Catalyst Quick change is actually good

I know that people who have 12 different accounts and 50 different chars to have the optimal dps for a specific 2 minute fight are going to not agree, so just butt out. But this change is good for Catalyst quick. Sure it's a dps loss but the ability to not pulse quick but instead grant it at full duration really helps upkeep on your team in fights where the stack breaks often. Access to fury with quickness is nice even though its forced, but whatever. The rotation without [Sphere Specialist] is still possible with 90% BD as long as you can upkeep ele empowerment (and most of your boon duration comes from actual concentration not %BD). I'm going to miss [Empowering Auras] but like I said I'm fine with this change. Having a top DPS provide 100% quick uptime before, you have to know that was too strong ... but something makes me think that Anet saying, "If you give quickness, you do 10% less damage" is just an admittance to them not having any idea how to actually separate boon roles from dps in their Catalyst. We already lost empowering auras so its really a 20% dps loss to grant quickness. Again, the average ele player suffers from inhuman elite players. I don't expect this to change anytime soon so, welcome back to a true Ele class. You will struggle to match other classes in dps but at least you'll have fun.

But u gotta understand it, no e spec is allowed to come close to QFB. Thats why they had to nerf quick cata to like 28k dps or less lmao. No one is allowed to come close to QFB. Not in utility and not in dps. Firebrand has to be top!

that's like seriously what it seems they are doing. Like they do these small incremental changes so nothing too op gets in the game but the issue is guardian/necro/engi are all kind of OP in regards to what they can bring and how easily they can provide it. Worst case Ontario for making the new changes strong is that those classes might become meta, but they don't want that. They want lesser options that won't compete as an illusion of more choices for these roles, but but it's not even that they are just worse, they are mechanically horrendous. I've grown bored of logging into this game with all my favorite classes getting nerfed, not just ignored, consistently for years without a good reason.

I agree about the fury/quickness change, it makes more sense. DPS has been killed a bit too much tho. I have the feeling that deploy jade spehere nerf played a big role too, together with the overall power nerf. I don't like the -10, it's really a bad design choice imo.

Anyway tried some bench, i'm not good at those, but i went from 29k pre patch to 18k. Ouch XD
You know, i'm even fine with that if also all the other alac/quick classes get dragged down into mud with cata! XDD

I do like the swap of quickness and fury, especially since that means you get all of quickness frontloaded instead of with pulses. Also really love the expanded radius with the perk too. That 10% damage nerf on top of taking damage out of the spheres is too much though.

yes, the problem is the 10% damage reduction, so obnoxious and is destroying build diversity. Open world builds suffered the most, other weapons damage and energy generation were already bad compared to hammer's, now it's simply not worthy to run quickness on these builds in PvE.  It feels like a lazy solution, tho it should be acknowledged that the quickness/fury swap was a step in the right direction.

And i'm loving the increased radius, made team fight cata much better in spvp.
