  1. It's the last line. MMOs (and gaming as a whole) are a mess of an industry, with MMO development especially suffering from things like feature creep and other issues that will delay a game to oblivion (Ashes of Creation when?? lol. NCsoft's T&L also took like 8 years to actually release from the time development actually started, after they supposedly scrapped prior projects multiple times, and then they had to change the combat prior to launch because everyone hated it in beta). NCsoft itself is also not a competent company, at least anymore. MXM was a spicy disaster of their own making, and big RIP to FUSER, let alone other games in the NCsoft graveyard. :x NCsoft not posting their individual game stats in Q4 (while also saying GW2 did well) is kind of a big tell that things are a little bit spicy there. I don't think T&L performed well, but we'll have to see what Q1 report in probably May says.
  2. I still want to know how your account of supposedly 7 years has significantly less AP than my alt accounts of <100 hours that I only do occasional WV dailies on. Continuing, though, you know the more things drop/more accessible they are, the less they're typically worth, right? At the time I made Twilight, the precursor Dusk sold for ~700g. It's now 300g. When I made Sunrise, Dawn was ~550g. It's now 135g. Neither has shown up in the WV legendary boxes yet, but gen1 precursors now are so much more accessible and appear more frequently than they did just a few years ago. They've tanked in price. I sold a Zap for 440g a few years ago; it sells for 60g now (thanks WV!). The Liquid Aurilium Infusion used to sell for >2k gold. It's now ~1.6k gold if you're lucky; I think it got below 1k not too long ago. It drops more frequently + isn't in a silly amulet anymore, so people aren't accidentally destroying it. Various other exotics used to sell for multiple gold and now sell for 40s on a good day. Most valuable drop I've gotten on my preorder headstart main account of thousands of hours is the 440g Zap a few years ago. Thousands upon thousands upon thousands of festival chests/bags/presents, most valuable drop I've gotten was Toy Shell for ~150g at the time. There are changes I'd like Anet to make (like a vendor where you can exchange map/strike/whatever currency for the infusion, like how you can with Everbloom and some other infusions, or even systems similar to how there are alternate ways to get the Frost Legion infusion), but a blanket massive droprate increase won't fix it if you're looking for money. Making your hyper-valuable items drop more frequently will only make them "lose value" if you're wanting those drops for money and not fashion/utility.
  3. That's part of what made initial-HoT suck for me. It was an amazing cinematic, and you step into a stunning zone that looks like disaster truly struck the Pact, and I was hella excited for HoT + story...and then you're hardcore gatekept from so much of the stuff going on in the zone + unable to continue story, especially with how garbage XP gain was from long, drawn out events that you couldn't leave because the participation timer was BRUTAL on events back then + how difficult it was to get MPs when you eventually did manage to get the XP needed. :( (Plus the roving packs of pocket raptors right at the beginning was ROUGH, lmao. Go right from initial WP? Pocket raptors. Left? Pocket raptors. Drop to the ground and barely survive? Pocket raptors. Ravine you need to get something in? How about 3 packs of pocket raptors in an enclosed space? 🙂Good luck and stay safe, Commander!)
  4. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/WvW_Reward_Track#Reward_track_modifiers The boosters + enrichment + guild buff needed to max out WvW reward track XP gain are listed here.
  5. odang, mystic coins for doing stuff I usually do? I'm in, let's gooo Plated weapon is kinda feels bad, tho.
  6. People (justifiably or not): I HATE CRAFTING AND I DON'T WANT TO LEVEL IT. Fair enough, here ya go, time to pay a tax to not do something you hate.
  7. I like HoT now; it's my favorite now, but I hated it at release. The jump in difficulty was extreme at the time, it took forever to level masteries, and to say it was like navigating a jungle is an understatement and sucked if you didn't have movement skills/masteries unlocked. I quit pretty early on because I couldn't do anything without immediately dying, event XP sucked, mastery point unlocks sucked, the story was "hard" and then had more mastery blocks keeping me from progressing, and navigating sucked. It was much more enjoyable after some nerfs that toned things down, XP gain is much easier/higher, and now mounts have made it great. I understand people loving modern HoT. Original HoT was...not quite as easily enjoyable.
  8. https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us Send a ticket there with screenshots/vid/etc. And, yeah, I think I've seen that guy, too.
  9. Mmm, yes, let's have stolen credit cards being used to buy expansion codes and reselling them to unsuspecting players, and then poor buyer's account is banned because the code was originally bought with stolen credit cards. Already have "grey market" sites that do that. Also, kitten no to OW PvP. Keep that where it belongs: in WvW. OW PvP is made up of trolls, gankers, and bullies who run away when anyone who could stomp their faces in shows up to stop them from making normal peoples' lives miserable. Definitely, DEFINITELY, a way to retain new players. *sagely nod* /s As to the very first part, man, I've played with so many new players, and most of what I've gotten is "WOW YOU LOOK SO COOL WHAT IS THAT HOW DO YOU GET IT" not "i will never be stronk like u i quit."
