willbender problem

I'm not hyped for this. between testing on the wvw golems with alac spearbender and the "good bug" on helios rush that's been hush-hushed so it's less likely to be fixed in that it does absurd damage to downed players, groups of downed players

It doesn't 'have' to do as much damage as GS or swords. with alac it's possible to have an exceedingly small downtime between illuminated symbols, about 5s of actual CD after its effect ends. and the 3+4 skills just happen to fit in perfectly with the free illumination provided by it.

Hate conversations from people who don’t like mobile classes or specializations. So many video games where there are mobile characters and immobile characters to pick and the people who willingly play an immobile character complain about players who actively play a character that blinks or dashes. You choose immobile classes, we choose mobility. If you choose to NOT play a character that dash’s or fly’s, that should NOT mean the rest of us should adhere to that style of gameplay. Simple as that. Stop overextending, stop being out of position and stop blaming the players who want todo both and go beyond! We very much enjoy mobility for kite and catch.

The point isn't exactly mobile classes vs non-mobile classes. It's a balancing thing.
Let's paint a picture for you.
Every class has a limited amount of points. Those points get distributed into the general skill categories.
- Mobility
- Burst
- Survivability
- Support
- etc
So if your class already has 10 points in mobility, it shouldn't have the same number of points in all the other categories because of the limit.
In the case of Willbender (the Thief class in general, Vindicator) you can fill all of the above mentioned categories.

Please, keep your mobility, but then we need to tone the burst down, take your invulnerability, condi cleanse or other stuff to bring you on par with other specs.

Willbender is undeniably an outlier that needs to be addressed. And, obviously, it is not the only outlier that exists. The question isn't why or how is Willbender overpowered, but why Anet hasn't nerfed them yet. 🤡

Necessary fixes:

  1. . Guardian greatsword 3 back to old radius (IT WAS ALREADY EASY TO LAND)
  2. Willbender F2 to 1 charge (Like in SPvP)
  3. Willbender F2 bugfixed to not ignore dazes
  4. Cele/Minstrel nerfed in WvW (Concentration 1%/15 -> 1%/30, Expertise 1%/15 -> 1%/21).

Cele doesn't have much to do with meta willbender, but a problem anyways. Just taking  2 dashes that provide condi clenase from full WB rotation should put the spec in a decent place.

It also took them nearly a decade to finally remove trapper runes stealth + super speed bonus, lol.

WvW(or PvP) shouldn't be taken seriously. The devs sure don't take it seriously.

Everything your saying is a player issue there are so many broken builds so you gonna nerf them do it.

Yes compared to all the cele builds running around willbender is the outlier because it's not cele and actually hurts it makes sense

It’s not like it’s either/or. Yes, cele is too strong and should be nerfed. Also yes, willbender overperforms significantly at lower levels of play, which makes roaming super frustrating for like 80% of the player base.

To everyone spreading whataboutism while people take aim at your precious willbender remember that above all the "but this class is also OP" and "but cele" that Willbender has received ONE (1) nerf since it's release in 2022. And they only received it in march of 2024 because they were biting the hand that feeds too much.

Deathless courage prior to march of 2024, gave you a few seconds of INVULNERABILITY. and what WB's were doing with this was sigil of rage -> F3 into enemy blob -> whirling light + Gs2 -> elite invul -> F3 and dash out. In a full power build this was all but guaranteed to down the squishy blob dps, possibly killing them too. The powers that be prefer blob content, this is not okay. So they gave WB a hard smack and said "stay in your lane" (roaming and ganking) by making DC only a -50% strike and condi damage taken.

Feel free to cry about people picking on you when your class gets nerfed hard and you actually have to make a build that doesnt get all of it's damage from having a single boon active.
