  1. No... please read the whole patch notes. So from rank 1-149 you get 1 extra pips, 150-669 you get 2 extra pips, and so on.
  2. I don't see any resemblance to Engineer - engineer has tool kits while revenant has actual legends from the world of Tyria, very different theme. Swapping legends is also very mechanically different from using tool kits: Using tool kits only puts them on a 1 second cooldown, where you use the relevant skills and probably swap back to your weapon skills, while with revenant swapping legends is a huge deal depending on your trait setup: It can reset energy to 50 or 75, give you Fury, trigger sigil effects, give you other boons and/or do AoE damage and condis, and remove 1 condition. Legend swapping therefore is also the main way you gain energy back, which is different from thief's Initiatives system. On revenant you also have to manage cooldowns, which thief's weapon skills don't have. I do agree there are similarities, but the overall themes and mechanics of the two classes are still different, and the two classes are still very much unique in their own rights. Because of the above, I would say Legend swapping together with the energy system makes the class unique enough for me. As for the roles, it's true that I can't guarantee Condi Renegade will still be meta forever, or Alac Ren will always be able to bring 10-man alacrity. What I have come to appreciate the class for though, is its mechanics as I've described above, and the versatility the legends bring. I do have concerns about the mobility creep EoD might bring to the game, but that won't stop me from playing Power Herald in WvW - the synergy between Glint/Shiro and sword/sword + staff is something I still won't be able to find on other classes. I have enjoyed it since 2018, and new elite specs don't mean that I will stop enjoying it.
  3. For what it's worth, yes there probably have been instances of builds being nerfed to the point where they lost their identities. I can think of Staff Weaver in PvE, which should have been a squishy but high DPS build, considering there are a lot of damage skills on staff and Ele is inherently squishy. These cases however are not common and definitely not a widespread problem, but a problem with Staff Weaver in particular and has been raised many times over.
  4. Yes - and they are thematically and mechanically different, again what is your point? You are arguing about a class having to be the absolute best at some certain thing, and that's not what the Lead Designer said at all.
  5. To be clear, the classes you list mostly each have their own niches. Warriors bring banner, Condi Firebrand can bring quickness, Power Dragonhunter is bursty but falls off in longer fights, Ele excels on large hitboxes, Revs can absolutely delete breakbars, etc. Not to mention the classes' themes are inherently different. I main a Rev, and that's because I like the Energy and Legend Swapping mechanic, and my favorite build is Power Herald, because of the flow between Glint and Shiro. It's been that way since 2018, through updates and patches - I enjoy it for the theme and mechanic. If ANet nerfed the build to the point of being unplayable, that would be a balancing issue - but it being not the meta build doesn't mean too much to me as long as it's still a viable option. Why are you so persistent in chasing what a class does what best? Why is that important, unless you care about min maxing (which I doubt since you pull builds off of MetaBattle and give the impression you've hardly done those contents)? Why are you so worked up about the idea that tomorrow this class won't be the best at this thing anymore? Again, It might be a problem if suddenly the build is no longer viable, but simply not being the best at a specific task isn't the end of the world.
  6. To answer the original question directly, Revenant can provide permanent 10-man Alacrity. Revenant also has arguably the best solo open world PvE build in Condi Renegade with very high DPS and best in game sustain (Battle Scars + Runes of Tormenting). It also has the meta ranged DPS build in WvW Zerging with Power Herald.
  7. And what is wrong with that? What's wrong with having options? I'm glad that we have these options, because I dislike the themes of Guardian, Thief, or Warrior, and I'm bored of playing Elementalist. So I'm glad I'm having a blast on Holosmith right now and it's something I've never thought of before, because I have just started playing Holosmith recently and found out how fun Photon Forge is, and I'm glad that there is a viable build for it. I also like the theme of Longbow/Greatsword Soulbeast, and I'm not a fan of pets, so one day I might be able to try that out too, knowing that there's a viable build for end game content. And what if all of those options are still somewhat too complicated for some people? Well there's still Power Reaper which has a low skill floor, Kitless Holo which is easier than the meta Holo build, and etc. I am glad that we have options, and it is healthy for the game. This is probably the only post I've seen that complains about the game's build diversity.
  8. It is obvious you wrote this post not to seek an answer with the Revenant class but to complain about the game not fitting your ideology of how roles work with the game's classes. And if you keep thinking that each class must absolutely have a well-defined strength that stays true for the course of the game, then you're in for a bad time. That is why when recommending new classes to new players, people almost always recommend mostly on the classes' themes and flavors, and not what the current meta builds are - because at the beginning that's the most important thing, to enjoy the game how you like it first, then worry about meta stuffs later on. You don't have to play the best class - that's the thing. It sounds to me like you're not even at the point where you have to worry about min maxing yet, and yet you're worrying about what you're playing now might not be the best for a given task tomorrow. You can absolutely bring a viable build you're good at into fractal/raids and succeed if you know what you're doing - better than chasing meta builds all day long without being good at any of them. People have been using Power Reaper for god knows how long, and it still works, and it's very easy to learn and not hart to master. I also have no idea how you come to the conclusion that Ranger/Engineer is redundant. Heal Druid is very much in demand, Power Soulbeast is still a good DPS class, Power Holo is also simple and very affective, Quickness Scrapper is also very much viable. Having many choices for a given role is a good thing and a healthy thing for the game - I'd much rather have that than having just a single class/build for a role and there's no option for diversity.