  10. Per the last quarter results NCsoft released (available online), NA/EU had a 15% qoq increase due to GW2. GW2 has been NCsoft's 2nd-3rd most raw incoming money MMO in general since at least EoD (it flip flops with L2 from quarter to quarter for 2nd place behind Lineage 1). Whether the game itself makes a profit after expenses? Who knows for sure. The CEO and co-CEO or whatever at NCsoft are in trouble because all the nepotism hires + overall bad/inconsistent business decisions that Anet would have to try hard to match (hi, fellow former/current Aion players!) + NCsoft obfuscated their individual game revenue for Q4 are making investors unhappy. Can't wait for the 1Q24 to be posted (I think in May). 😂
  11. All the hardcore arachnophobes who already can't do that path in that one fractal with the giant spider because of their extreme phobia would be forced to quit the game if players suddenly had giant spiders they could ride around on at any time. 🙃
  12. Reposting this, even though I know this thread is gonna get merged into the main GW3 thread: Business Post Korea’s article this evening includes a quote from NCsoft issued after the meeting; NCsoft says, “The Guild Wars 3 project is in the review stage and the start of development has not been finalized.” (Cheers, Wccftech!) ArenaNet itself gave a similar non-denial to MMORPG.com, saying, “”As an active game studio we are always doing internal exploratory work for possible future titles we’d want to create, however we have nothing to confirm right now. The team’s focus is on Guild Wars 2 development, including the game’s next expansion, which we’re excited to talk about soon.” https://massivelyop.com/2024/03/28/hostile-ncsoft-shareholder-meeting-reveals-arenanet-is-working-on-guild-wars-3/

  14. Not quite direct quote (I don't remember what the FOTM game was at the time): "Why are you playing 'Golf With Your Friends' rather than Helldivers? Your channel isn't gonna grow unless you're playing mainstream games." "Bruh, I'm playing with my friends atm, and we want to play Golf, thanks." 😑 People can be so freakin' weird when they're "just trying to helllllppppppppp~"
  15. Can confirm that neither the Frostgorge Sound nor Drizzlewood Claw of Jormag count for the weekly. 😂
  16. All the vertically challenged who have longed to be tall kings, this is your chance! Professor Smoll has just the elixir for you! Warning: side effects include "Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tube Man" syndrome and impaired driving of a roller beetle. Please drink responsibly.
  17. Just a note here: your forum account getting banned does not automatically ban your ingame account. Two separate systems there, with very different standards. I imagine if you admit to something particularly egregious on the forums that gets your account investigated by a GM or do something supremely out of pocket on a level that makes the GMs/Rubi go "👀bro u did not just post that," then that will get your ingame account banned, too, by the GMs, but a forum ban =/= an ingame ban. That said, "kitten around" at one's own risk; the "find out" part can be very unpleasant.
  18. I've been through multiple MMO closures, and at least two other live service game closures. I know live service games are finite by nature and that nothing I have or get is permanent, no matter how much money I could spend. They will all end one day, even if that is something sad to think about. I play MMOs fully knowing they could be shut down at any time, and I still have fun doing it. I don't view it as time wasted. I had fun, I made connections with people (some of whom I still talk to and it's been almost 20 years since I first met them), and I got to run around with my shinies for however long that was. If I had my adventures and enjoyed them, then that was nice. Guild Wars 1 is still open, and that came out in the 00s. GW2 isn't about to go maintenance mode any time soon, especially since it's carrying the NA/EU market and outperforming both Aion and Blade&Soul (and possibly T&L, but they didn't post the gaming breakdown with the games for Q4 that I could find), even with how heavily p2w monetized Aion/B&S are. I will enjoy my game while I have it. GW3, if it ever does come, is still years out in the future, and that's assuming it can survive NCsoft's gross incompetence. I'm not going to worry about it. I could get another bachelor's degree in the time it will take to optimistically have a pre-alpha product for GW3. Probably get a master's degree, even, too, before a proper alpha.
  19. That might be a personal issue then, mate. You're kneecapping yourself in a lot of ways by not leveling a craft to 400 (takes less than an hour with the fast guides), especially when it comes to ascended/legendary stuff.
  20. You need 400 crafting for the insignia/weapon version to stat swap. That's a max of ~30g to level if you do the Fast Guide from gw2crafts.
  21. If you consider Soon(tm) being 5+ years, based on the current development pace of modern MMOs, then, yes, it will be replaced Soon(tm), especially since NCsoft had to turn around and clarify that GW3 is in review, not active development. T&L just took NCsoft...10 years(?). Aion 2 has been rumored for gods know how long. MMOs, even mediocre ones in modern era, aren't made in 2 years.
  22. Good news for anyone who comes across this thread in the future: ^ got refunded when they asked support. :) Support tends to be really good about refunding things, so long as your mistake didn't "unlock" something on the account (example: crafting the wrong legendary armor piece). So, if you're someone like me who accidentally salvaged their ascended precursor WvW armor piece or deleted some stuff, reach out and see if they can help!
  23. It's funny in that GW2 does have design flaws (like every single game in existence), and the ones the dude posted aren't quite them. 😂 1 and 2 are basic MMO staples (I had to use 2 all the time in games like SWG because there was no info online at the time lmao), and 3 is a "flaw" found in far, far, FAR more than GW2. I think every "complex" game I've played, single player or not, has required me to look up guides/videos at some point. I remember finding .txt style guides for the Sailor Moon SNES RPG back in like 2000 because I got to the end of the game and realized I hadn't found all the puzzle pieces to get special accessories. 😭We used to have to buy guidebooks if you'd get stuck on some games! You kids have it so easy these days! *waves cane* Things that I'd personally consider are flaws in GW2 are: "Here's a server list but not well enumerated that it only matters for a specific mode and that the PvE/sPvP portion of the world is all a single server unlike most MMOs" + "this is how you join people on the same map; you don't need to transfer servers to play with your friends outside of specific gamemode," lack of good feedback on how you're performing without using things like arcDPS, the entire New Player Experience being kinda potato at explaining "basic" game mechanics (like break bar/CC), that you can't kill steal by just hitting something once (unless you one shot it, lol) and don't HAVE to group up most of the time to get loot/XP/credit.......Explaining that one has always been fun. Some other stuff, too, but the "Server list," performance feedback, and new player experience are the ones I see pop up the most. :(
