  1. Let me remind you that now we have access to Portable Waystations for open world PvE maps. This is a QoL game changer. Everybody can buy EMP blast module. Allowing much smaller groups to succeed any cc check.
  2. Ps: Boon strip rending shade works nicely vs your reaper, core necro, daredevil and warrior.Don't think I'm that vulnerable when someone is trying to stick to me. built for sustain remember. It's a double edged sword. Opponent will get less reaction time to avoid DJ too.Daredevils don't have shadow meld. Toss a painter next to smokescreen/refuge/dp5 if you don't want to stand inside so they self reveal trying to stack stealth. Of course dual rifle is an opportunity cost. My benefit is that I can out stealth other DE, Daredevils, Scrappers, trapper runers. And that to me far outweighs my limited engagement options.
  3. Hope that wasn't intended to me %) If you answered yes you are getting steam rolled, then yes it was towards you. They are a good counter to necros but that's about it. Other competetive builds will generally kill them. They have way too many counters. That's partially why they aren't very good in spvp. They are better in wvw because they can run away... tho that doesn't really help in a fight, just escaping which still means they lose imo. If you are getting steamrolled (and assuming you are actually playing a competetive build), it probably means you need to learn how they work and need a deeper understanding of them and their many weaknesses. If you would like, i can help you with that, feel free to pm me here or in game. I also made a post about it too that you can read through. I replied yes, because I'm the DE main that does all those. I've yet to find someone that hard counters me on EU when I roam. You've already admitted on multiple occasions you had hard counters on your own DE playstyle, and why you switch to your necro at times.Don't take it as a slight, it isn't one. You are newer to DE. I main my rifle DE everywhere in GW2 since the POF demo week end. Adapted through every overhauls this specialization had been through. The big balance patch has made it even easier for my own DE. I also have a confession to make. The biggest lie I see tossed around by my fellow thief players for such a long time now is: " just dodge DJ".Yes it has a loud audio cue, a distinct visual cue and a considerable warning period to know it's incoming so you have time to dodge it.But what they don't tell you is that: A) you don't lose any malice for missing a DJ and B ) I have 3 dodges, and regen endurance way faster than my opponent can and have more means to get back into stealth to fire off DJs back to back until they connect and connect they will. Many bunker Weavers, Firebrands, Tempests and Scrappers have tried to outlast me. It just doesn't work. Eventually they fold down or have to run OCC or inside spawn or keep/tower. Maybe everyone is terrible on EU. :-p. Jk jk.I find good firebrands have tons of heals and so much mobility and CC (rangers too esp since longbow 2 tracks in stealth) they can constantly pressure me when I'm revealed. I have yet to beat one that is really good and knows what they are doing. Same with good Guardians that know when to use their blocks and other defensive skills and brought mobility. I also find i can't beat other thieves (who play correctly) because they have higher burst than me. I can usually beat necros and eles. I'm bad against mesmers but that's just cuz its me and not the build but am getting better at not targeting clones. Also some warriors i kill but some are spec'd to take down thieves with kitten tons of reveal and mobility and they will get me. I find some people are used to DEs and have figured out the weaknesses and exploit them relentlessly, allowing them to win. Also, how the hell do you have 3 dodges if playing DE. Clearly you are playing DD and not DE and you just gave yourself away. And i agree, D/p Daredevil builds need work in the opposite direction. Halve how long the field stays for Pistol 5 maybe. Also that weaponset will kill DE everytime if used well due to higher burst or higher condis (idk how much the nerf hit condi thief tho). I'll let you cogitate again and simmer until you find out how I can have 3 dodges as a rifle DE ^_^ it's also the key as to why I'll stand by saying it's still the best roamer for the past two years now. 2 rifles. Edit. With energy sigils on each. Yea but you aren't gaining an advantage when other people can do the same thing. That's not something that's intrinsic to thieves, just like consumables. If other builds don't utilize that, it's because they are (hopefully haha) using better options for their build and for what kind of build they are optimizing to fight against. PS, most DEs i have talked to in game don't bring 2 rifles, so you are speaking for a very very very small minority anyway in my experience. I'm talking about the common place DE. Though it would be interesting to see what the damage