There will be even more reason to make legendaries once the legendary armory is released and a single legendary item will be usable across all characters able to use that class of armor/weapon.

Depends how much they charge for that privilege. If it's anything like the so-called build template garbage... better get a mortgage. My guess is it'll be 800 gems per item slot per character; 18 potential slots per character, that's a lot of gems.Gotta milk that cow.

I have been figuring a per account slot feature like the shared inventory slots rather than per character . . . I would do account ones, albeit slowly. I'm not so sure I would buy them for each character. I have no problem with paying for the QoL although clearly there are plenty of people here that do, but I think on a per character basis would end up being too much. I have been figuring about 600/slot, but that is a totally uninformed guess with no basis other than my own analysis and assumptions.

  2. this topic comes up every now and then. I even had my own suggestions to throw in a few years back. I like the idea, I really do, but I expect that the developers are going to put their development time in future expansions, living world and Gem store and not looking back to core masteries no matter how interesting we might think they could be. Sorry.

  3. I also have this one and for me its primary use is to transport new characters to Crystal Oasis or as a free TP to that side of the world. I prefer the Mistlock Sanctuary placement of NPCs and stations for my crafting and other needs. Personally I would love to see a tome to put all these lounge scrolls into, it would make me more willing to invest in others if they weren't going to also take up additional shared inventory spaces.

  4. It’s easier to just copy and paste:

I like this with marauder trinkets & armor, berserkers weapons, pack runes and sigil of accuracy. If you need more durability then sigil of momentum, otherwise I like force.

Would it be +4 or +5 might, condi, etc. figuring out what to put in a legendary infusion would be hard. Maybe they could make it start out at +9 agony res and stat swappable at +5 ea, and if people want to upgrade it they can upgrade the agony resistance through the mystic toilet or something like that.Actually, it's quite simple. The best stat infusions have +5 to stat and 9 AR. The legendary gear is as good as the best non-legendary gear, but not better than it (the only difference lies in visuals and stat-switching ability), so that's exactly what the legendary infusions should have.

I agree with this as far as you take it, but there are also WvW infusions with bonus attack/defense against guards that would also have to be taken into account. Ideally they would have the +5 stat, +9 AR AND the +1 to attack & defense against guards.

Just like real life shooting (or certain tank games).I know how to lead a target, the problem is well outlined by @Blueberry.8095 in their post. Personally the hardest part I have is losing the white dot in the background, not the ability to lead the target or lack thereof. Hence my desire for proper crosshairs.

  7. I wish that instead of a small white dot that gets lost so easily that we could have the option for a red circle & crosshairs. I too have only hit 2 out of all the events I have tried to participate in. half the time I can't find the tiny dot, and yes I did the Grothmar event plenty and did just fine there. Not sure why the difference in difficulty but there absolutely is.

I'd quite like it if they did one for all those premium passes too, it'd actually encourage me to buy more of them as the only reason I don't now is that they'd just clutter my inventory. I know having them all is relatively pointless, but I'd be happy to buy more of them if they could all be in one tome.

A living world tome would make sense too, though I rarely use them anyway.I personally use them all the time, which is why I keep them in my shared inventory slots. But I also have 2 slots being used by premium zone scrolls. I would probably end up buying all of them if there were a tome to store them in.

  9. As with any & all ascended gear, the Caladbolg weapons can be transferred from character to character. I have 2 so far, and while I have not made them both into the same weapon to dual equip, that should not pose any problem, unlike the limitations on named trinkets. I have from time to time moved them from one character to another.

  10. @Mellow.5714 said:@Moira Shalaar.5620What trinkets/back item do you use in this build btw?Asking since he only hovered over one, do you get the others with the same stats as that one or...?I personally prefer to run marauder: Armor & Trinkets, with Berserker weapons. Add to that Pack runes for the armor and Force & Cruelty Sigils (imho Concentration is another good option for this build). That gives close to 100% critical chance with fury and surprisingly good durability because of the phantasms.

