  1. I find that reaper necromancer is one of the easier PvE professions to play with, so if you have one everything in PvE will be a lot easier when playing with it. Warrior is probably one of the worser professions right now especially when using a ranged weapon so everything may seem harder.
  2. Weird, I find the necromancer unkillable in PvE. I can solo the champion branded mender group event in Dragonfall with my non-minion reaper necromancer.
  3. I am going to guess more of the Woodland Cascades since we have explored only a little bit of the area with Drizzlewood Coast, and personally I would like to see more of it. =)
  4. The system for closing maps is already automated. This means that there is some trigger condition, or conditions, to close a map. Information on how a meta progressing is stored at the server end. The question is therefore what would be an improved trigger or outcome? One option is to test how far through a meta is, with players being directed to a map where the meta is progressing but has not yet finished. An alternative would be to create a map where all players enter the same new map once a meta is complete. Maybe keep the old map open for the players already in there, but don't direct other players into it. This isn't mind-reading. This is programming a set of options into code. Yeah, I assume the system is currently sophisticated enough to tell how feasible meta completion on the current map is (maybe just simply based on the player population). If thresholds are used I think they could use some tweaking in some maps. I don't blame Anet for not being able to gauge accurately how many players are needed to complete metas. It's difficult to assess due to variations like player skill and numbers. This is where I think player feedback would be particularly useful. I think 30 players is enough to complete the meta in Dragonfall, especially if they know how to use spears and mechanics of the fight. On the other hand, I think there needs to be a lot of players to complete a full Drizzlewood Coast meta run because it takes very long (2 hours+ for a fast run) and the Claw of Jormag fight at the end is tough.
  5. I agree that the PvP and WvW can be fun to do sometimes. GW2 was my favourite MMORPG to play these modes in, but I no longer enjoy it much even in GW2. I think the whole MMORPG genre doesn't really fit well with PvP because things like balance issues are persistent and impactful. I mostly find my PvP fix in other types of games these days because I find them more fun. MMORPGs are mostly a PvE thing for me now. I guess Anet will focus on the areas of the game that attract the most revenue and players because it is in their business interest to do so.
  6. I don't mind repeatable hearts. Just don't lock vendors behind them when they've been completed once. Same. I like the idea of being able to do them repeatedly along with events so you don't get bored and there is always things to do. I think this idea would work fine if the vendors are permanently unlocked for the character once you have completed the heart one time.
  7. Congrats! A fully upgraded skyscale is very useful. I also like some of the skins the skyscale has. Now go out there and explore everything with much more ease. =)
  8. Yeah, I said "flawed" for lack of a better word, because the description that appears saying that there are few players left on the map isn't correct. It creates confusion in situations like the one I was in where there was a 50 man squad.I wonder what the threshold is for when a map instance is considered for closing? Maybe you and your squad were under it? /shrugThe thresholds may be a problem. 50 people is definitely enough to complete the meta fully since you can have 16 people dpsing each of the three bosses at the same time to kill them in time. So maybe the minimum number of players requirement is too low in the map instance. I often get placed in an empty map with a couple of players in Drizzlewood Coast unless using LFG. Assuming there are versions of Drizzlewood Coast map that are fairly active, the maximum number of players for a map instance in Drizzlewood Coast could also be too high relative to the difficulty of the meta.

  10. Volunteering doesn't actually mean your map is empty, rather it's no longer needed. It's the old overflow system, so when the map ahead of you empties, you're prompted to join it. Normally this would work as expected, but it breaks when everyone leaves at the same time. I see, thanks. Seems like the system is flawed in that it is susceptible to lots of people leaving at the same time. It seems to be a frequent problem in Dragonfall for some reason. I have even had it happen while I was in a squad with 50 people. The map thought there were not enough players in the current version even though there were players everywhere you looked. The message popped up for everyone in the squad and we were all confused. I have no idea how the system works because of this since it seems to happen also when there are more than enough players to complete the meta. I had that happen when there were about 20 of us on the map and actively participating. I thought I would change maps. I went from an actively working map to one that didn't even have all the bases captured.Yeah, I did this many times thinking that I would join a more active map. I guess a possibility could be that the people working on unlocking their skyscales decided to leave. (maybe because the meta was about to start so it wouldn't be a good time to do the fetch quests or story)
  11. If Arenanet can't even (or simply refuses to) make Rifle viable, I doubt they will give Warrior a viable ranged elite spec. You're probably right, but a guy can dream. It would be a nice to have a decent and viable ranged weapon for the warrior in PvE. I usually like to run with a combination of a close range weapon and long range weapon in PvE so I can adapt to situations and mechanics. This works fine for every other profession I played, but the warrior's ranged weapons are very lacklustre. I can't speak for warrior ranged weapons in WvW or PvP as I don't really play my warrior much in these. I'd love to do the same and I miss doing it so much, but every time I think it's safe to break out the rifle I always end up encountering a tough enemy with a break bar and regret not having my maces on backup.Hehe same. I like using the rifle and find it fun to use but for me it's too weak for harder content in PvE. I still keep my rifle in my inventory for when I just want to have fun doing some easier stuff.

