  1. you do not have to do it playing the elite specs, i got the one for virtuoso even though i was playing chronomancer when i beat the final mission. that said, 9 times is ridiculous imo.
  2. the siege turtle and cannons deal bonus damage to anything with the 'reinforced' buff, which is primarily used in three locations, the rubble and shields in dragon's end, Fort aspenwood in echovald wilds, and the gates in drizzlewood coast. (unfortunately the siege turtle does not do damage to taidha covington's gate, tested it myself) other than those two examples, there isn't an efficient use of the turtle, but it's fun to roam around with the siege turtle and a friend blasting things to pieces and taxing around people who may have a hard time reaching certain places. a siege turtle with upgraded jump jets gets almost as high as a springer with an upgraded high vault, so many (but not all) locations in path of fire (and end of dragons since you can get the springer in EoD) built for springers can be maneuvered by a siege turtle too. the siege turtle's slam also deals defiance bar damage, so useful against enemies that have them up all the time, i don't think the siege turtle's slam is quite fast enough to deal defiance bar damage to bosses with temporary defiance bars. but honestly, it's mostly a 'make of it what you will' mount, since it's not optimized for most locations.
  3. this sounds like a bug, but it's possible that there's some weird stuff happening because of the other players who didn't have the blue buff. maybe they were using the same conditions you were? and because the boss is immune to damage and conditions from those without the blue buff, it might have removed all stacks of the conditions that you applied when they applied the same condition? this is all speculation though, i didn't run a condition build when i fought the spirit of illusion.
  4. 200 writs of the jade sea is a ton of effort, dont know where you're getting the idea that it requires no effort. that's a LOT of meta map fails to go through to get the siege turtle.
  5. honestly, not a bad idea. besides you'd have limited ammunition anyway so there'd always be more reason to hop back into the drivers seat to gather more ammo. (personally i'd also like the ability to switch seats with the person who is shooting so that i can do some shooting while my friend who may not have the turtle can drive around with it sans masteries that they don't have) great suggestion imo. EDIT: lmao someone made the swap seats thread in the main game discussion board, did not see that.
  6. honestly this is fair. I've been doing some thinking since i made my post and there is still a problem with difficulty since it's basically impossible to get all 50 or so people in an open world map to cooperate like you'd want them to on a strike mission for instance (strike mission requirement is for other threads) like this is a very decent first step towards giving the community what it needs, but ultimately the problem lies with the difficulty of the meta itself rather than the rewards imo.
  7. I got very lucky that i was in an organized group after the first nerf. for both the meta that i succeeded on and the strike mission i succeeded on.
  8. Honestly, I am not sure I see the problem. This is one of two options proposed by the community. Aren't we happy there's an alternative now?
  9. Oh yeah! you're totally right, i forgot that when i wrote the comment. i'm on the same boat as you, i would much rather have unique buttons for mastery stuff rather than unique buttons for novelties.
  10. I really liked the story, it's the best storytelling that arenanet have done so far. tapped into things that i'm naturally inclined to love so i'm biased that way, but honestly the whole experience was great for me. i'm excited for what comes next. been wanting to finish these story elements for a while now. gw2 has so much more to offer story wise so i'd love to see it.
  11. oh that's some good news regarding the meta. i'd still like to see more changes but for now hopefully it'll be enough to increase success rates.
  12. I pre-purchased it. Honestly gw2 is the only game I pre-purchase, because I know I'd enjoy it, and I absolutely do enjoy it.
  13. this is essentially what WP said in his video and i agree with it. it doesn't tackle the strike mission issue but that's a different discussion going on. i don't know why they didn't do this initially. they have the technology to do it because they already did it with dragon storm, so why they didn't is beyond me. this would be the perfect solution honestly, the hardcore people get content for them that's separate from the content for casual players and everyone ends up happy. don't see why anyone would disagree with this since it gives everyone what they want.
  14. If you speak to ela makkay in new kaineng, up on the gardens where the hero point is at, you see that they changed the lore.
