yeah - I know why they do it and I know it works and it isn't going to change. BUT. BUUUU~TT - the stuff that just came back into the gem store. Some maguuma and wooden leg stuff etc. We JUST had that stuff in the gem store, like...less than a month ago? And it was there for a long time! And now its back again!! THAT is what I don't get, like what the heck. There is plenty of stuff people want to buy that only comes by like once a year(Hummingbird mount skin.....anet, do you not want my money? **nearly a YEAR**) But this stuff is cycling back again already? Thats what I really think is broken and really really awful practice. Like ok stuff isn't alawys available, but at least cycle things through on a decent rotation?! Hate this.
  10. At the end of the day what is MOST important for an MMO like this is people, people populating maps and playing the game and MAKING the world work and fun. Being designed well etc. is part of what will bring those people in but without numbers it doesn't matter if you've made the best game in the world, it won't do you any good. So I feel like for core content you have to have a certain balance of 'not too hard not too easy' and I think Guild Wars does that pretty ok. Having other aspects of content for more of a challenge for those who want it is great, but if your core game is too hard people won't enjoy playing it and will spend their time somewhere else and then you will be dead. I'm not a big gamer myself, in the past I mostly play things like Pokemon and Animal Crossing...even when I was a teen I didn't game much I'm just not very good at it and I get frustrated and then its just not fun. But I got interested in MMOs and after some research picked Guild Wars exactly because I felt like I could manage to play casually and have fun. I like world exploration and collections and matching cosmetics etc. And the other parts are fun...but I'm not very good at them alot of the time. I spend time looking up videos and guides and things just so I can get through them ok usually without too much frustration. But if the game was too hard, myself and people like me just wouldn't play.
  11. I know this was rezzed a bit, but I bought this as my first and only pass with the last sale and saw some cute things I didn't see mentioned. In one section of the map there is a small shrine with a cat, and there is a jackal kitsune shrine guardian that hangs around there as an npc. It lounges in front of the shrine and every so often will get up and walk down the hill to the cliffside to lay there instead and look over the ocean. There is also a small beach section out of the way under a bit of rock outcropping with two giant fish pulled up onto the beach and a cat there enjoying the spoils. Just some super charming little details.
  12. THIS!! My Ranger Sylvari has some many wonderful leaf details on her body and its always a huge battle to be able to see ANY of it. Medium female armor is SO much 'trenchcoat, gloves, turtleneck' etc. Whhyyy~~~ I suffer. And I don't think I'd ever play a heavy armor character. Overall, would just like a nice EVEN(between sexes) variety of things we can wear...on all armor classes. Plus I'm always in game for some nice simple base pieces that can be mixed and matched in with things for some fun!
  13. Adding to my earlier request for the hummingbird mount for the skimmer. Far as I can tell with looking online it was last in the gem store in FEBRUARY. That is so so long ago, nearly a year!! For such a great skin I'm sure lots of people are wanting to buy. PLEASE take my money, ahaha.
  14. I totally understand the logic behind why Anet does it the way they do...and I certainly don't think they'll be changing it anyway soon. That said, I DO understand the frustration and share in it to some extent. Even if they could just try to offer *more* updates to the gem store...or even something where they have a single item that is only available for 1 day. Yeah, people might complain that if they don't log in everyday they might miss it. But it would be incentive for people to log in while also making it so that items can cycle faster through the gem store in at least some capacity. I'm waiting for the hummingbird mount skin myself and feeling frustrated about it. But aside from that sometimes I go check the gem store with nothing in particular in mind to buy....just hoping I see something I like. But then its all the same things and nothing I'm interested in. Which is then frustrating since I *want* to give them money...but have nothing I want to buy on offer, lol.
  15. How do you move the chat box? I have this message popping up all the time for me and its blocking of the chat is a real problem when I'm needing to read comments in an event etc.
  16. I would love some simpler outfits options. Make them a little lessy pricey and leave some of the glitz and glam aside and just make some basic nice pieces we can use.
