  1. A nature offensive mage. Druid already does that, it's the "ranger version" of mage, some games call it shaman, others call it druid but it's a nature mage. All we need is either a 2 hand CC melee weapon with defensive physical or preparation AoE ranged It's poor at doing this job. Beside, granted how player hate on CCs at the moment they might very well be nerfed to the ground in a year or 2.This community hates on everything everytime, although it would be great if Anet for instance starts nerfing the actual elite and not the core spec. You can explain what you mean by nature mage then

  3. I don't consider this to be a support. As you mention, it is basically a condi dps spec. And additionally uses buffs then to enhance the damage of their team as well.I am using party benefitting buffs with holosmith as well, for example by using hard light arena. Still consider myself a damage dealer in that scenario, even if I bring some group buffs. I am expecting what is requested by alot of people on this forum already: a hommage to the infamous bunny thumper from guild wars 1.Give ranger a hammer with CC abilities (mostly focused on knockdown), physical skills which also enhance their CC and defensive mechanics like blocks, for example. Playstyle could resolve around the ranger CCing the enemy while their pets are attacking them. Maybe could build in features like having both pets out for a set time, while they have a stat malus on themselves to not make it overbearing. Now let me ask you: what do you expect from the next elite spec? Forgot about drawbacks yes...this time around the drawbacks must be implemented from the start to avoid overnerfing of core specs in the end
  4. I finally decided to entirely dumb elementalist, so transfered legendary armor and such on necro as a 3rd main, I was already familiar with the traits and gameplay but now I get to play with stats and gear and..oh boy.. Using : death - Soul reaping and Reaper ; I use cav/knight stats for testing and I am basically a tank with zerker levels of dmg, reaching 2.7k toughness - 2.4k power - 55& crit chance and 230% crit dmg while having mobility(firework runes) + 3 stunbreaks on moderate CD ( wurm - spectral and "You are all weakling") and 22k HP. And people call you names and such for pointing things out...ok then, had to nothing to lose and jumped on the bandwagon....wait for me to come up with a core necro build...I could make a video out of it. Overall the bias here is at insane levels, there is zero objectivity and people should really play other professions before claiming they have it bad on necro.....
  5. I think soulbeast have more than enough survivability to have a bruiser playstyle, thought. The spec is far from being frail when you consider defensive pets like black bear, the various stances and the natural survivability of the ranger. Having defensive tools doesn't make you automatically a bruiser elite spec, tho. Holosmith also does have quite some defense and sustain in their arsenal: heat therapy, photon wall, spectrum shield, hard light arena, light density amplifier, prismatic converter, crystal configuration: eclipse. The reason why this elite spec has these tools is not to make it a bruiser, it has been pretty clear from Anet that the intention of this spec is to be a dps machine in the first place. These tools are there to enable holosmith to function as a melee dps spec. If you are going into melee to deal damage, you need some survivability to enable you to do so. Unlike a spec like Deadeye, which can attack from afar, this spec has to get close to danger to pull of their damage numbers. And you can't deal damage if you are dead immediately, hence why this class gets these tools. If you are familiar with the terms of League of Legends: holosmith is a skirmisher, a melee damage machine that has defense built into their kit to buy them time to do their thing. Looking at soulbeast, I think it is the same for them. They are melee dps machines (dagger as a melee weapon added to them just like sword to holosmith) and they get tools to enable them doing so. It's hard for me to imagine that soulbeast was not intended as a dps spec if it straight up outdamages dps specs like holosmith and berserker, which are clearly intended as high damage options for their classes. Some more evidence I see in their design:Elite spec weapon: Bruiser specs are usually heavily CC focused, including their weapons. Scrapper, spellbreaker, daredevil are examples of bruiser specs which are clearly intended as these and they all have hard CC located on their elite spec weapons. Soulbeast doesn't have a single CC on their mainhand dagger at all, it is entirely about damage.Minor traits: Both the master and grandmaster minor trait are entirely damage focused (dealing more damage while you have fury, dealing more damage to targets you disabled)Beast attacks: There is a wide array of different pets, therefore you can get many different effects. Secondary