loss is using energy sigils instead of air/fire/force etc. This goes back to the rock paper scissor game that is pvp. Your build will be weak against certain builds and strong against others. It's all how you put it together. If you want to be strong against stealth builds (thief, mesmer, ranger) then you have to build yourself for that, and yes you will be weaker against other builds. If you make a build strong against warriors, Guardians, etc, you will be weak against potentially stealth builds and many niche builds. Similarly, if you make a builds that is strong against melee, you will typically be weaker against ranged. That's how the game works, tho it will come down to skill level too.No idea why you switched to PvP format now... I remind you that this thread's title is "DE issues in WvW".PvP doesn't have access to 50% energy sigil (25%), nor access to any food (40% endurance regen), nor access to rune of durability (dolyak if no core thief present, endurance if there is). But you'd be very surprised at how well the same build can handle 1v1. And by no means do I consider myself good or a veteran at PvP (only p1-p2, no? finisher). But all that is irrelevant because you'd be wasting valuable pts gaines or denied per time spent trying to win your 1v1 in ranked conquest. I'm only talking for myself, not other DEs. Truth be told the WvW DE maining population on EU servers is very tiny. Funnily most of the time what happens is someone tries in a group or solo to kill me, fail once or a few times, then swap to what they think easily hard counters a DE, and after that fail if they had a DE alt, will try to come back on it wanting to teach me a lesson. On EU, the occasional DEs I encounter or that try to jump me die ridiculously fast and pathetically. I don't feel bad for them one iota. I know they build themselves for your rock paper scissors mentality. Trying to be hard counters to certain specs with much faster speed than I can. But they get hard countered themselves too. It doesn't interest me one bit to play a build that fishes for one shot easy kills and that have to flee OOC against other builds n classes. My goal is to be the best solo roamer. I rather do 2-3k DPS sustained. Survive bursts, assess situation for a counter or egress, while having a good mobility to reach contested objectives or intercept.A roamer has to be ready to face the unknown; stealthed gank(ers), a squad over the corner. One thing I would like to be implemented that I don't think I've seen mentioned so far, is the creation of a new section of gizmoa novelties named WvW consumables with additional separate keybinding options. So that the traps and blueprints and candy corn gobbler and the other gobbler be listed in there for selection. So players would have a one key bind access to access on the fly. This would bypass the panic some players might have of opening their inventory bag to find the reveal traps/painters to toss. Would make it more seamless and promote active counter play.

  7. Yes to each.Where did you see that a DE was supposed to be an ambient creature to enhance your panorama while you play? It's WvW. Be glad that 99% of DEs out there are just doing pitiful Somali pirates harassment instead of proper hunter killer submarining.
  8. with full malice ( 5 not 7 ) makes DJ almost 2.0, its about 1.94+. long cast time? it has 1/2s on top of DE having quickness and it ends up as 0,33s cast time skill. EDIT on top of that rifle has better base weapon damage then others, example1047 GS1095 Rifle952 axeThis means rifle deals 15% more dmg then axe from weapon strength alone.4,5% more then GS.. etc etc its not just 2.0 coof that maters If you think that DJ only gives 0.5 reaction time to an enemy, you're sorely mistaken and I welcome you to play a DE in PvP or WvW. What you see on a tooltip on wiki isn't the real picture. No one takes BQoBK anymore. Everyone dodges/blocks/avoids the first DJ.Were you to even still use it, and even setup a [binding > mark > DJ 1malice] or even dare a [binding > mark > #2 > DJ at 3 malice] to ensure a burst opener on a knocked down opponent; at the current numbers; you ain't downing anyone and you'll be out of initiative real fast with no protection to save your ass. I honestly don't understand why you brought up gs or axe into this. Rifle may have higher weapon strength but it's #1 is horrific Both axe and GS have higher coefficient, higher dmg tooltips, and faster cast times hit animations than rifle 1. And not by small value differences... And honestly I'd be fine if they lower the damage numbers of DJ if it makes it 1/4 cast, no lazing no sound and ditch reveal. It can have 169 (0.4 coefficient) like AA#1 with just the malice buff for only bonus for all I care or even cursed bullet. It would allow a faster gameplay. Or keep the current DJ values and cast but give it unblockable again with the caveat counterplay that if the target evades, you lose all the malice and have to restack it from scratch.
