Artisan of Arms - Elementalist's Pistol

I've killed like 20-30 things, but only have 4 kills. I suspect it's because what is kill things is the dots and not the pistol?

Guess I'll try some ambient creatures.

Enter urban Battleground Fractal and leave the tent to the right. Go up the barricade and shoot at the endless spawning Ascalon veterans approaching the gate area. each one dies with one shot. Probably the best spot for doing the achievements with ranged weapons , like the short bow, pistol and rifle.

Because if enemies die from condition you don't get the "kill" for the achievement.
Yeah it sucks, pistol has so low power damage and you can't "negate" the conditions.

 

Abmbient creatures (white name) count too. Like crows etc.

Thanks! Yeah, was hoping if they counted, maybe they'd die from the intial hit and register the counter before the dot.

Try pocket raptors in Auric Basin (west side). Should be easy on power builds.

I completed all nine professions with those.

I'm mad that they don't drop slabs of poultry like other dinos and raptors. Now you can be mad about it too. 😡

There are a lot of complaints about all the artisans of arms achievements because the kill only counts if the strike damage from that weapon does the killing blow. In other words you are screwed if

* you do 99% of the damage and another player dies the last 1%
* your pet finishes off the baddie

* condi damage kills it

* utility and/off hand/other weapon kills it

 Anet has acknowledged the issue

 

and plans to change the achievement so that credit is granted if you do any damage with the weapon. When that change will happen… ?

There's an update due on the 19th, it'll probably happen then.

For myself, I got enough of Artisan Arms for the astral acclaim on one of the power weapons, the rest will come if and when they come.
