  1. He has been talking about this for some time time. And he is not quitting GW2 but is shifting his focus to WoW classic as he has never played the game. Will this be a hit for GW2 community. It most certainly will be as he is probably one of more known content creators. It wont be hit in terms of "people quitting because he quit" as some of you here wrongly suggest with your gymnastics approach to twitch/youtube community but it will definitely be a hit in sense of some people who already are jaded to continue loosing faith in the future of the game and continuous sense of player base falling a part- which can then lead to them quitting.
  2. Fresh Product.....vanilla WoW. lol ok. It is a fresh product as it hasn't existed for over a decade now. And a lot of current MMO players have NEVER experienced it. Your witty simplistic comments don't change that. A lot of people in this comment section don't seem to understand how consumer behaviour works. Just because two products have different "target audience" doesn't mean that they are not competition to one other. Especially if this is already happening.
  3. Unless GW comes up with strong update there is high chance that some players will switch to WoW. There is simply too much hype train around WoW Classic at the moment, and a lot of people have never played it. At the end of the day people will gravitate to fresh product that is abundant with life and activity, not the one that lacks it. At the end of the day, if potential players who never played GW pick up WoW instead of GW, and lack of updates drains the existing playerbase your net result is going to be a dead game. That is already happening with the PvP community The fact that GW2 and WoW cater to different type of players doesn't matter since player base of GW2 already isn't a single homogenous unit with only single preference and products within monopolistic competitive markets still do compete with each other and competition isn't just about keeping your consumer from switching to a new product but also about getting new consumer to pick up your product instead of competitors. And this is where GW is obviously strugglingFor a personal example, unless something changes with GW2, I am probably switching to Destiny in September. And these two games are barely similar genre. Recent "explosion" of popularity of ESO and FFXIV show quite clearly that perception of quality and perspective future matter extremely when gamers pick up their game. That's why renewed interest in ESO and FFXIV far surpasses that towards GW2.
  4. Again, their idea of giving us "trait options" has fallen flat on its face. People will still pick the very same traits they did before since only thing Anet did is reshuffle modifiers.I'm not sure how this changes anything for either PvP or PvE when we are talking about selected traits. It seems that symbols are going to be slightly stronger which is probably going to translate into slight buff for PvE but probably wont be anything significant for PvP.Condi builds will probably see decent increase in damage, while pDps will have some spillover effect from faster burning procs. Overall, nothing game changing in my opinion
  5. I like the idea simply from the perspective that it could tone down the numbers and also make the game feel "fresh", which is a bit ironic in a way. I also think that having a "no-elites" for a short period might actually contribute to change in perspective of balance On the other side, it might be unfair to people who do not own expacs if the core builds are voted out for a period
  6. Healing skill is used after the casting time is completed. Thats why you arent healed during casting time and thats what separates "cast" from "channel" Instead of insultingly screaching at people you should understand that statements are interpreted. And other classes have similar effects working just like this one is working now
  7. One of the most comparable traits, ranger's Soften the Fall, already function exactly like this, and has been like that since they added it to trigger on heal aswell as fall damage. Live Fast, the one that gives Fury and Quickness on Beast skills is triggered after the skill, not before (which would have been a lot more useful). Sounds pretty ignorant to claim that guardian is the only professions with these "common sense changes". Sounds pretty ignorant to quote me on something I have NOT said, as I have not said that other professions don't have these mechanics. I have said that guard is the one whose are being changed. As far as I know, skills you have mentioned have always applied traited effects as intended. They weren't just randomly changed one day MesmerThiefNecroEngineer These 4 professions see both elite profession weapons used in meta builds. Can't remember when was the last time i saw pistol thief, dagger necro or shield engi (scratch this one). In any game mode. I was talking about weapons available to a profession as a whole, not just weapons gained via elite-specs
  8. Scrapper's hammer sends it's regards. Seriously though, agree on the lb thing SB does not use dagger.Soul beast does not use dagger MH. Anywhere.Herald does not use shield. Anywhere.Plus DH and scrapper LB and hammer. It is a consistent problem, not DH exclusive.I agree very much with this. Of the top of my head, mesmer is only profession that has all its weapons used at least in some way and game mode. All other professions have some weapons that barely see any play. To be fair, this issue is unsolvable in my opinion as its deeply tied to the game design. The fact so much of our skills are dependant on our weapon choice will always result in some weapons not seeing usage as its impossible that they are equally useful and balanced. The fact that forums are flooded with complains and that LB issue has been a known issue for more than a year now shows that this probably wont be addressed any time soon IMO, the best we can hope for is that they start to rotate "flavor of the month" weapons so the game at least feels fresh to us players
  9. "Use of skill" can also be interpreted to mean when its actually cast, and not when you click the button, as effects of the button aren't actually "used" until casting time is completed
  10. And for what kind of game content are we talking about? While it is possible to make build that does these two, its quite another thing to make a build that does these things well at the same time
  11. And if the player in question hasn't ever done raids or CMs before? Can't just assume players know something because they experienced it in top tier content only played by a minority of players. :hushed: Yeah, but there is usually someone in the party who can explain this. Or if the party wipes multiple time, a simple google search can explain this.