  9. If you were a good DE roamer in WvW you will probably get to P1 P2 fine. Stronghold is the closest to WvW, but it's only in unranked. Ranked revolving around capture points gives DE an handicap. The way the point economy works is défavorable to you trying to linger in off point for 1v1 even if you know you could win it.Take too long and you waste pts, and mostl likely you'll get +1 by time you think you would win that 1v1 on far or home. I view ranked PvP as Player Vs Points and not classic PvP which would be in WvW. On the plus side it's balanced and enjoyable to watch others get nerfs, brought back in line. I'd go as far as even expect a shortening on the animation and cast time of Death's Judgement. DJ doesn't have a cc component. It's the only and main source of damage on DE. Anet had said the philosophy of hard hitting skills should revolve around 2.0 coefficient. Yes I know the malice buff per stack and that's why it never was at 2 but 1.65 Yet it got from 1.65 to 1.11. with big patch. It doesn't warrant having the long sound and laze effect anymore. Cut the kneel down to laze animation by half.
  10. The system that would fix this is already implemented in the game, it just needs a tweak and few boxes ticked: dishonor. Exponential increase of dishonor stacks from the first insult and onwards. Much harsher times that the afk on Q pops dishonor. See how much they really want the right to trash talk instead of play. You can't insult players in real sports. You'll get penalized. Why not here? Do not try to make me laugh even suggesting block lists. What? You see players wear earplugs to avoid hearing being treated of monkeys? No, nor should they do so. You penalize and remove the authors from the scene.
  11. Never seen a clone survive long enough to see M7 proc. And that's as a non zerk scholar DE (more like a brawler). Now back in DA Mug BQoBK days... that was a very valid tactic to vampire feed on them while mesm kited.
  12. Huh what? That skill doesn't exist anymore. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shadow_RetreatDid you mean rifle#4 death's retreat instead? Its ini cost was already increased on big patch so can't use it 3x in row in Trickery, can only use it twice. Thief core design philosophy on weapon skills don't have hard CD to them. The soft cd already in place is the ini cost and ini regen. And it puts death's retreat to 6s cd already in its current state.
  13. +1 to the first proposition -signed as a deadeye main
  14. Funny how staff mirages love to do just that: stealth, port , avoid, go OOC restart. That's with clones AND ambush with such slow auto attack staff skills that the bolt will track and hit a stealthed target. And you know what, that's fine. I got to adapt to that as a rifle only DE. And I'm one that never resets OOC when against one player purely on personal code. I know I shouldn't in this toxic environment, but it's my choice. And you know what? Enemy mesmers love to disengage as much as daredevils and sword thieves. Oh and before I forget, deadeye's only evade is dodging, roll for initiative and withdraw if they even use that last one.Rifle#4 Death's Retreat isn't an evade and never was. You still eat all the dmg while porting. And the DE porting effectiveness was nerfed since we can only use it twice now due to ini increase. Before you try pretend bewilderment as to why I keep talking about rifle deadeye here, it's because of your other feedback here so others can see: It’s one of the components why perma stealth shouldn’t exist. Knowing a thief is in a keep and you can do nothing about it is not something that should exist in a game and I think we can all agree to that. But I think the term „perma stealth“ also refers to the problem how much access thief has to stealth. Stealth on dodge?? Come on why is this even accepted? The Deadeye specialization has been through 3 overhauls by Anet since the beginning in trying to make it less clunky. And the current iteration of Silent Scope is the smoothest one. But it also killed off one beloved build: the DA BQoBK. Forcing them into SA M7. The current state of rifle Deadeye was a deliberate design choice to push the player into being cornered around stealth. rifle AA#1 too slow and low DMG to free up ini to use kite around with #43 ini was increased instead of lowering dmg4 ini was increased instead of lowering distance or add evadeSilent Scope 2s ->1s meant you could miss opportunity firing off DJ in real combat situations, reason why had to drop DA for SABQoBK quickness 4s -> 2s and the loss of DA meant you had to go M7 for lot less burst and more sustainSo what do you end up with? Damage output centered around DJ by building malice asap with #2 x3 to M7 to dump DJ. While loitering around in stealth because it's the only means of relocation and survival despite eating all the projectiles that still track and hit you. I still hope for a 4th overhaul of DE to get out of this lock but let's be honest here. Renegade is still awaiting its overhaul and Cantha expansion will get all the time & resources.