  15. i shouldn't even respond, this is clearly bait, but here it goes. you're not entirely wrong, but you are somewhat incorrect. there's two parts to this debate, not just one. 'i want turtle' is absolutely the bigger of the two and the most prominently talked about right now. this is the biggest talking point and it's what i've personally resorted to discussing because i've become exhausted talking about this whole thing. the other part that doesn't get talked about as much is 'DE's meta is too hard'. i would have enjoyed the meta far more if i didn't have to worry about failing every time to get the turtle egg. but the meta would have still been too hard for casual players to enjoy. the biggest draw to the meta IS the turtle right now. remove the turtle and there would absolutely be fewer complaints overall because instead of talking about the meta, people would just avoid the meta in its entirety. that's what i absolutely would have done had the turtle not been locked behind DE's meta. i would have played it once, said no thank you, and then left it at that. and i would have been wrong to do so. because the meta being hard IS wrong. it's the wrong move in its entirety. but the people i've argued with about it on these forums have endlessly argued that it's not hard, despite not knowing how casual players play it, so the conversation shifted. and it was wrong to shift it away from the DE meta conversation because that in and of itself is a huge flaw in the expansion, because DE's meta should be accessible to the public to get the whole story, there's even an achievement called 'true ending' for playing the meta before finishing the story instances, showing that arenanet really wanted everyone to experience this meta event. however, it's obviously been flawed as evidenced by all the complaining about the meta event and the siege turtle's relation to it. there's something massively wrong with the way it currently is. this way arenanet gets what they wanted, people playing the content, but the casual players aren't playing it out of a desire for fun anymore, they're burning themselves out on a meta event that's very difficult and that's not rewarding if you fail at it. the meta can also be trolled by people too, not as much as before but still can be. arenanet have nerfed the fight once already and have said they're open to nerfing it again or removing the turtle entirely from the meta event, which means they know they did something wrong here. the community is right to be outraged at this and arenanet was right to nerf it once already. they just need to nerf it again, reduce boss health by a good amount or extend the timer on the boss fight (or both), but more importantly they need to also remove the rng behaviour of the final boss, i've heard and seen for myself that the rng invulnerability periods can be extreme when it comes to this boss fight. if the boss had regular mechanics not defined by rng, we would be seeing fewer complaints over all. so yes, the turtle is one of the two reasons why we're having a debate over this issue to begin with, and by far it is the bigger of the two reasons anyone is talking about it. but the second reason is still there, the meta is still too hard for open world content, to the point that players are gatekeeping it by requiring KPs and LIs on this boss fight. and that should not be the case.
  16. this pretty much sums up the point well and is why the strike and meta need to be removed as requirements. for all my posts explaining over and over again this summed it up brilliantly.
  17. yes there is something wrong with that, it was an expansion feature that was heavily marketed, even beta tested, and said to be like the roller beetle in acquisition which is clearly untrue because of the high difficulty of both the meta and the strike mission. and the fact that the turtle is ONLY used in open world means that it should be acquired solely through open world content. we're going to just keep going around in circles, so i'm just not going to engage with you further. ETA: lmao it really is pointless to discuss it with you if you're going to insist that the strike mission is easy which it factually objectively is not easy for the majority of open world players.
  18. yeah that's not a good enough line of thinking for me. if they wanted people to try a strike mission once ,they would have allowed acquisition on failure and success rather than just success. as it is it will require several tries for groups of open world players with unoptimized builds to play raid like content two times, first the open world meta which has its own dedicated threads and then strike missions which this thread is about. it's open world content, the siege turtle doesn't even factor into strike missions, there's no good reason to lock the siege turtle behind strike missions. and that strike mission is hard man, i did it and i have the turtle and i'm still saying its hard. i got friggin lucky that i got the turtle. it's not accessible to players who play solely open world content. it should not be this way.
  19. what kind of an argument is this? the turtle is for open world content. why should it not be accessible to people who only play open world content?
  20. you're not a casual player, you don't understand what its like to be a casual player. those solutions aren't enough, especially for people who have real world issues that prevent them from getting better at the game (such as people who have disabilities). the only solution (and i truly do mean only one solution) is to remove raid like requirements from the turtle acquisition. that means no dragons end meta, that means no strike mission requirement.
  21. i'm gonna ignore 1-4 for the moment. that's not what gatekeeping means. gatekeeping in this context is done by players, not by the developers. what gatekeeping means is thatplayers essentially tell other players that they are not allowed to enjoy something because of fairly illogical reasons. they're the people who say 'oh you like star wars, name every ship model'. thats the kind of gatekeeping we're talkingabout. the kind of gatekeeping you're doing by saying that only the people who can complete the meta and the strike mission should have access to the turtle. that kind of gatekeeping is always bad and arbitrary. it's essentialy telling people they're not allowed to have fun. everyone should have fun with the turtle because it is fun. it's a cool fun thing to have. i get and understand that you agree with the meta and strike requirements, but those requirements are simply too difficult for the majority of players to get over. honestly i don't even know why im responding to you about this, your mind isn't gonna change. i just hope the developers listen to the playerbase and change the requirements of the turtle to make it more accessible to more people.
  22. no one is asking for a freebie, they're asking for changing the two raid like requirements to something open world casual players can play as. and by open world casual, i mean the definition of casual that is 'players who don't play difficult content'.
  23. hence the word 'that'. as in 'not that casual' as in there are different levels of casual. as per the above, does that answer your question?