  11. I am looking at it differently. We are missing a specific kind of pet attack. There are no ranged dps (non conditions) pet attacks in the ferocious class. Devourer and Cave spiders are both ranged but condi attacks. I would just like to see either one of those changed or a new pet added to this class with a pure dps attack.

  12. @Infusion.7149 said:Only 3 classes can use mace: revenant (mainhand), guardian (mainhand), and warrior. Realistically only the guardian would be able to make use of a legendary mace (harrier/minstrel/etc), unless you run condi rev in WvW (so viper in PvE and trailblazer in WvW). It's even worse for rifle which is only used in power stat (engineer/warrior/deadeye).Anyway, I can't see the armory being more expensive per slot than shared inventory slots, that would be a disaster however you want to calculate it.

Templates make sense for armor+trinkets+back, but unless it's a legendary weapon used in different stat combinations then you're better off with ascended on other characters rather than a 2nd copy.

You are entirely correct, and I have edited my post to update my math to reflect your correction on the number of classes that can use mace.

I am not advocating buying multiple maces, I was using the mace as a lower (albeit not lowest) use weapon to demonstrate that even on the low end there is a lot of value in these new slots. Whether or not multiple legendary maces would be useful is a different question. It may end up being that players do a cost analysis per weapon, armor or accessory. For weapons they would only ever use on one character, probably not worth the price. But for something used across several, then that value rises dramatically with each additional character. In this way of measuring things accessory slots would have the highest value because they would be usable across 100% of a player's characters whereas legendary armor's usability is limited by the number of characters in a given weight class and each weapon is limited by how many characters & builds in an account might use that weapon.

I agree that the slots shouldn't cost more gems than shared inventory slots and am hoping for a bit lower price point than that, but of course the pricing is entirely out of my control.

  13. @"Geoff Fey.1035" said:ANet sounds like they're trying to reinvigorate the "hook" of Legendaries. By making them insanely more valuable by essentially "freeing" an entire weight class or weapon type from every having to hunt for an ascended piece of it again, it makes it very very valuable to dump all the time and effort into Legendary rather than "making do" with multiple ascended, in addition to freeing up bag space and being able to freely swap stats/runes.It sounds like you recognize the immense value that this update will make available to users.

@"Kami.8342" said:Because to make effective use of this you ALREADY have to buy additional Build Equipment Tabs and additional Skill Build Tabs.Remember, we are used to using ArcTemplates to be able to use 10-40 builds per character. Dealing with just 2 builds per character is too constraining. Why should I have to buy THREE different things to make use of my very expensive legendary gear? This is an entirely false premise. It uses bad logic. You ALREADY make use of your very expensive legendary gear. What the armory brings to the table is ADDITIONAL use of your very expensive legendary gear, and a crazy amount at that.

Lets put a price tag on that. Taking mace as a main hand weapon usable by the least number of classes, assuming a player has one of each class. As of this moment, buy orders are 1510.50G for a single legendary. Multiply that across 4 classes, and there is a total of 6042G expense to equip four characters. Again, at the moment of writing this, the cost of converting gold to gems makes a shared inventory slot at full price 258G. For the sake of argument I am going to assume that the new slots will have the same cost in gems. A player would be able to buy 5 legendary slots at that price for the cost of a single legendary mace. Conversely, buying a single slot at 258G is worth 3021G, the cost of three additional maces, which means that there is a net savings of 2765G after taking off the cost of the slot itself. Depending on the weapon/armor, the prices which will fluctuate, and the number of characters a player has, that value will change, but for the most part it will be better than that.

While you my have let ArcTemplates be a guide for your expectations, it was always a work around, one that was permitted by Anet, but it was created by a highly skilled fan, not the studio itself. Now we have the official version of templates and whether you like them or hate them they are the present state that we have available. Whether or not you believe that you have "lost" functionality, that does not entitle you to other related content (Legendary armory) at no additional charge. You are demanding that Anet produce something new, and in this case a new thing that no one ever even anticipated, and soak up all that development cost without passing any of that on to us as consumers of their product.