  12. If you are playing power build, berserker is almost always the main and only choice fo your gear. Also, you can always exchange stats on ascended weapon, so I dont get the issue here to be honest xDIf you have ascended sword as offhand, make it berserker for chrono, and you can then change it into viper's for your weaver
  13. I mean, this kind of mechanics where an effect is applied even before skill is fully cast should have never been in the game. Effects that are triggered by a skill should apply only when skills is actually cast, not upon click. But the issue is that again its only the guardian that gets these "common sense" changes which makes the class relatively fall behind (RI nerf another example)
  14. I mean, we do know there is a "spirit" of Glint for example. But thats not what sons of svanir worship nor is that the same type of spirit Spirits of the wild aren't actually a spirit of a specific, particular, single bear or raven. Rather they are embodiment of specific ideals associated with those animals. So i would say that its unlikely there is "Aurene dragon spirit" out there So far as we know there is no Spirit of the Dragon
  15. Sword is better in PvP and is better on bosses that prefer short bursts in PvE. I agree that scepter is generally better in PvE, but sword has its uses
  16. I like it how you decided to be a douche AND misinterpret what OP is asking for (hint, its not raid guides). Advice I would give to the OP is to spend some time in Lion's Arch. There are always players advertising their new and upcoming guilds. These are usually entry level guilds that themselves are training for raids and are welcoming to forming raid training sessions
  17. Bane signet, Sword of Justice and Shout of your preference for 3 utility skills. For elite you can take "Feel my Wrath" or Signet of Courage Weapons - Take Greatsword and Sword/Focus or Greatsword and Scepter/FocusIf you are having trouble surviving equip mace or staff as one of your weapons as in leveling zones those will heal you for quite enough. Also, in open world leveling, the need for weapon swapping is minimal so need for two offensive weapon kits is diminished. Traitlines should be Radiance/Zeal/Virtues. Do not take anything else as your biggest weakness as a guardian is small health pool and this will force you to learn how to dodge and use your defensive skills (don't take this as a dogma, as there are situations where its quite fine to take a more defensive traitline, obviously)
  18. Tank will never be a real thing in fractals in this game. In "standard model" tanks role is to focus attacks of enemies and prevent allies from getting attacked. In a game where everything is pulsing AoE, tanks can't have that "traditional" role as your allies are going to be damaged regardless of what you do. Other roles that you have mentioned exist and are almost always used in T4 and CMs. T4 LFGs almost always specify what role or class they are looking for
  19. Maybe a tome or a spellbook as a new weapon for magic-themed specializations or professions
  20. And how many of those tools are actually used in actual builds? Not trolling, genuine question. Because to me it seems that not to many do Berserker in raids and WvW at least use Blood Reckoning, Headbutt, and/or "To The Limit!" to fuel their bursts. Some others use Berserker's Stance or Signet of Fury. There was one guy, I forget who, that was raving about Opportunist from Arms (I prefer to take Signet Mastery myself). Disc gives you +5 adrenaline on weapon swap by default. Burst Mastery gives you a refund, and non axe users who use Disc take that usually. Axe Mastery itself gives +2 adrenaline on a crit with Axe, and if you run axes you run Axe Mastery. Cleansing Ire builds adrenaline upon getting hit in addition to the condi cleanse when hitting with a burst and people take that often. A fair number of the 'tools' are tied into other functions, so many of them get taken along for the ride. It's actually hard to not have good adrenaline upkeep if you run Discipline, and most warriors run Discipline because it is 2019 and Fast Hands is not baseline yet. And none of this brings in cleaving and hitting multiple enemies at once, or multi hit/fast attacks. Things that you have mentioned are not really used in PvP. Sure, you CAN use some of them, but then again you CAN use pretty much anything. It doesnt mean that it produces a valid or legit build that people will actually play. The only semi-legit skill is Berserker's stance and its not really all that goodArms is seldom run since GS is still the meta weapons with Strength traitline. Opportunist and Furious are not that good because of internal CD on opportunist and bonus value on furious isn't really that valuable in PvPBurst mastery requires you to actually use the burst skill first, so its a "catch 22". Not really a source of adrenaline So that means you basically have +5 on weapon swap.
  21. And how many of those tools are actually used in actual builds? Not trolling, genuine question. Because to me it seems that not to many do
  22. This is simply not true. You have to be an idiot to not understand what is going on in WoW. In guild wars 2 on the other hand you need to have actual solid experience to understand why and how someone died. Its not issue of what is old, boring or bad. But what can a new or potentially interested player process visually as information about the game and its mechanics/features. And GW2 with its flashy action oriented combat with mega particle effects and boon/condition oriented combat is a great mystery for uninitiated. I havent played WoW since the burning crusade, and I still sometimes watch WoW and am able to understand what is going on even if i dont know the name of skills for example. Its simply way to easier to process. "You press button. Button does X damage. Maaaybe it will do some additional effect. The end." Guild wars 2 is nowhere near that.
  23. The game is borderline unwatchable unless you are already proficient in the game. Its not just the visual noise but the overall ebb and flow of the combat. Not to mention such details like boons and condis or class-specific mechanics that can drastically change the outcome of the combat but can very often be missed by spectator unless they know what they are looking at. Simply put, if you are new or potential player, watching GW2 endgame is like watching explosion of colours with no context.
  24. Shouldn't Kralkk's body be destroyed after he died and his magic got absorbed?
  25. Its damage isn't that impressive. Its just that most classes perform pulsing/ticking attacks so when you press one skill you hit multiple times and you get hit back multiple times by retaliation in turn. In honesty its actually a form of anti-spammer skill. Or at least that's how I always saw it
