  1. That's how I am playing aswell (in open world PvE) and it works pretty well for me. I am pretty much unkillable and enemies die in all of the AoE damage. Been soloing stuff like HoT hero challenges without any problems.
  2. Before going into EoD I watched a couple of reviews mentioning that a major character will die in the story and I was sincerely hoping it was Taimi. I really cannot stand that character ... As for EoD overall, I think it is probably the worst expansion of them (I don't hate it though). The story is pretty solid and I really like the new maps except for New Kaineng, that one is just absolutely terrible. I hate traversing it even with Skyscale. I don't even want to imagine what it's like without Skyscale. And then everything looks so dead in that giant city, it's just weird. Also whats with the awkward placement of waypoints. All the EoD maps feel kind of empty though when it comes to events and other players. I'm not sure if it's because they are so big but something weird is going on here. The Jadebot also doesn't feel nearly as impactful as the glider and especially the mounts. In the old maps you get an enhanced rezz and a custom waypoint but both of these have so much cooldown that they barely matter, in the new maps you get temporary stat buffs/zip lining but the former is pretty neglible and the latter is kind of obsolete if you have Skyscale. The skiff is pretty cool but outside of fishing it's pretty useless since we have the Skimmer. And then there is the issue of the elite specs that are all over the place ...
  3. I am aware of how unpopular Untamed is. I basically never see a fellow Untamed player, the few Rangers I am seeing are mostly running SB. When I did my daily fractals today someone wrote "oooh untamed", that basically sums it up for me. "Unplayed" is definitely a fitting name for the spec. That said I want to add a voice of positivity into the mix. I actually really enjoy playing Untamed. The hammer actually became one of my favourite Ranger weapons. My personal highlights of Untamed: The pet unleashed skills are very strong and fun to use. You press the button and the skill activates immediately. Delightful! Playing the hammer is a ton of fun when you are fighting groups of enemies. Managing the weapon skill cooldowns to have your CC ready for break bar damage feels satisfying. The spec skills feel good to use. The heal skill actually allowed me to solo tank stuff for 3 seconds that would have normally killed me which can be useful in strikes and fractals. Most importantly: this feels like an enhanced version of core ranger to me. There is no point in playing Druid outside of instanced content plus the spec barely focuses on the pet to begin with. SB - while good - gets rid of the pet for the majority of your gameplay. Untamed finally focuses on the pet and the pet is what made me pick Ranger in 2012 to begin with. However, I do have some issues with the spec though: Condition builds are actually decent but it doesn't feel like Untamed adds anything to the build since you'll be using tools that Core Ranger has access to aswell. Might want to add some options for Condition builds that only Untamed has access to. Ambush skills feel incredibly hit or miss both in terms of visuals and damage/utility. Like the axe skill is very strong and visually pleasing while you probably won't even notice the longbow skill going off. These all need to be brough up the same standard as the axe skill. While I enjoy using the hammer, the skills look too samey. If I were to press a random number between 1 and 5 I wouldn't be able to tell which weapon skill went off. The GS is my favourite ranger weapon and part of that are the different weapon skill animations. The visuals of unleashing your pet are incredibly lackluster. I don't mind the green per se but it is barely noticable. I would have preferred it if the pet increased in size or something like that. The hammer being the only weapon that benefits from the spec outside of the ambush skills. I am not sure how to solve this without giving all of the other weapons a second moveset which would be unreasonable to expect. As it is right now you almost feel forced to play hammer to actually get the most out of the spec. I think improving the ambush skills would be a good start. The unleashing mechanic feels kind of hectic to use. You have to keep track of so many cooldowns and you are constantly pressing buttons. The spec feels just a bit too busy at times. Plus there is some much needed clarity for the readiness of your ambush skills. A small icon in your buffs bar doesn't cut it. My final issue that isn't really Untamed specific but is highlighted by Untamed: the responsivness of the pets. The disparity between unleashed skills and regular skills is ridiculous. It takes your pet forever to actually use their regular skills. These are just my two cents. I don't do WvW, sPvP or raids. I mostly play open world PvE and fractals, sometimes I do strikes. I am aware that the lack of party buffs and lower DPS make Untamed a bad fit for stuff like raids but for the content I am doing Untamed feels good, at least to me.
  4. I'm not opposed to difficult content, I have done stuff like savage raids in FF14, but I am not looking for that kind of experience when doing events in the overworld and I'm pretty sure the majority of the people doing overworld content doesn't look for that either. Nobody wins with this type of content. The more "hardcore" people will be annoyed by the "lesser skilled" people and the more "casual" people will be frustrated by the difficulty of the event. Add on top of that the lack of meaningful rewards for the time commitment - especially the lack of ANY rewards if you fail - and people will just abandon the event completely. In fact, I have already frequently seen people not even attempting the event anymore myself. The worst part though is the attitude ingame. I have been playing GW2 on and off since release and whenever I return to it I am impressed by the ingame community. This is by far the nicest and most helpful community I have ever seen. Yet it is not uncommon to see a lot of toxicity and insults during a failed DE event which makes me really sad. This shift in the community was not needed and I hope ANET is actively looking to solve that issue.
