Pls ANet, make Commander visible in chat

Recommended Posts

Just like you did with Mentor, but pls also add the symbol and its color to become:

Commander [Colored Symbol] Name : xyzor[Colored Symbol] Commander Name : xyz

It'd be a lot easier to locate them instead of always having to ask "where" - "at the xyz colored symbol", especially on PoF maps. The commander is a lot more expensive than griffon and usually the people who use it know what they do. They should be honored and visible at first sight in chat too. Currently it's easier to locate Mentors (and I use this option too to indicate where something happens) but Commanders should be treatet the same at least.

At least there should be "Commander" written before the name. Currently it's just the character name, like if there was no Commander tag at all. But the symbols are visible on the map. For me, reading the announcement, it'd be much easier to locate if I knew it was a Commander before asking "where" and getting the answer "the xyz colored symbol" - just like Mentor actually works. If there is an announcement by a Mentor, it's visible on the mini map and the map and, most important, in chat - so I know I have to scan the map for Mentor symbols to know where I should go, without the need to ask "where".

No, not always. And especially not in PoF where the next waypoint/poi could be pretty far, far away.

Lel. Stopped reading after that.

Anet did this When tags became account bound. But the word commander was far too long to be of any use.

Can imagine someone with Commander and then having a name at the max character limit. The chat would look like a mess.

It also could be abbreviated, e.g. CDR or the name could appear in the color of the symbol if cdr is activated.

(Heart is replaced by a coloured dorito of whicher tag the commander has

I agree, that would be ideal and helpful without adding a very long and unnecessary 'Commander' to names.

I also feel that a number should be added onto tags to help keep track when multiple of one color are active. One issue could be if there is [Purple1] and [Purple2] and then [Purple1] changes to red and becomes [Red1], would [Purple2] stay as [Purple2] or would they then become [Purple1] since they are the only purple in the zone? I think it would likely stay as [Purple2] to prevent confusion.Perhaps another way is for numbers to reflect order of being enabled and not related to color at all, so commanders are free to change color and will retain the number and more easily be tracked. But colored icons are quicker to recognize and track than a digit on a colored icon. Also, what if Commander 1 removes their tag, do all of the others then drop down a digit or will there just not be a Commander 1 until another person tags up?

I suppose they would need to brainstorm and try out different methods of implementation to find a good way of implementing it, if they were to even be interested in doing such a change.
