Condi Necro - Scourge or Reaper?

So I bought PoF about 2 days ago and spent my game time both doing the main mission and gathering hero points to build up the new Scourge specialist. Finished it last night, but I'm still not entirely sure what to think of it on my condition-based build. I'm definitely feeling the loss of not having "Rise!" in my kit for damage mitigation and aggro and the damage I put out still feels roughly the same, but I'm still not sure.

I know the expansion came out a few days ago, but I'm pretty sure most necro players here have a lot more experience with the new Scourge specialization than I do. Which of the two is better for condi necro builds and if it happens to be Scourge, what's the most optimal setup?

Scourge is much squishier, but also does more damage overall. You just have to remember to place shades.

I played through the entire PoF story without changing my build for the most part (just one utility skill) and there were definitely times when I wanted the survivability of Reaper. Not enough for me to swap, but I've definitely died a lot more on Scourge than I would have with Reaper.

I did the whole PoF questline as Scourge and found I was pretty tanky actually if I used Blood magic since transfusion heals you now as well and with Curses - Parasitic Contagion 10% condition damage self heal. I'm sure you could make a much tankier build without sacrificing to much damage.

Not sure where the complaint of survivability comes from. I throw myself into situations my FB gets creamed and walk out with full HP. F3 and F5 make a big barrier while hurting mobs and pretty much soaks the alpha salvo from them, Torch 4 is a nice chunk of damage. Parasitic Contagion is a constant trickle of HP considering our damage.

True, PC realy gives some good sustain on condition scourge, even though I would like it to be 20%, or at least 15% so scourge would be a little bit safer.

Play Condi Reaper if you want to use a spec with better survivability and solo-carry potential, and play Condi Scourge if you want slightly better DPS and better on-the-spot access to utility.

Depends on game mode. In spvp scourge does pumps huge aoe death zones, but gets easily killed if focused. Also spell breakers and deadeyes really mess up our day.Reaper can still be a very viable aoe condi bomber, less so then scrourge but tankier. In exchange however reaper can't handle being condi bombed as well as scourge does.

Long story short - if it's spvp regardless which one you take, make sure you got teammates to support you, and don't stay in enemy aoe. If you're by your lonesome power is a much better option.

Thats true, but its also true that we don't have the insta 2nd HP, which saves us a lot of the time from going down. Shroud has a lot larger LF then F5 barrier. Ansd its only 1 click away.

Wrong. With first benchmarks, Scourge is pretty much top of the condi DPS classes, second only to Firebrand which is really OP atm.

Doing 2-5% less dps than only 4 other classes is sucking? In a game with relatively very easy PVE compared to other top MMOs?

Sure.

And btw, Scourge even does more dps in fights were lifeforce is gained through deaths.

Hardly. And don't forget that the Golem will not take into account the double torment damage from movement. In a raid, let's say, you could have 3 shades placed in a triquetra-ish pattern and have the tank move the boss enough to trigger double torment damage but stays within the shade. Honestly I think with that factored in, Scourge might be top condi dps.

1k and 0.4k higher respectively. Realisticaly those are equal.