effects of the fusion can vary, but one thing is consistent. Fusing with a pet will always give you access to another ability that has the primary function of dealing damage. You can get supportive fusions, tanky fusions, more damage fusions. But they all will deal another damage ability.Defensive mechanics: I already mentioned that holosmith adds more defense to the spec. If we are looking at the defensive options for soulbeasts, we see that they share quite alot of mechanics with defensive mechanics of other dps specs. Examples: eternal bond | dead or alive, dolyak stance | spectrum shield | "rise!"You forget that rangers have access to Longbow on core, if you introduce a bruiser spec, you'd be able to be a powerhouse at melee range but still be a threat at range with the right stats/traits like MM-WS-new elite line....let's not give the criers more ammunitions to cry nerfs on ranger; should that happen soulbeast/core ranger and in part druid would suffer from the dip in DPS of longbow. I repeat again : Ranger does not need anymore sustain...you know the GW2 community as much as I do..the second you introduce a sustain spec for rangers...it's the second you destroy the class, I am lucky...we are all lucky that ranger is still strong and viable despite the nerf campaigns about boonbeast and druid bunker, the class simply won't survive a third nerf campaign, it already falls behind in PvP, the class is still enjoyable as roamer/harasser in WvW and I want to leave at that People should not expect to play a longbow warrior 2.0, the class was meant to be a duellist/survivalist...not a frontline tank and boonbeast proved us all that it can be easily abused, it wasn't fun to fight boonbeast and we're all glad is gone. We can already play an excellent bruiser with core ranger...we don't need core ranger 2.0
  6. I honestly stopped using ele...now it's just a subpar class that shines only in a small circle at low PvP levels, nowhere else it's worth using the class given the effort required...glad I saw this coming a long time ago and prepared myself accordingly..RIP what could have been otherwise a fun and competitive class. The class stopped being fun to use around 5 years ago, it got a tad better when fire weaver was at its peak...I just hate to put more effort than the next guy who's getting results on a different class/spec by smashing buttons off CD that's why I enjoyed pre-nerf Fire weaver. If you want high skill requirement to be competitive in PvP...I am all for it....but it must be so for all professions, it doesn't make sense that on one side you have builds a monkey could run at first try and on another you have builds where a degree in quantum physics is required " To do dmg on weaver you need to see 30s+ in the future"...that's absurd , why the kitten would I put myself through that when I can play something press F1 and do crazy dmg in AoE range ? or chain blocks/evade for days? or stealth, run and pewpew from distance?.....screw the 30s+ in the future ....
  7. While in pursuit of the unicorn balance, many specs have been deleted, amulets and runes removed...but PvP only got gradually worst. Despite their claims, professions get treated unfairly with clear bias behind many decisions.
  8. That would be a grave mistake, ranger does not need a sustain spec, guys try to understand for people would be far too easy to come up with some broken shit if a sustain build would be added to ranger....remember what happened with boonbeast and druid bunker before it, nothing good ever comes from having tank sustain builds Look at ele, massacrated by nerfs etc etc, this community hates tank/sustain/dmg builds and right now ranger balance hangs on a thread, any more sustain nerfs and the class will collapse in WvW also NO to tanks builds, ranger needs non-projectile AoE dmg burst with non absurd cast time , without much sustain because rangers who want to play frontline tanks can still give a go to soulbeast, tweaking the immobilize build is enough to get something working to have fun at least
  9. Effort=Less Popular, just pick the hardest class/spec for you to play...that's the less popular
  10. Reason why guardians and necro are a Favourite among the playerbase : AoE, AoE and more AoE and more importantly instant cast PBAoE, basically the professions with the quickest activation on skills, the most access to AoE will be always a must for most players. Both super easy to play, no combos to learn - just press 1-2 buttons for amazing damage , multiple builds across all 3 specializations, best professions in WvW- easy bronze to platinum1 professions requiring close to zero PvP knowledge: just run/zerg to the point pressing buttons off CD and you have easy to access sustain at that level Extremely effective for the effort required and by contrast takes more effort to fight against them than playing one....and people still wonder why you see multiple iterations of any of these 2 professions in multiple gamemodes...
