Map Capacity.

All world bosses scale so you do not need a full map. Exceptions maybe Teq and TT due to their mechanics. I guess DS could be another too because of the mechanics of the towers.

Nothing stopping you from doing it on an overflow map though. Can't have hundreds of players at once, no game does that. Game mechanics also aren't able to be scaled up that high I'd assume.

Out of curiousity... which world boss was it you couldn't defeat? I can't remember having any world boss failed in a long time where I was on the map in time (that is not 5mins before the boss spawns).

Eventually the "main" map was already full and you were ported into another, less inhabitated instance?

It is more annoying being in a squad in dragons stand and finding out that at the meta start not only are you in a different map to your squad, but that map is full and you can't join them. ( and the map you find yourself in is empty as.)

Game is coming up on its seventh anniversary and we've always been able to dispatch world bosses without a full map. If you find yourself in an overflow map, start a group, put in an LFG announcement. There are only a few cases where it's tricky to succeed starting on the fly, even as late as five minutes before the scheduled start time.

1. As mentioned above, the game was released in August 2012, which is kinda more than 3.5 years. ;)
2. Why "can't" you do world bosses? Just check LFG and/or join the map in time, and you are good to go.