  15. yup got same Error messageBuild: 103632Error Code: 58:11:5:535
  16. If you want to to say: "no, fuck you!" to any ganking, you can also abuse of the templates feature. Set 4 keybinds: Bunker Gear & Bunker build, Burst Gear & Burst Build. You roam around going to your daily locations in bunker mode, able to survive any bursts out of the blue with the opportunity to evac alive OOC. And when you find your daily area undefended, you swap to burst, nuke it and swap back to Bunker mode while waiting on capture timer. An example of an over the top bunker spec would be like a deadeye in nomad (vitality toughness healing power) gear with rune of durability which procs protection and resistance when hit so it will nullify any stealth gankers that try to 1 shot you), sporting dual rifle with energy on both for triple dodge and stealth stacking in Acro/Shadow Arts. There's a known saying amongst thieves where you won't die unless you want to. This DE spec would take it to the summit. It would just be for mobility and evading any bad situations. You could take rune of speed instead for an easier time to get OOC too. Nomad gear would cover for the loss of durability proc.
  17. Your best bet if you want to show you come in peace and just want to observe: 1 Quaggan/Nuhoch tonic2 kite/balloon3 /waveThose are usually left alone even near big clashes. But they are also known or social cross server players. Yet the moment you show your intent in capturing/fighting an objective, you can expect to be BM'ed for using that ploy. My advice if you're just after your dailies, to be on a build that has high evac potential, one that can tank (like marauder/durability) and avoid initial bursts followed by fast egressing. Be it by access to stealth or teleports to get the fastest out of combat distance so you can mount up or tp.
  18. TaCo but with disabling famous markers paths and doing your own pathfinding, flagging, marking. Try it out, it's quite fun and not that hard to do. Gives a MS Windows Minesweeper vibe hehe
  19. That's the latency issues I empathize with you. When you just want to counterplay those situations, get some potions that you can consume on your heal skill slot. They act like stunbreaks and have no ICDs >:-]]
  20. Was 2/32 when finished the achievement. Then 3/36 yesterday. With today's reset, 5/42.The RNG aspect of it isn't easy on the nerves alright...
  21. I can feel your love for SAB so thanks for sharing your feedback. So it's with kind respect that I say the following. No I'll intent ^^ Potions also act like stunbreaks. Which can be invaluable in certain situations (go upstream in trib, recover from knockbacks Vs jumpy rocks). A prompt to using pots would void the options. Your issue with jumping trampolines and mushroom pads are due to latency desynchronizations between your client and the server. GW2 is particularly affected lately with wild lag spikes. It's why you can't rely on your momentum. Why sometimes they launch you or ignore you or don't launch you with momentum. Also why jumpy rocks of tribulation are so annoying and knock you before you trigger them or even after you think you're clear of them.Type /IP I your map instance and run a tracing and you'll see the sad current state.I wasted more than 20min the other night and around 30 death's in w2z2 tribulation at the furniture coin NPC with the glitches on those 3 trampolines on the thin wooden pillars due to lag. Your qalm about piranhas: basically they jump out of water to bite you and you knock hem out unconscious by hitting them so you can carry them to feed the octopus. But if you carry them too long (fixed duration) they regain consciousness so they slip out and fall to the ground where you can pick em up again. So what you can so is drop them preemptively to reset the duration. If you're in the air when it happens there's no ground under you for bundles to appear so they vanish. Which is beneficial when in Fractals of the mists with the Flux bomb instability that you can void by being in the air at the time it pops :) Oh btw the boomerang upgrade is invaluable on those tanky enemies. You get to stunlock ? ? Assassins and also Storm Wizard boss. It stuns both ways so attack boomerang attack boomerang, rince repeat until dead.
  22. Do we really advise Fuzdom.6493 to go into WvW so he witnesses things directly? With his mentality and lack of understanding, he's gonna come back with a dozen threads to nerf X and Y. ^_^ My dear Fuzdom.6493, like some others have said, read up on opportunity cost.Know why legendary items in GW2 aren't just acquired through real hard gameplay achievements grind? They are also part of an array of tools to balance the game economy by acting as big sinks. Mystic clovers are also sinks. And in PvE where there's an overabundance of drops, the need for bigger sinks. Make no mistake, your greed and cupidity wouldn't go unanswered, oh no no no, for the next day a legendary weapon for example wouldn't require 77 mystic clovers but 99 or 123. Catch our drift now?