  11. Who doesn't have a guardian these days? Super easy to play, multiple builds, good/decent in every role, welcome in every game mode. It's not super strong anywhere...just very good everywhere, you can never go wrong with a guardian in GW2 but yeah...it falls behind the truly dedicated on all other professions
  12. These are the kind of errors you'd expect from an indie developer who relies on fund raising...not a triple A company with a multibillion publisher behind them
  13. Having huge reveal about elites and other base new features like alliances and legendary armory got little to do with spoilers I believe
  14. How do you know the elites are set in stone? I believe this game has had major profession overhauls mere months before a release. I know it has happened in other MMO’s. By now the concept and idea behind each elite must be set in stone and this got little to do with actual balance which comes before and after release
  15. Companies like Square Enix can release class info 2 years before the actual expansion drop, Anet instead can release a teaser...of a teaser and after one year no more info. What about? 1)Concept art of new elites? - They are already set in stone now, at the very least you can indicate what each new elite will focus..we don't even need gameplay video 2)Hint for new features....alliances? legendary armory? 3)Location of the new expansion like possible locations? 4)Monsterpedia? After one whole year not even a single new info....
  16. To the grave... and beyond! Well objectively the thread was enlivened by Arheundel......who roams with boonbeast, immob druild, and longbow/GS hit and run sic em sniper (all 3 builds hardcounter necro and 2 of them are overpowered in general) excessively in wvw and therefore disqualifies himself for any criticsim on the necro class. I did showcase to him how kitten any non-speed rune + speed of shadows reaper build is against any ranger build he brings to the table for one evening in wvw and he is still on his agenda. I guess it's hopeless. He just wants a free-win against players that are clearly on a higher skill level than him. 95% of the nerf cries in this forum are delusional players. I've seen so many of them ingame and what skill level they truely are. And the loudest nerf crying players are usually the ones playing the broken fotm builds at the same time.Really I roam with 4 different professions : ranger - ele - guardian and warrior , but have necro too, just no enough gear for him In WvW for now at least. Really...I never whisper people, never did so.....because I don't need lol Where I roam and succeed with a core ele d/d.....others jump on a core necro and talk of "higher skill level".....go figure, imagine needing a specific rune set to accomplish anything....an elite to cover your behind when outplayed...and an unconditional trait that alone can turn a tank into a bursting tank, there are no time limitations like they are on an air ele ( needs fury and extra ferocity only last 5s ). I wonder what will happen now...will I be reported again for posting on the necro subforum? receive nasty message in game from unknown individuals?....been there done that I am not worried
  17. It doesn't matter really...you could put Obsidian flesh on a 180s CD and you'd still have people claiming that ele is fine as they can go d/f and be invulnerable, dunno what else there is left to nerf on weaver: -Primordial stance nerf - check-Fire line Burning rage trait nerf - check-Lava Skin nerf - check-Obsidian Flesh - check x 4 ( from 30 to 40, from 40 to 50, then changed to channeling and then from 50 to 60...people still bloody cry)-Riptide nerf - check x 3-Earthen vortex nerf - check x 2-Twist of Fate nerf - check-Stability uptime nerf - check-Barrier base numbers nerf - check I stop here but yeah...you still get people crying for more nerfs and they will do so until playing ele will means that you go out of the base with an automatic message blinking on top of your character saying : "Kill me for an additional free 5 pts"
  18. Sure do it, give all the defense possible to a core necro MM. I mean If it's a "MM" it probably won't take to long of your time anyway. You're pointing out CDs, I'm pointing out that you actually have many choice of skills that can all be taken together. Look, that's Ele D/F if you want "CDs":2 dodges and easy access to vigor for a 50% endurance regen rate increase (allowing the elementalist to dodge 3 time where the necromancer would dodge 2 times. You won't disagree with me here right?)Burning speed evade skill on 15s CDEarthen rush evade skill on 18s CDShocking aura on 25s CD (not really a true damage avoidance skill, but quite annoying for the attacker)Swirling wind 6s projectile destruction on 30s CDMagnetic wave 3s projectile reflection on 25s CD (+ 3 condi cleanse)Earthen ring Block missiles on a 6s CD.Obsidian flesh 3s invuln on 60s CD.Gale 3s