  9. That sounds like a good start. I also start off fights with Icerazor, Darkrazor if the target(s) has a breakbar or can be cc'd, or Razorclaw's Rage otherwise, and swap to Mallyx. Once you're in Mallyx, turn on the Elite skill to pulse Torment and use weapon skills - for mace/axe it'll be 1, 2, 3 and 5 (all gives good damage and condis, while 4 is only good imo if you need a teleport), and for shortbow all the skills are good for condi Renegade. As for the F2-F4 skills: F2 (Heroic Command) refreshes the duration of Kalla's Fervor - 2% (3% if traited) damage per stack, max 5 stacks, and gives you mights per Kalla's Fervor stack. I try to use it off cooldown to give me 15 stacks of might. F3 (Bombardment) is probably only good on very large targets, and on power builds, so I don't use it while I'm on condi. F4 (Orders from Above) is expensive, I only really use it when I have excess energy in Kalla. I try to use it when I'm in a group event and there are other people that can benefit from it. I hardly use it when I'm by myself.
  10. I don't think the logo has to be the elite spec's weapons, 4 daggers or 2 longbows don't make much sense to me. Could be ritualist based on GW1's ritualist icon. I also agree that dual daggers as power weapons don't appeal to me, we already have dual swords and Shiro.
  11. What's the problem with drop rates and WvW exp? Why is there a need to nerf them?
  12. I use sw/sw almost all the time on my rev. - Power Renegade Sw/Sw + Staff for open world PvE (Kalla/Jalis) - only sometimes when I need tagging I switch to shortbow instead of Sw/Sw. - Alacrity Renegade Sw/Sw + Staff for instanced PvE, meta build. - Power Herald Sw/Sw + Staff for roaming around in WvW.
  13. It fits the purpose but balancing was around the old numbers, now celestial gives way more total stats than everything else and that's not its purpose.
  14. Yep that's true, and even back then with how much damage we had I had no problem against power classes so I ran leadership specifically so that I could fight condi mirage. As for the traits do you think Brutality is best then? I can't check right now but it doesn't proc on legend swap right?
  15. I'm running cleansing already - it's been meta since 2 years ago and back then my worst matchup was condi mirage which could apply condi continuously. Also because they also nerfed boon duration back then so I ran leadership to help with that.
  16. Leadership runes are pretty good at condi cleasning though right? Back then I ran durability runes too but I didn't like them as much as leadership runes. The rest makes sense, I'll do those things. Thanks!
  17. So I just came back to the game after nearly 2 years and I'm trying out WvW roaming again with my power rev. Is it still viable? I'm feeling like sword offhand's damage is way lower than I remember and sword 2 is also somewhat clunky (like the second tick of damage only occurs around the initial tick's location and not around the character?). Staff 5 feels like just an evade now, can't really cc anyone with it. This is my build- Invo/Devastation/Herald with a mix of zerker/marauder and a bit of soldier.
  18. That's the way Rite of the Great Dwarf works: It's a stun break skill, so upon using it instantly breaks stun (if the rev is cc'ed) and consumes energy, since one of its effects is already activated (whether the rev is cc'ed or not). Therefore it makes sense for the skill to consume energy right upon activation. Try using Shackling Wave and canceling it before the waves come out (by dodging or stowing weapon) - you'll see that the energy is not consumed.
  19. Have a feeling you and your supporters didnt even bother reading the list if you think point number 9 would kill WvW in anyway.Ok then, we agree I'm only 88.8% correct? 6 and 8 would also not really kill WvW. Could be potential positives if implemented right so 6/9. How do you pair servers exactly? Seems a bit unrealistic to me. A large server can also tank to try to get a link. That's the best way to lose more players. Punish people for playing in maps they like - what if they hate all the other maps? Theres always a way to beat the system. Its a good idea, unrealistic for it to work perfectly. But wouldnt kill WvW if it did manage to actually make it through. No one said anything about punish. It boosts rewards if they go to a server thats not queued.I think we know that they won't do 6 since alliance is coming (hopefully).

  21. Ele doesn't have an unified color scheme, it's based on the current attunement right? Doesn't the same idea (attunements/legends) also apply to rev? Also at least all the skills in one legend have the same color scheme, and all weapons have the same color scheme. Weaver's colors are all over the place lol.
  22. The GvG thread? ANet looking to support the GvG scene?
  23. I got a question - I doubt if this build is good for open world PvE, compared to other builds. I can survive pretty well with full zerker Sword/Dagger weaver (fire/arcane/weaver) - not to mention FA Tempest Dagger/Warhorn, which is arguably the best Ele build for open world PvE. Other than that, this was a fantastic guide, and this build is definitely strong in PvP/WvW. Thanks Cellofrag!