  14. The rifle is pretty bad on the warrior and I find it worse than the longbow. But all of the ranged options for the warrior are quite bad.
  15. Yeah, you can also get some easy HPs from the early PoF maps too.
  16. I want this as well. We seem to keep getting destruction of the world stories like what seems to be happening with the Icebrood Saga and Jormag right now. I've experience enough of these with the dragons and Balthazar before. The following is just my opinion of course: Living world season 4 had the best story in this game imo, but they made interesting character like Joko and Aurene "inactive" too early. I would have liked to see more involvement of them in the story. I think Joko was an interesting character with his sneering, mocking attitude and had the potential to become a funny long-term rival. I hope we get to see another character kind of like him in the future. (or Joko himself if he can magically come back somehow =) )
  17. I have chosen to use left shift since it is easy to access and nothing else had seemed to be assigned to that key.
  18. I don't think it would be a good idea to make any of the current mounts better or worse in any way anymore since people have gotten used to them and their abilities. I think the underwater ability was chosen for the skimmer because Anet didn't want to create another mount and the skimmer is an easy to unlock mount that most people will have.
  19. I found there are only 4 mounts needed for the PoF onward maps. Raptor (to unlock the springer), springer (for vertical exploration), skimmer (to get through brandstorms and quicksand), and jackal (for sand portals/bridges). All of these are easy and quick to unlock imo.
  20. Want: Nice looking maps, maybe following the aesthetic style of core Tyria. I also would like them to be active with a variety of events to do and npcs to interact with like in core Tyria. Don't want: More long, boring grinds for things such as the skyscale and drizzlewood coast mastery points.
  21. Interesting idea. Maybe even a temporary access purchasable on the gem store for cheap so f2p players can get an idea of how useful the mounts are.
  22. I agree. I haven't seen another MMO change so greatly over time in terms of difficulty and open world. It kind of feels like GW2 has always lacked an identity that Anet felt confident to develop the game with.
  23. The problem comes at the end game.Once players without expansions have finished the story and stuff they often find it difficult to keep up with event chains and champ farms etc because of the large mobility difference between mounted and mountless players, the Warclaw being made available to unlock for the core game players would help to diminish this difference but not completely eliminate it.. that in itself can also serve as incentive for people to buy PoF as well to get the faster Raptor mount now that they've had a good taste of what mounts bring to the open world game, and the Warclaw itself also serves as incentive for people to try out WvW as well which is desperately in need of a population boost. The Warclaw will suffice for a while though and players can make do with it through pre PoF content so they won't feel as pressured to rush ahead and unlock the Raptor, potentially spoiling the story for themselves. It's all pros from what I can see and I really can't think of any reason why Anet should't make this change. Offering mounts to all players at low levels, before they can start PoF and unlock the raptor even if they own the expansion, is an entirely different consideration which I think has both pros and cons. The core game world is not designed for mounts and there's a good chance you'll miss a lot if you get into the habit of rushing through it as quickly as possible right from the start. Not just dynamic events that you won't have time to notice or material nodes and other useful things you won't see/stop for, but also basic lessons in how to navigate the world. I've already seen people getting totally stuck if they can't reach a place using mounts, even if the solution is 'that's because the PoI is inside the building, you have to dismount and walk through the door'. That type of thinking just doesn't come into it if you get into the habit of using mounts for everything, all the time. It might seem like it's making the game easier, but by going through it faster you can actually make a lot of things harder to complete. This is a good point. As a new player I would be confused by this from seeing players with mounts running around the core Tyria and HoT maps. When someone tells me the mounts were added in all areas in the game with a later expansion, I would wonder why the mounts are allowed to be used in the older areas if they weren't designed for mounts and can make some things trivial. Trust me, you never want to experience HoT Maguuma maps without mounts. It's awful. I will just re-iterate that I strongly feel F2P players should get a mount at some point because the game didn't feel complete Vs. other MMOs until i got one. F2P is basically an advertisement for buying the expansions and Anet should consider that. Yeah that's true for HoT. The navigation in some HoT maps is terrible imo. I am currently going through the HoT story on my rev. This time I have the skyscale and it makes things so much easier, especially in Tangled Depths.
  24. Yes, there is just one Jormag. They is often used in English to refer to people without distinguishing between genders (for example when you don't know what gender the person you are referring to may be). So as an example, I would say over the internet about someone who's gender I don't know, they like GW2, instead of he/she likes GW2. Ah okay I think I might understand. When I learned English, I was told "they" is always plural, and neutral singular was "it". But thank you for the explanation. Why not use "it" since Jormag is a dragon is also confusing to me. But thank you.Yeah "it" would probably have been a more clearer meaning option here.