knockdown.Convergence 3s weakness on 8s CD.Comet 2s daze on 25s CD. That was just D/F alone (no trait, no utility). It's overkill but I could add like you said:Earthshield and it's various skills on 60s CD (but well if you manage to pick your second bundle the invuln is on 30s CD)Fiery GS and it's various skills on 120s CD (fiery wirlwind still having 5 second CD when you wield the conjured weapon)mist form 75s CDArcane shield 3 blocks on 45s CDSignet of air area blindness 25s CD.Gliph of storm: Sandstorm 11 pulse of area blindness over 10s on 40s CD. NB.: If an enemy can use your conjured weapons then it's a bug that ANet need to fix not a feature. But I'm pretty sure it's not the case. The CDs mean everything to me, anything above 50s CD is excessive and clearly overnerfed , it's too risky and not worth to play "high risk builds" that rely on long CD defensive rotations between one burst and another and otherwise...the CD would be sort of justified if the burst would come from range which is not the ele case, a class mostly forced at melee range. Logic dictates that melee builds should have shorter CD on defensive skills...not longer which is the case for most ranged builds, you listing all the defensive utilities/skills of ele mean very little when it's the ele player the one who need to push to apply pressure ( unless you talk about PvP where you just sit on the point making things easier ) Those players who can make ele appear OP are truly praiseworthy, they can make something work with very little, to juggle between conjures, weaver rotations and kiting while having a mere 13k HP is not easy feat, not as easy as pressing F1 3-5-4 or elite 1 spam, those ele players do all that at melee range with no ranged option available other than 2 CC to get close and set up combos after careful planning You have taken this defensive stance like elementalist is easier to play than necro while being more survivable and doing more dmg, none of those are arguably true instead we can see the actual opposite happening This is quite funny though, it reminds me of what was happening years ago with necro, long before the whole buffing process started, we had players like : @Nos and @Zombify claiming that necro was fine and players simply had to learn to play....fast forward and we have things like core necro, scourge and reaper, that's all fine good but now we have those same necro players claiming that ele is fine...as long as you play like a Top 100 AT player...isn't that hypocritical? Ele is fine and strong as long as you are : @Grimjack or @Blamthrax or @Boyce or someone else at that level of dedication isn't it funny though? I guess necro should have been left at a level where only players at the same level of @Nos could make it work. After 8k hrs I can't make ele work like that anymore in PvP...maybe some of you in this thread can show the forum how it is done
  19. Now of all the ones you have mentioned tell me how many can be used in the same build. I answer you 1. you can have multiple locks but only use 1 that is feasible. Only 1 what? I mean, unless you didn't really read properly, I said that all these options were available to use. Just slot earth shield you'll have 1 invuln, 1 reflect, ton of barrier and protect. Use focus to get another invuln, projectile block, projectile reflect and condi cleanse. Use dagger and you'll enjoy 2 evade skills and projectile block. We are at 1 MH weapon, 1 off hand weapon and a single utility skill slot used here. Yet that's already 2 invuln, 2 reflects, 2 evade skills, a projectile block on 6 s CD, barrier, cleanse 3 condi, weakness output and boon prot access. What more could we get from 1 elite, 1 heal skill, 2 utility skills and a bunch of traits? 8 conditions cleansed with ether renewal? Another invuln with mist form? 3 conditions cleansed from cleansing fire? A 5 seconds CD evade skill on fiery greatsword? What would that make? 3 invuln, 2 reflect, a projectile block, 3 evade skills, 14 condition cleansed throught 3 skills used, weakness and protection? You're free to build how you want, thinking that only a single option is valid is a lock you put on yourself, not a lock that ANet put on you. In fact just using D/F prove your argument wrong. You forgot to mention skill and utility CD, for new players : 1) Mistform - 75s CD2) Obsdidian Flesh - 60s CD3) Conjure Earth shield - 60s CD4) Fiery Greatsword - 180s CD This is more than enough to prove how wrong you are...unless we want to start comparing a d/f ele with the all defenses possible to a core necro MM and see where we can go from there P.S conjure earth can be picked by enemy too for the unaware
  20. For CMC the plan was to apply a ground level foundation and then smooth things over, he did foresee and openly admit that many builds would end up being OP or UP after the patch but that everything would have been solved with follow up patches...that never came to be.
