Bladesworn Armaments Should Be Gadgets

The Gates Assassin.9827

Recommended Posts

If this is done, we can have a rune that runs off of gadgets.

Combat Stimulant: Pretty much a gadget.

Flow Stabilizer: Gadget

Bulletproof Barrier: That's practically Engi skill at this point

Electric Fence: I mean come on.

Dragonspike Mine: It literally has the word mine in it. Engineers have a gadget called Throw Mine.

Tactical Reload is the only one that doesn't match the gadget feel. Rename it to match. Done.

In short: I want a gadget rune because I play engi and I'm a spoiled brat. Gadget builds are sub par and a rune might be fun.

Ngl, when I saw the skills and general theme, my first thought was "this could as well be a greatsword engineer spec".

Well, it's still pretty much holosmith adapted to warrior.

Warrior has always been supposed to be one of the more technological professions, although berserker and spellbreaker went in different directions, so this is just the one that emphasises that side of things.

where do you get this from? for me it was always the opposite way around... completely backwards. The least technological and magical of them all.

The least technological profession is ranger. By far.

This being said, I also don't see how warrior is supposed to be "more technological". The only thing that can be seen technolocal is that warrior has access to rifle in core... which really isn't alot.

still the concept of rangers relies on a bow and building traps while warrior is supposed to be pure physical brawless. SB was already off fitting but we can let one slide.. now we are both magical and technological in this brilliant idea /sarcasm

I don't see how a bow counts towards them being technological... bow and arrow as weapons are way older than, say, a sword. It is a very primitive weapon, so to speak. Definitely can't hold a candle over warrior having a rifle. Traps are also not as impressive in technology if you consider how long humanity is already crafting traps for hunting.

Anyway, I think anet just sees warrior as a blank canvas. Being a warrior is just so undefined... a warrior can literally be anything. And since Cantha is going to have a high technological standard, it seems they just thought it is fitting that their warriors adapted to it and are using technological weaponry now. It is the same for necromancer, they were never associated with alchemy and other stuff usually associated with engineer, yet they are going to get an alchemy based spec here.

They've got rifle when only four professions had access to firearms on core, and that's including mesmer offhand pistol. Now it's five professions.

I'd also observe that those fire arrow skills have to come from somewhere, and base warrior isn't supposed to have a lot of magic. Alchemical arrow heads is probably the simplest explanation short of individually lighting each arrow just before firing (hard to do when you're letting off a fan of three of them).

Guardian, revenant, necromancer, elementalist, and ranger all clearly use less tech (even) than warriors. Mesmer is arguable, but I'd say that the above is still ahead of a single offhand pistol that's pretty much a spellcasting focus. So out of core professions, warrior is probably third when it comes to adopting technology, after thief and engineer (although, admittedly, that's a significant gap).

Even without all that, warrior/engineer as an elite specialisation should be no less of a surprise than, say, guardian/ranger as an elite spec. But at the very least, warrior was probably the closest thing to being a tech profession without being explicitly a tech profession.