  5. I prefer PoF maps. The HoT maps all feel a bit samey (jungle) and navigation through the maps is a hassle though mounts help a bit. Meanwhile the PoF maps do follow the desert theme yet spice it up quite a bit. Every map in PoF is quite distinct from eachother
  6. I've attempted and cleared it yesterday for the first time with a group advertised as "no experience required". We beat it second try. I think the fight is actually not that hard and the only time you run the risk of dying is when you get caught by a teammate's chain. As was already said, the gold timer seems a bit too tight and the boss bugged out during the final 10 % or so.
  7. i'm curious, was there an apology letter written by Anet of the incident? This I think counts since they do apologise Thank you for your patience. Maintenance has concluded and you should be able to log in to GW2 on EU servers again. As part of the fix, we have restored all EU player accounts to their standing at roughly 2:40 AM PT on May 11. We're continuing to help players who are still missing items, or who made gem purchases or in-game transactions after that point. Please check your account carefully. If you find that you are still missing items or account progress, submit a ticket and Customer Support will help you as soon as possible. We apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this incident caused and are exploring ways to make up the downtime to our player community._ Thank You! for posting this. After reading the responses, i agree, that there should have never been any partial treatments in the compensation. The compensation should have treated everyone equally and fairly without having any exceptions. So Anet did one thing right by writing an apology letter to everyone yet failed to treat the results and its effect the same. in this case, i do not like partial treatments because in the end, like Toxicity, it affects everyone -i encourage Anet to rethink this and to compensate everyone the same- I disagree. I think players who had partial account wipes were rightfully the ones they chose to compensate and not players like me who risked nothing and stayed away - although to be honest I'm not really in favour of compensation in such matters that much anyway. Compensation is for genuine problems and this wasn't a major issue. If they felt they had to compensate, they went down the right road imo. However, my opinion is moot. I can safely say Anet will change their stance. The fact they haven't even merged things is usually a sign they are deep in the progress of thinking this over. Before all is said and done, I think those on the "disagree" side will get what they want and we can all just move on and like any forum drama, it'll be over and forgotten by next week. I only logged in for 5 seconds and still got the mount. Can you please explain the logic? :) They can’t check every account that was online individually and check how much was lost. So they decided to compensate every account that was online. ANet made it crystal clear what they want people to do if something happen again in several years : log in massively to the point of saturating the servers. It's also crystal clear that we will never get such a compensation again in the future considering the childish response of the community ;)
  8. In all seriousness, I didnt expect a reward/compensation/whatever, nor do i think i am entitled to get one.But giving one to everyone but those who did the right thing is a slap in the face and a really weird move. From what I'Ve seen, the people that claim they did "the right thing" by not playing in order to help the servers are also claiming they would have instantly logged in if they knew about a potential compensation. Raises the question how much goodwill there was to begin with or if people simply didn't want to (rightfully) deal with server issues. Also no, no matter how much you guys want to twist it, if you didn't log in and did something else during that time, you lost nothing. "But I could have played if it wasn't for the server issues". Could have, should have, would have ... the fact is you didn't play. Why should you be compensated for your "time loss", if you were busy playing Overwatch, League, or whatever other game during that time. That said, I do think giving out a mount skin is complete overkill for this short (the servers were offline pretty quickly) inconvenience and they shouldn't have done it. Plus I'm convinced the actual loss of progress/time is almost nonexistent. If people want to waste their time suiciding in LA, that's their problem. There's no need to reward this behaviour. I also think they should extend the SAB event for an additional day since EU players couldn't participate for an entire day.
  9. I personally think that they have hit the sweet spot with ascended gear. The stat gain is significant enough that it's worthwhile to obtain, yet not big enough to make exotic gear completely obsolete. If you don't consider the stat boost significant enough, simply stick to your exotic gear.
  10. I love when new players are toxic like this, and you cannot even help them. Just before the EU servers went down, I used the time a losing unranked match gave me to explain to a newbie why hugging the trebucet on kylo is a bad idea. He started out defensive and hostile, he ended up saying that he understands my points and won't do it again. Guess what, if he turned chat off and treated everyone as an unhelpful NPC, he'd still be going treb and wondering why his team always loses on that map.Want to learn PvP? Get rid of this attitude first. As with all things in life, the way you treat others makes or breaks an interaction. There's a huge difference between "ffs, get off the trebuchet you idiot" and "if you don't mind, the trebuchet is not that useful, you're better off playing on the ground". Most toxic people do not notice that difference and get even more mad when their "help" is falling on deaf ears. Now I am not saying friendly advice will get the job done everytime, some people do not like getting advice at all and will either ignore it or be super defensive. But in that case being aggressive doesnt help either apart from irritating the rest of your team and bringing the mood down.
  11. Adding my voice of disappointment. I lost everything I did over the weekend ...
  12. This thread is from 2017 and the Gazelle still behaves this way which is kind of sad. If this was a bug that resulted in an unintended dps increase, you can be sure this would have been fixed right away but alas ...
  13. This just sounds like even more grind except for not being optional like it currently is. No thanks
  14. I want more focus on the pet. I like Soulbeast. Getting a stat boost based on the pet type is fun. The stances are awesome and are my favourite ranger skills. That said I mostly still play core ranger outside of fractals and that's because I want to play side by side with my pet. The pet is the reason I chose the profession.
  15. Hands down. Put it into a shared inventory slot and this thing will greatly enhance the experience.
