  1. I hear what you're saying, but support scrapper is currently meta. How are you going to top it (with a pure-support elite) without making that elite over powered? You probably can't, so it'll have to come with a nerf to scrapper, or a nerf to inventions and alchemy (because that's a lot of what makes a support scrapper good). The other half is the gyros. Will anyone give up Purge Gyro, Bulwark Gyro, and Stealth Gyro? Seriously, will they? They are amazing for support, especially when traited for range and superspeed, and accompanied by inventions and alchemy. Obviously this is WvW focused -- if we're talking raids I don't really give two-kittens because that's a small percentage of the player base and we shouldn't be balancing the game around raids (end rant).
  2. Scrapper is meta in WvW and superspeed is a very valuable contribution. Your original post needs a goal/problem statement, along with an executive summary (TLDR). Why you want to change it is buried in the wall of text, but honestly I don't agree with the position the it's half tank, half support. There's a reason Minstrel's armor is half tank -- and it's not because people are actually looking for a tank or off-tank. The reason is you can't provide support when you're dead. Another way to look at it, if ANET release a new 3-stat configuration which was healing power (primary), concentration (secondary), and (secondary), nobody would pick it over minstrels. I know this isn't a discussion about stats, I'm simply illustrating that support roles need to be tanky so the justification of "not pure support" isn't valid with regards to reworking superspeed. I rather enjoy the current play style, and there's some skill required as to when and how to apply superspeed to your party in WvW.
  3. Problem with a concept that replaces your skills, it has to be worth taking. Since so many elite specs are broken, this is a tough problem. Why hop in a healing golem suit when FB/Tempest does it better? Why hop in a DPS golem suit with necro/rev does it better? Why hop in a boon golem suit when xxx does it better? If the golem suits are actually better than the meta classes, even for a short period of time, they become OP (best case) , or they push other classes out of the meta (worst case). That's an extreme scenario that isn't likely imo. What is likely is that the golem suits are so ineffective that nobody uses them, and this engi elite is not welcome in any meta. Also consider that using skills well takes practice and many non-engineers will have no clue what to do when hopping in a golem suit. Same scenario with conjured weapons, siege golems, the old warrior banners, etc.. Even the Asura elite skill with massive c/d... nobody uses it, and I doubt anyone can recall a single skill from the skill bar (ref: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Summon_Power_Suit ).
  4. This is pretty accurate. I second "projectile hate" as there no >= 900 ranged options that avoid reflection. I hesitate at "support oriented spec" because right now support engi is in the meta with scrapper. It's almost op with its cleansing, utility (stab, super speed, stealth, barrier, etc.), and healing. I'm not sure how you'd top that with a support-oriented spec in such a way that the meta would change away from the current build. Some mentioned earlier a condi-based elite spec, possibly poison themed. That does sound interesting. I think poison is an under-utilized condition. It's just that condis are so easily countered right now in competitive game modes.
  5. The whole point of WvW is large amounts of players. This seems like a poor investigation because there are really two possible outcomes: Number of players didn't affect performance as expected, so leave current player caps aloneReducing player cap improved performance significantly so reduce player caps permanentlyI don't think anyone wants WvW with fewer players -- if anything we want more players. Maybe look at optimizing the data stream between server and client.
  6. The shield-4 skill is definitely broken. Spammable blast + knock back + protection with 4s c/d.
  7. The "throwing" part doesn't make sense :)The more deadly I believe due to the more efficient transfer of energy though a more solid medium.
  8. That's a good idea -- not sure why it didn't cross my mind. I try and use my land skills for underwater so I have a gyro loadout. Also grenades underwater doesn't make sense in RL, so pre-built assumptions lol.