  17. Yes! When I first started playing they were doing test runs with a few new accounts and the raptor and I was one of them and did buy the expansions. HUGE quality of life upgrade, love the mount. Its such a fun handle. I just wish they had more really nice skins for the raptor. There are some REALLY cool ones for the other skins but raptor seems to get a little less love in that area. I ended up getting HOT, POF, Living World 4 and Icebrood Saga to start with while they were on sale since they seemed to give good rewards and map expansion. Since I'll already be off story it seems to get the mounts and I can always pick up the rest later down the road.
  18. Well, at least 400 of that gold was from a lucky sell of an Ember Infusion I got through lab farming, lol. But I inherently enjoy most gathering so have tried to make steady progress! I know the griffon takes a good chunk of gold anyhow. But glad to know my progress isn't terribly slow. Sometimes you run into posts with people making their way to 80 and finishing core in just days and I can't even imagine..ahah. I want to take a poke into all the little world nooks and crannies...also some procrastination on going further since I do need to branch out further and needed to work on build before that. I'm not fully discounting things like strikes and raids etc in future...its just that I know that in order to be passable at any of that I'm the type that needs to do it a few times. I can watch guides but actually doing the motions is the only thing to really iron things out for me...and in content where you need other people and its a time and effort sink. Multiple possible dress rehearsals can be a big ask and I get that. Maybe I'll get there, plenty of content in the meantime. Ah - button micromanaging is definitely something I struggle with so maybe I'll take more serious consideration for the other options. I don't mind doing less damage personally, just a matter of being able to get along with whoever else is doing content with me. Since I don't have a friend group to play with I have to take a more helpful angle when trying to find people to work with I'm guessing. And it sounds like Marauder is the ticket! Glad to hear it I was definitely concerned with being a bit of a glass canon on my own with Beserker but that was what I was most seeing mentioned and wasn't sure what would be next best with more balance. Thanks so much for the tips!
  19. Hello~ so I joined end of August so still pretty new and pretty casual? Sometimes I log in to play 6 hours and sometimes just 30mins and sometimes I disappear for a week because life is hard. But I will go outside of the game to watch videos or guides when I'm confused or trying to figure something out(which sadly happens alot, there are ALOT of cogs and gears happening in this game and I am terrible at most of them) or sadly when I just want to make sure I don't *completely* fail at something in 'public' lol. So far its been super fun! I'm not much of a gamer, but the exploration and more chill aspect got me to try and I very much enjoy the world exploration etc. Its been pretty positive! One or two bumps with nasty people being less than kind in open world events(which....sad, its an open world event I could literally stand around and watch you all, tag the boss once and make a general pest of myself but I wouldn't. So the fact that people are willing to berate folks for not knowing exactly what they are doing etc is so sad for them!! *Still* haven't gone back to try triple trouble...will eventually, but put a bad taste in my mouth.) 98% good experience and lovely people though! Biggest question though, is how to get my ranger to at least a *decent* place. Because right now I've finished my main story, at about 60% map completion and gotten about 700g but I'm still running around in whatever highest number armor I got along the way with no thoughts to type of stats, sigils or...whatever else there is.(There is SO much, omg, I only just learned about a speed sigil passively in a lab run for making it easier to keep up.) I'm gonna be totally honest, I'm not great at games in general, my mechanics are probably pretty poor. I use action camera because I find it just easier to navigate and sometimes I get spagetti fingers and find it hard to keep track and everything going on when there is a big fight with so many colors and shapes and just STUFF. So I have done some poking around and it seems for general open world exploration and the basics the way to go is Berserker? My worry here is that currently, my dps is definitely trash, lol, but I do have alot of general 'healing, vitality, toughness' etc. because I generally play alone and I REALLY hate dying. And I'm not a great player so I definitely get my knocks in. I play long bow main and can swap to axe and dagger when I get in a situation when I'm in close quarters or dealing with multiple enemies. Not looking to change these weapons, I can remember all their