Scrapper PvP- Am I gimping myself by not using Elixir Gun?

Hoping you all can help.While going for my PvP Legendary Backpack, I've had a lot of fun playing scrapper.

Not being an engie main, I run the meta build on metabattle w/ Bulwark, Purge and Blast Gyro (instead of Elixir gun) w/sneak Gyro.I've found blast gyro to be really useful. It's great to knock people off downs, off ledges and generally cause mayhem.

Am I severely gimping myself by not using the Elixir Gun?Is it situational for matches?

I'm doing alright. 50/50 60/40.Most games are competitive.

Seems like a toss up between the two skills.Or I'm taking the easy way out, not using a all the combos Elixir Gun offers.

Elixir gun can be indisposable if you get really good using it, but if you find yourself in better situation with the other skill, use that until you really nail getting the usage out of elixir fun.

weakness spam can shut down power builds, its not just for condi clear. purges poison field can help but the high cd will usually see your weakness cleansed.

elixir gun can also be your only source to proc wep swap sigils so theres that to consider aswell

I have found myself using elixir gun to finish off fleeing enemies plus the renewing mist is pretty good for some extra healing

The other skills on engineer suck too much to drop egun for.

Blast gyro has been surprisingly helpful in a support capacity.It's often, that I'm playing with some pretty bad players.And I am running in to save them and turn the fight.Blast gyro with sneak works well for that as it interrupts the stomp and causes chaos.

It's also the only tool I have for decaping a point.

Maybe I am playing the build wrong.Or its better used for certain class Matchups

Having been on the receiving end of Blast Gyro scrappers, I wouldn't say that taking it over the Elixir Gun if that works for you. Elixir Gun offers a lot of good options, but as you'e noted yourself, good use of Blast Gyro can contribute to decapping a point.
