Why aren't waypoints free in the Mad King's Labyrinth?

Recommended Posts

Each trip cost 1 silver and 18 copper no matter how close or far you are to the waypoints.

If you are a new player and continually die. You will run out of money. Then you have to swap characters and sell stuff, wait for other characters to res you, or queue for PVP and let your corpse be pulled to the mists when the unranked/ranked match begins.

The only other alternative to letting your character be permanently stuck in the labyrinth is to wait until the Halloween Event is over and your body is forced into Tyria Proper, where there are free waypoints to revive you.

Rather than nerfing the difficulty of the monsters in the maze, and annoying everyone with exotic+ gear that knows how to dodge, just remove the cost on the waypoints.

Repair costs are already free. Let new players die endlessly to the Legendary horrors as a learning experience.

Edit:

Apparently there is an AFK timer for the maze. It is longer than 5 minutes and not a viable alternative.

Ellisande, the ;ad King's Labyrinth is not meant to be played as a solo instance. It's made for squads. As for the regular mobs, they are easy to kill even solo with any experienced lvl 80 character (experienced in terms of player experience with the instance).

I suggest you join as squad and get better acquainted with the Labyrinth. :)

It doesn't necessarily need a squad, a party of 5 can manage most things (including the Horror with some coordination). Or it can just be multiple random people doing their own things, but all on the same map at the same time and coming together for things like the Horror fight.

But yeah, however you do it the Labyrinth is not designed to be played solo. GW2 is a multiplayer game and most level 80 content will be designed for more than 1 person, whether that's an organised party or whoever happens to be around.

This would kill the economy.Think about how often you use WPs over the course of a day at an average of 2-3s per port, then think about all that liquid cash suddenly placed back into the players' wallets if you were to go extended periods of time without doing that. WPs are deceptively one of the largest gold sinks in the game.