base skills by now and like the variety it gives me and am happy there. I like being able to run through open world and pick off things at a distance. Hit it with lb1 or 2 and then either pet keeps it at a distance or I can knock it back with lb 4 or start out a group with lb 5 and then switch to axe and dagger when they get close. Lets me hit multiple targets and if I need a break axe/dagger 3 gives me a pause or 4 lets me reposition if I'm feeling overwhelmed and not sure how to reposition. I'm quite comfy with this and at this point don't do raids, fractals, WvW, PVP or any of that. I'm not adverse to doing so in the future but hesitant to get into it since I don't think I'll be very adept and gotta be honest when looking up guides its.....alot, just ALOT. Look, I'm old, keeping up with my job, pets and mortgage takes up too much of my brain capacity so the rest of me is just kind of slow. 😂 So my big questions is if I still need to go with all berserker gear or if there is a certain amount of something else I can do/give myself to make me a big tougher. Right now even if I'm in boss type fights I can take a hit or two and manage through with healing and repositioning. Also, able to take lower hits while rezzing someone which is nice. I haven't taken too much thought into what to specialize in although consider my type of play, probably Untamed? I started unlocking Druid because it was just the top of the list, also, I got a pretty staff 'Spring Warmth' at Dragonbash and it was pretty, lol. Not totally against changing things up in future for maybe something druid, I do like healing and rezzing but that would require me to be in the thick of things and...yikes, ahaha, future problems. I do have two other characters, a Necromancer and a Mesmer, the Necro I have mixed feeling on but I'm actually REALLY enjoying my Mesmer so far....but not familiar enough with her to know for sure what weapons I want to use and I'll use my main for most things. I'm a hoader though and do have some other things to work with in my bank as well!(Space for bank and inventory is no joke....ouch) Plus decent gold to spend if I must. - Tequatl's Hoard(ascended weapon choice) - Tateo's Armor Chest(ascended armor, but I think it has cleric's stats) - Chained Chest(exotic weapon choice) - Courtly Weapon Chest(exotic weapon choice) - Mad King's Gift x2 (ugly exotic weapon choice lol) - Chest of the First Spear(exotic weapon choice) Also have some other things like exotic holographic weapons and boots/backpiece from Dragonbash and some Dragonbone weapons and spring warmth staff. So with weapons, just...pick whatever has highest numbers and best looks and throw on whatever sigils and add-ons you have with the best numbers or perks you want? I CANNOT tell you the weirdness I feel when I have extra exotics or skins. Just....I guess....after unlocking them if you don't/can't sell just salvage them with the mystic kit? So strange feeling, hate that, if I had more bank space I'd hoard more things forever. LAST question, I am sorry I have been so chatty and long winded. Trying to decide how to move forward now I'm done with the main and 80 and got enough masteries to get auto-loot(oh thank goodness). In an ideal world I'd continue to the story in order, but I've heard things about HOT and it sounds like I would have a MUCH easier time with at least 1 mount that could give me a bit of height. ALSO, not gonna lie...I love the mounts, so kinda just wanna go to POF and get the mounts(aside from Skyscale I need to go into ep 4? But I've heard its a huge slog) So I'm wondering if my experience will be totally ruined or if its totally fine...and even then if I need to at least start HOT to get gliding first. The sale on the Living World Episodes are also ending soon and I was thinking of buying some while on sale but was torn on which to get...I've got plenty of content to get through currently but would like to get them eventually so wondering if I just need to now or if there are some I should cherry pick first and then worry about the rest later. Overall, having a very fun time! A few bummers but easily shaken off and definitely in the minority, I'll probably try looking for a guild at some point. Again its just a feeling of running into those few people that don't have patience for people who might not be super great at the game, which, fair...but I don't wanna run into them either so. 🤣 Fairs fair.
  20. I was super pleased to finally be able to get veiled chameleon as I'd been wanting a skin for my raptor. There were also some *really* pretty griffon skins but I don't actually even have the griffon yet so raptor seemed the better choice...its such a fun skin for my sylvari.
  21. I know the idea of a giant spider already got axed but....I still want, lol. I want a giant spider mount that can just climb UP the sides of things. Aside from that, something with better speed and turning in the water. Moving underwater is always a bit of a slog.
