  1. And you're white knighting content that isn't very good on the basis that it's unrealistic to expect more. If the sin of the past is that they didn't charge more, then maybe if the game is doing so well they should invest more into it, develop more, and charge more for it. Makes sense to me.
  2. Maintenance mode is a sustainable format, too, you know? That doesn't make it superior. I want more and better content than we're getting with SotO and I'm willing to pay for it. If the game is really doing so well, I think they could afford to invest more into it than the $25/year worth of mediocre content they're pushing with this model.
  3. At the same time, essentially telling people they don't know what they like is complete nonsense. PoF/LS4 wasn't without its issues, but it was a LOT more content and there was plenty to like about it. I look at the quantity and quality of content released then and SotO doesn't even come close to measuring up.
  4. Some of those episodes were pretty loaded, too. I remember "a star to guide us" in particular had a ridiculous amount of achievements and lore. Compare to a third of a map with a really short story and not much else. And this on a per quarter release cadence following a 2 map "mini expansion", where LS4 followed PoF with 5 maps, elite specs, mounts, etc.
  5. This should be pretty easy to understand. Players prefer more content. LS4 gave us full maps and more story and they did it immediately following a full expansion. SotO isn't even close in that comparison.
  6. New player counts are up! Great! Let's put some more resources into developing content! These new strikes, 10 minutes of story, and 1/3rd of a map ain't it.
  7. To each their own. I love the competitive aspect of it and I think the controls feel great. Once you get the hang of it you can just hold down the forward movement key through the entire snowflake segment.
  8. Winter Wonderland needs an overhaul why? It's arguably the best JP in the game. Multiple difficulty levels. Decent repeatable rewards. Mechanics that force a fast pace. Somewhat competitive with other players present and a leaderboard. Quick respawn on failure. Festive music and aesthetic. I admit that I don't care for any of the other events and I just participate for achievements and skins, but I think Winter Wonderland is great and I wish they had something designed with a similar concept available on a permanent basis.
  9. The answer depends on what you're doing. Dagger/warhorn isn't meta for anything, so I assume we're talking about open world/story content. In which case celestial or trailblazer condi builds are generally a better option, especially if you're playing mostly solo as opposed to running in squads. In solo play you'll deal better damage while also having much better sustain.
  10. You don't have to visit an NPC to unlock skills. Just open your character panel and skills are one of the icons on the sidebar.
  11. 30+ times over. The comparison was per month subscription revenue vs. per quarter revenue, so less than 1/10th the dollar amount becomes less than 1/30th the dollar amount on a per quarter basis. But of course that doesn't include any other revenue beyond just the subscription fee (i.e. no cash shop, no game purchases, etc.). So the actual comparison would have WoW at its peak outperforming GW2's revenue today by significantly more than 30 times over. While that doesn't provide us sufficient information for direct comparison, only the most devoted of fanbois could possibly entertain the idea that GW2 has ever been remotely close to as big as WoW with that kind of disparity.
  12. None of that makes any sense, but if you want to believe that GW2 was ever even remotely close to as popular as WoW, it's your world. Do what you want!
  13. Active subscriptions is not in the same zip code with total number of accounts created. To put it in perspective, at 12 million subscriptions WoW was earning 180 million USD per month (not including any other sales) while GW2's latest quarter earned less than a tenth of that in total revenue.
  14. Just curious. What does it look like without jade tech?
  15. Wouldn't it be great if those equipment templates allowed us to have a full look complete with visibility toggles, glider, and mounts? Right now if you want to show your backpack, shoulders, etc. on one template you have to show them on all templates and whatever skins/dyes you use for your mounts/glider are the same for all templates. Wouldn't it be even better if you could then save full appearances and store them for future use similar to an outfit, where you just select it and apply it to a template without changing anything else about that template (i.e. stats, etc.)? Bonus points if we can name each outfit and perhaps leave a note about it to better keep track of them. Maybe even a way to organize them within the window like bank slots.
  16. Communication is good. Delivering on the things you communicate about is also good. But ultimately what matters most is delivering a sufficient quantity of quality content. I'm not feeling that with SotO.
  17. Yeah, I'm skeptical. 15 seconds is around 45k DPS. Some power builds can burst much higher than their benchmark DPS, so in theory it might be possible. But it does seem unlikely because they would need to self-stack vuln from zero and also manage the breakbar at 50%.
  18. He's talking about power builds using jade tech buffs so they don't have to supply their own boons. With full boons you can melt Balthazar down in 20 seconds or possibly less with some builds, but I don't think it's possible otherwise. The best I've personally done self-buffed is about 24 seconds, which I can do on Trailblazer or Viper weaver.
  19. Here's me just pushing buttons off cooldown and camping fire. 20.6k DPS.
  20. I second this advice. Condi scepter is the easiest weaver build and its benchmark is nearly as good as power sword. It occurs to me that you can't be doing less than half the damage of other weavers due to rotation issues alone. You're probably unfamiliar with the flow of the encounters and you're out of position, which kills your DPS on melee builds. A ranged build will be more forgiving. Scepter also has no AA chain to deal with.
  21. I don't know that catalyst has any inherent sustain advantage over weaver other than the ability to rotate to water without losing DPS. However, it does have better access to boons which is important for a power build in solo play as your damage tends to be pretty low without them, especially if you're also sacrificing for sustain. By comparison, I find that a condi build like trailblazer weaver can deal similar or even better damage over time to fully offensive power builds with boons (up to 25k dps) in solo play without quickness, fury, and consistent might uptime.
  22. Yeah, if you're still struggling with sustain running full trailblazer with elemental shielding and cleansing sigil, I think it may just be an issue of learning how to play weaver. With 3.1k armor, over 20k health, near 100% protection uptime, and plenty of cleansing, the sustain is pretty extreme. If that is the issue, it's also worth noting that scepter is significantly easier to learn than sword as it's ranged and you deal your damage in just fire and earth instead of fire, earth, and air. But hey, if hammer catalyst is your jam, then go with that!
  23. They actually built the solution right into it with the Unravel skill. The problem is you shouldn't have to waste a utility slot to access it. It should just be an F5.
