I don't remember Anet saying this.  They could have, and I just don't remember it.  Regardless, maybe they meant that these types of things would not be required to progress in the game?  I mean, they're only needed for map completion and even then that's really only needed for GoE and legendary items weren't around at launch (IIRC).  /shrug

I very vaguely remember this being a thing before GW2 being even launched into alpha/beta. But during testing people got really lost on what to do and where to go, which is why they implemented heart quests into the game. Something along those lines.

Having to repeat the heart to get access to the vendor? No thanks. Get out of here.

Fun fact: the less number of total posts, the more negative and rude attitude towards the hearts.

I haven't said anything about vendor access being reset.

The only appeal I see to this is the fact that 'complete a renown heart' is sometimes the daily, and it would be nice to quickly knock out an easy and fast heart in Queensdale for the daily. Aside from that, no thanks.

Fun fact: my attitude towards repeating hearts is equally negative (if i want to do them again, i can always just make a new character, but repeating them on characters that have already done them - especially for vendor access - is annoying), so the "numbers" theory does not seem to check out as well as you think it does.

And as for vendor access being reset, that the default situation with repeatable hearts. You not saying anything about it was assuming that exact default situation.

I'm all for repeatable content. I'm all for not needing alts to repeat said content. (I also want repeatable personal story, just hard-lock the decisions made after the first playthrough like we see in PoF.)

I'm also 100% for "no need to repeat this content." If someone has done the heart before, they should be able to get the full benefits without having to do it again.

It's all part of letting players play their way. Some folks like the hearts, really! They should be able to quickly get in and replay that content if they desire. But I get it that not everyone does. They shouldn't ever feel "forced" to do them again if they don't want to.

I do remember them saying that while promoting the game beforehand and leveling didn't go as fast/smooth as it does now, so I distinctly remember having to look for things to do or I wouldn't be high enough level to go to the next area or story mission. So I made sure to do map completion on all maps from the start because of the xp. I wanted to progress the story and not just stay on a map for a while waiting for buggy events to happen.

Also because of the hearts after a few maps I already started to get bored because it's the same in every map. Kill mobs, fetch items, escort people etc. So I was thinking, yes, there is no quest log with quests that say kill x mobs and such, but they just repackaged them in hearts and events. Now I will say it's still better than those quests but I did feel like I was told something by a politician.

This is what I was thinking, too. Most of those hearts, you can finish in <1min, so I can see OP being delighted if they were repeatable for renown heart WV daily.

I think we can work with that.

If you do once heart the vendor is avaiable forever.

You can repeat the objective, either daily by default, or go to vendor to ask him "i want to help you once more".

Curiosity: What is exacly the point, why it is so profitable to repeat core tyria hearts?

Or in Silvester/Dry top add repeatable vendor heart, so if you need it for renown daily you can do meta there and get the heart in the process.

Some people just like doing things regardless of supposed profits. Why do some people RP?

Wouldn't say post count has anything to do with it, I'm not a fan of repeating hearts either.

I do the 'motivational' heart in thunderhead peaks. Very quick and little effort.
