  1. no expansion is currently being planned, or at least not worked on. just because they went from season 4 to 5 doesn't mean they're not working on an xpacIt's in this article: https://mmorpg.com/guild-wars-2/columns/guild-wars-2-more-than-just-a-damage-number-1000013464#PX8XQz63Ol0dTtvM.99 "Back in 2018, Mike Z sat down with us at Gamescom and revealed that Guild Wars 2 would not get a third expansion, at least not any time soon." Sure, it's an interpretation of mine, but I think it seems to suggest they're not actively working on one.
  2. I was wondering the same thing; the only information I have is that all contact with Cantha has been cut off due the the deep sea dragon, and that Anet specifically have stated that no expansion is currently being planned, or at least not worked on.
  3. In all honesty, I really don't see how this would improve combat in GW2. I tried to imagine all those different markings on the ground in a fight with a lot of mobs and a lot of friendlies, but it just seemed that it would be a huge number of fields on the ground that would be impossible to figure out. In today's GW2 combat, most if not all aoe damage is telegraphed so there's already options to get out of them. Most big damage is telegraphed by the boss' movement, and to me that already is a lot of indicators. Adding even more would be confusing. Perhaps you could elaborate on how you think it would improve combat?
  4. In all fairness, in your original post, OP, you wrote: To me it kind of looks like your suggestion was to strongly devalue the current per-character birthday gift, which is kind of the same as removing them - not entirely but almost. I mean, today we get for out 6th birthday (per character): 2 Birthday Boosters1 Experience Scroll (level 60)5 Teleport to Friend1 Triumphant Dye Kit1 Birthday Card2 Black Lion StatuetteThis isn't a small gift and while most of it is obtainable by other means they can be really expensive. I would guess that this may be why many people still think you want to "remove" the per-character gifts.
  5. Today's system is a bit strange in that when the oldest character on the account has a birthday, that also gives the account-level rewards, like the title and the backpack skin (and some more I can't remember atm). I would be in favor of changing that so you get the account-level reward on the anniversary of the account's creation. The rest of the system I like; each character's birthday is honored with a gift, of increasing magnitude each year. I would not like to see that replaced by a small token reward, as the OP suggests. (I also don't agree that you get "punished" for deleting a toon, it's more that you're removing yourself from rewards - but that's more or less beside the Point.)
  6. No one is denied the ability to play. There's not a single meta that can't be done when new maps open, unless people arrive after the start time. Sometimes, perhaps often, people on the new map spend too much time trying to get into other maps, instead of starting an LFG for their own. https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/bx5o69/elonian_metas_one_week_later_community_thoughts/ spinalcloudRe: Casino Blitz - I believe this is correct. Both overflow and new maps are locked out of the meta. Seems you are wrongOverflow maps can deny you certain events that can give you a hero's choice chestIf we define "meta event" as a set of linked events that lead to a finale (and I believe that's a pretty common definition) then it make sense that you should do the entire meta for it to count. If a meta event is scheduled to start at a certain time, as many GW2 meta events are, it makes sense to me that there needs to be people there at the start to make sure it progresses. And if there aren't people (or the map gets spawned after the meta start) it makes sense to me that it should fail. Many players seem to want to arrive only in time for the finale, expecting others to have done the earlier events in the chain. This might not be the best strategy for these timed metas. On the other hand, if people are there in time for the start and it still does not, or if they don't get the end reward, that should be looked at as a bug.
  7. To me it just seems like a thinly veiled proposal for open world PvP, so I sincerely hope this won't happen.
  8. Each map is entered by the first or second mission of each chapter. So, for example, the 2nd map (Sandswept Isles) is entered by completing the first mission of the chapter Daybreak. As an alternative, if you find someone (friend or helpful Citizen) who is willing to go there you can Teleport to Friend to them.
  9. Thing is, you can't buy the game (or an expansion) with gems, only real-world money.
  10. I am one of those who can not make it to more than one instance of a boss, and I don't feel "unjustly" treated by Life, the Universe, and Everything. So please, OP, stop this social justice war.