  21. Don't you think that's an heavily biased argument you got there? Just from core and without even including traits, elementalist got the ability to equip defensive mean amongst:invuln (Obsidian flesh, mist form, fortify)block (arcane shield)instant mobility often coupled with dodge frame (lightning flash, burning speed, burning retreat, Lightning leap, Fiery whirl, fiery rush, earthen rush, updraft)Reflect/block missiles (magnetic aura, magnetic surge, magnetic wave, ring of earth, swirling wind)Without forgetting about barrier access (crippling shield, stone shift, magnetic shield), boons (protection, vigor, stability), conditions (weakness, blind, chill, cripple), aura (frost aura), hard CCs... etc.Even elementalist's ability to condi cleanse options are underestimated granted that at any given moment you can have up to 4 cleansing skills sloted (Ice elemental's crashing wave, cleansing fire, ether renewal, cleansing wave, magnetic wave, healing rain) I doubt there is another core profession with this many active defense skills and effects available in game, maybe elementalist relying on heal burst isn't it's only option to stay alive. I would say that the reason build disappear is often narrowmindness, people focusing on a single aspect that proved to work well at a moment and forgetting that there is many other aspects that only wait to be exploited. NB.: Traitlines and elite specs only had more to this list. As I stated in past comments, the CD is way to high on defensive skills, the downtime between them is too great to allow a smooth transaction not requiring a huge investment in healing power, on top of that conjure casting time makes them a liability that requires precise "foresight" from the player, where a player on other professions can afford to be at ease by simply looking one step ahead....an ele player must see 3-4 steps in the future for equall or just about better results. Not even I after 8k hrs spent on ele can look that far ahead in the future and plan my next move accordingly, that's why it's rare for me to lose to an ele player, players that make ele appear OP are as rare as white flies . There is no more arcane/fire celestial d/d or "immortal" Tempest, what you see now is 100% pure skill, again I consistently lose to the same eles I known for years....certainly I don't lose against Tom or Jerry who started ele few months ago and same cannot be said for other professions, few months is all you need to become a threat...maybe not serious threat but still one nevertheless. On paper and by word of mouth it seems as ele is the most OP class while having this and that but in practice it takes few days for new players to realize all they heard on the forum about ele was horse manure. People always try to shift the focus on the ability to stay alive..well good for you I guess but...I can play something like mender SA thief and never die too, good good but now can you actually kill anything?...d/f...d/f...d/f yeah we get it although if it was really that easy I believe that gold/silver rank would be populated by d/f eles and not by guardians/necros am I wrong?
  22. Well I'm sure that is not true, for the majority of the PvP players. And if it isn't infinite seems like it very much, more they do too much of everything. Not everyone playing PvP are Top, so the rules shouldn't revolve around top players, but the majority of the players. @Akilles.4320 said: Well I'm sure that is not true, for the majority of the PvP players. And if it isn't infinite seems like it very much, more they do too much of everything. Not everyone playing PvP are Top, so the rules shouldn't revolve around top players, but the majority of the players. The game has always been balanced based the "feedback" coming from the top....if not for that you would not be here as whatever you're playing right now would have been nerfed to the ground a long long time ago, if things would be balanced around anything but the top then : guardian-necromancer-engineer-ranger would sit at the bottom of the food chain and not the opposite being true Playing ele is anything but a walk in the park and this comes from somebody who played an ele for 8k hours, now on other professions I can perform equally or 2x more while having spent on them only 1/8 of the time, where I lose duels on ele....I win with close to no effort while using some other professions, that's the skill difference required to perform above average only on this class These days I barely even use ele...I just stick to guardian/ranger and achieve 2-3x more while having 10x more fun
  23. There are no infinite frames...no weaver build require more than 1 player...The spec itself is subpar unless played by skilled individual Ofc fire waever is only for ultra instinct ... lolAverage ele player uses just ToF , it's easy to read average ele...anybody who plays an ele and then have to face one...will know when and how to dodge..And when cc you The vast majority of those losing to a fire weaver simply go ham mode while ele is using primordial...has just switched to fire(hence triggering fire aura) or has ova skin up (hint-it's the only source of stability..a single stack)