  9. This thing is a turd. We have no other choices...I'm in Marauder's + Zerkers trinket, and this thing sucks for damage in for any content (PvE, WvW, whatever). I thought maybe it was a condi wep because the damage output is so bad, but it doesn't really function as a condi weapon... unless you consider 2 stacks of bleed every 12s, or one stack of burn every 15s a condi assult./end of rant
  10. You just raised the cap to 10 in the previous balance patch. It was limited to 5-targets prior (with another 5 coming from the area around the necro itself). Scourge was still a problem with the 5-target cap on the "big" shade so this is a very small step. It's really just fixing what you broke the other month.
  11. There's a trait that generates clone on dodge as well as utility skill that generates clones passively. Tempest has to wait for 5 seconds to get to use its mechanic which can be interrupted and puts whole attunement on cd - cant trait the waiting cooldown nor speed up the overload channel. Druid needs to heal allies to get access to its mechanic - no traits to make it easier to charge. Scrapper one requires downed people and it can still be interrupted with ease - no traits to make it more reliable. More classes need to have higher limits on their new mechanics. Sure chrono change sucks, but there's easy ways to get around it. idk what kind of tempest is that, but they have traits to stabilize and receive defensive bonus when overloadingThe stability trait (if you take it, because it's inferior to other traits) gives one stack of stab which is easily thwarted by even one opponent. There is no defensive bonus for overloading. There are boons that can be applied, such as protection when an aura is granted -- keep in mind no aura is granted until the end of the overload. idk what kind of experience you have with tempest, but it seems not much.
  12. One thing I like about riptide is it's affected by the 20% c/d reduction if you trait water -- that skill is always available by the time I rotate back to water attunement. The dual-skills don't seem to get any c/d reduction at all which kind of blows.
  13. It doesn't need to buff power builds -- some skills can benefit on approach over another. It makes choices more impactful.
  14. You might be better off with tempest, swapping earth or water for it. The fire overload creates a lot of burns (and might stacks if taking fire GM trait). Warhorn has a fire-field for burn, but I think focus would be better for the fire aura, including detonation of the aura.
  15. That's correlation -- not fact. The gap in development would be fact by consensus, but that is only a correlation to revenue gap. Quite a bit of money was coming in from server transfers (which is purely a WvW revenue source). I would wager that is a more likely reason for delays in alliance roll-out than anything else.
  16. I see Sw/D weavers roaming all the time in WvW.
  17. The materials aren't the issue, the daily grind for seeds is. Anyway, I wouldn't mind if ANet added individual ascended food as well. ;) Buy your seeds off the TP then. Are you saying that your current ascended gear was not a grind? This topic is really overblown... the subject is not even accurate.
  18. How can you see my titles? It's been a long time since GW1 -- the more helpful responses refreshed my memory :). It's on your screen shot. That is a fun spot though, and agree with others, hoping they allow access at some point in the future. At the same time spots like this are an awesome flavor to the world.Hah, I didn't even notice that in the screen. I used "ALT-PRTSCN" since that captures just the active window (and I have a multi-monitor setup). I'm guessing the ALT in that key-sequence made my character name/title visible. Normally my name/title is not visible (to me at least). Next time I'll just use PRTSCN without the ALT.

  20. I'd rather ANet removed the c/d penalty when using an overload. I feel the punishment is too severe to use a mechanic that defines the elite profession.

  22. My GW2 client has been crashing like crazy -- five times an hour at the worst. I've updated my graphics drivers, swapped out GPU hardware, performed a /repair of the GW2 install, used 32-bit and 64-bit clients, etc. Out of desperation, I examined the windows system logs and noticed that one RuntimeBroker instance happens to be failing at the same time GW2 is crashing. After a bit of research, it appears the the permissions for the runtime broker instance didn't allow my User access. I modified this one instance and I haven't had a GW2 crash since (although I've only played for a few hours). However I also ran CC cleaner and received the latest windows 10 feature update. All of these things coincide with the "no crashes in a few hours". I have eight RuntimeBroker.exe instances running after starting GW2, so I believe this was the cause. Anyone have any experience here that can elaborate on this?