  11. There's Another way to make this easy - glider works in the lower parts of that area, so what I do is I slide down on the left side then as I get closer to bottom I deploy glider and all's well :)
  12. Exactly and Istan was a mess. Couldn’t even see what was going on so if nerfing it means a better playing experience then fantastic. There is zero link between the nerf and the business model though OH I agree, zones for farming have zero relation to game revenue ... though some people don't understand that. yea, you totally cant convert the gold to premium currency, and use it on cashshop itemsthe idea is ludicrous Those are gems come from a pool of gems that have been "sold" for gold already, so no revenue is lost. lol...do you know how money works? if i buy 20$ of gems, and you have gathered enough gold to convert those 20 $, where does the companyget the last 20$ from? god? Here's how it works, according to information published by Arenanet themselves (l-o-n-g ago): If I buy 800 gems for €10, this creates 800 gems.If I convert them to gold, I effectively sell them to a pool of gems available for others to buy for gold.If you now buy 800 gems with gold, this removes those gems from the pool and transfers them to you. At the same time your gold is added to the pool ov gold available to buy for gems.If you now spend these gems in the gem store, you get one or more items or services, and the gems cease to exist. So, in effect all that's happened is that I spent real cash once, you get items, and some gold was effectively transferred from you to me (albeit indirectly). So in fact there's no double set of transactions here, and no Money lost.
  13. Yup, meta and dps meters are closely related and they are a problem. What I hate is when people see an underperforming, struggling player in the group. What do they do? Kick them out. Why don't you tell them: "You're doing it wrong, do you need help with your gear or build?" This is what the priority SHOULD be in massively multiplayer games, not speedclearing content. Helping each other is too mainstream, people only care about Gold/hour. In a perfect world this would be the case. Unfortunately most people - or at least most people I've come across in game or irl - aren't the tutoring kind, they would love it if people were better at things, and they wish "someone" would go about teaching them. For this reason I don't really think it will happen, but people will continue to kick underperformers and patiently wait for that elusive "someone" to fix the problem.
  14. For the Optical Sensor, are you killing birds in the correct spot?I was killing birds all over the isles but when it didn't drop in a reasonable amount of time I checked on Dulfy and apparently there's only a specific set of moa in a specific spot that will drop the sensor.
  15. Will 3rd expansion happen? I have no idea, and since PoF launched recently I'm not going to worry at all about whether or not the next expansion will launch in another couple of years - I'm focused on enjoying the game and assuming I'll get to play it for the foreseeable future.
  16. First time I did this I had no clue about using the flame to kill the shades; I just kept on trying different timings and eventually found out that it's possible to light 2 flames before a shade puts out the first, and then no 2nd shade will spawn to kill the other one. This way, I was able to gradually get the flames lit, one by one - and finally got the mission done.So it's indeed possible to do it without killing the shades, but it's hellish...
  17. I'll have to disagree with the OP, at least in part. Sure, the story is not to prepare for raids or other high-end stuff, but it's also not meant to be facerolled. While the scruffy fight was tedious and it required a bit of movement I can't really say that it was hard. I was downed once during the fight, and of course died once during the massive unload phase, but for a first try I don't think that's too bad. I hadn't researched the fight at all so I just played it as it came. I didn't change my build at all. All it took was to move out of the aoes and I was just fine. And no, I'm in no way an expert player; I consider myself quite average.
  18. Curses, foiled again! But that just confirms your statement... hyperbole is everywhere!(Then again, if it's actually true then your statement isn't hyperbole in which case it's no longer true... I hate causality loops, they make my head hurt!)
  19. I absolutely disagree with this; there's an abundance of mastery points so the few points we get for the jump puzzles are inconsequential. Also there needs to be some small incentive to running JPs, and for me any little "extra" that we get as recognition is just fine.Alternatively, if these rewards were to be removed from JP's they'd have to be removed from most other activities that some people think are too hard, cumbersome, drawn-out, or just plain boring. That would mean no more mastery points or ""extras" from raid, fractals, dungeons, pve, wvw, and pvp. Or, we could just embrace the fact that some will like some parts more than others, but that there's ample rewards for everyone for doing everything.
