zeyeti.8347
I think there is too much work to be done to have good underwater combat First there are only 3 weapons underwater , who limits the gameplay and skills underwater , then a lot of skills , e-specs , etc , doesnt work underwater (mech with no mech ... no kalla summons for revenant , no pits for chrono , ...) and then you have skills that doesnt work like they should being now auto targeted and some aoe having a strange hitbox . Having only endgame content being the fractal underwater and ppl despite it (i personnaly rather do 2 times frac 100 no cm than 1 time underwater frac) that fractal made me hate dolphins. Yeah it suck that this gameplay has gone to waste. I mean the current build system could really facilitate and underwater version like we have with PvP. They just need to include better elite specialisation mechanics for underwater and add an underwater version to for each skill.
Dark Red Killian.3946
Underwater would be good if they could release underwater related masteries. One could give you land movement from the sea floor and allow regular weapon skills to be used. Another you could run or walk on water and use your land skills. Another could let you use your underwater weapons above water. They could also produce an uw mount which you could battle from.
artharon.9276
I love underwater content, but an expansion fully based on it, I'm not sure about that. I think it'd be cool to utilize over the water first. How about naval battles pvp or pve? Maybe cross map meta events requires you and your group to physically take a trip with a massive ship between two maps, I see myself enjoying it. I was sold to the pirate theme gw2 had when it was first launched, wouldn't mind going back to it. Please don't tell me to play that broken game Archeage, I can't be asked. Solvar.7953
I found a lot of issues with underwater play & combat right now. At minimum, Anet has to improve that experience. If they then really want to do underwater, a good first step would be to have it some part of a LWS chapter and see the reception. Releasing an expansion with a lot of underwater content would likely result in a lot of negative reaction and could really hurt the game (fewer than expected buy it, which means less is invested for future content, etc). It is even a pretty risky bet just for a LWS episode - sticking to tried & tested material is the safer thing to do.
Bladestrom.6425
Aside from skills which in itself would be uneconomical in terms of content opportunity cost, moving about underwater and trying to visualise projectile line of sight is a turgid experience. Its nice as a small variation but I think the vast majority would prefer overland not underwater. Zola.6197
I’d absolutely be down for an underwater expansion.
