  1. Yeah Longbow especially has a really good Unleashed skill for lowering it's cooldowns so it competes with Fervent Force. Longbow is one of those weapons you can create an entire build around much like Greatsword was for Soulbeast. In terms of Longbow Soulbeast vs Untamed, I would say Untamed is better since you can stay on Longbow forever.
  2. I will say though it does not play nice with Greatsword or Longbow which probably why Soulbeast mains don't like it.
  3. I have been having a tone of fun Soloing stuff like Bounties and other Champion Bosses with this build. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?POwEI6MsMB2BLhJyIxk26NeVxc3A-e Its crazy how tanky you become!!! The one real downside is the set-up time and mobility of the spirits. If you need to move a lot then it can be a pain to summon them again but once they are down you will have a hard time dying. In terms of Gear it doesn't really mater but I run Berserkers; Celestials would also work too.
  4. I gave up on that Forum, to many people live in the past when Mesmer dominated most gamemodes. That and Untamed is just hands down better in most content, all except End-Game Instanced Content which I still use Mesmer there
  5. If anything the discussion here about the Mechanist problem has highlighted a big unknown in Open World PvE. This is that DPS means nothing for OW Events, it is all about the utility you bring in your kit. A perfect example that comes to mind is playing Soulbeast vs Untamed. While Soulbeast has much better damage numbers the whole class lends itself to group content and not surviving. While Untamed is really powerful soloing and by extension not dying which excels in OW content. My point like @The Boz.2038 has pointed out is that Mechanist brings a lot more than just DPS and the fact it has such high benchmark is a problem.
  6. You definitely can but its sold to be versatile and not just a damage spec like some other elites so we should never see it above 35k. We should really see Holosmith have the 35k+ DPS spot.
  7. That's like half the Skills/Traits so I would say that is a win for me. Untamed was made for Fervent Force and when you play with a lack of stuns (Greatsword and Longbow) the other 2 Traits become very attractive. I think people are just salty because they cant pull Soulbeast numbers but at least you don't die to a breeze.
  8. Again I think the misconception is the unresponsiveness. You can see by personal messaging an AFKer and if they respond they cant be considered AFK, even if they are running into a wall in WvW.
  9. Quote from the wiki "This makes mechanists very versatile, letting them specialise into damage dealing, or support, providing boons and healing" seems like a Support DPS to me. They should not be doing nearly that much DPS if the slot in just damage traits and I guess the Devs agree.
  10. I think even standing still not in a City technically counts as AFK/Botting. The trick is you have to be responsive to Private Messages. The WvW thing can technically okay only if they respond to Devs when the message them, which sucks but is their ToS.
  11. Yes but it should not be the standard. If you can play something better (and its higher DPS) you should. I would okay with Low Intensity builds being the standard for Open World Events but definitely not for raids. LI Builds should be reserved for training runs so you can learn the mechanics.
  12. I think going forward the answer is YES. Core is a taste of what the Elite Specialization will be. In the past you could have said for example on Ranger, Druid is for Support, Soulbeast was for DPS, Core was for surviving(PvP). Now Untamed came along and is just a better Core Ranger at not dying.
  13. Why are you trying DPS with Druid. I don't know which game mode you are playing but switch weapons or Class if you are a role other than Support.
  14. Okay so play the support version. I thought that was the main selling point of Mechanist was to be a good Support DPS not to be Low Intensity Class. Why are you bringing a Low Intensity build into a raid?
  15. Lol since May i have now taken a much deeper look at Untamed and Fervent Force is a powerhouse. Its like an engine to get all your other skill back quicker. Its completely different to play than Soulbeast which has set-up rotations and amazing pay-offs. Rather Untamed is all about Weaving Stuns together with damage skills, this is alien to any Soulbeast Main. The result is something truly Powerful, my Frost Trap alone accounts for 60% of my power damage since I'm taking it off cooldown every 5 seconds. Not to mention the almost permanent Stability uptime and by using Perilous Gift you can tank almost any encounter. Throw on Spirits and you can take them off cooldown right away which mean massive group Alacrity. Not to mention the ability to group resurrect very often (120 cooldown means nothing with FF). Take "Guard" off-cooldown before the 6 seconds is up mean a stackable 33% damage reduction (with other Untamed players).
  16. I'm pretty sure they want the build left in the game, they just want to lower the high benchmarks. A portion of the LI players does use it due to getting more DPS than whatever they were using before (not hard to see).
  17. I have to agree with the Roaming element Druid is a beast. I have had a lot of fun scouting for my Zerg and just surviving/Immobilizing enemies until my Zerg arrives. In terms of the only clear nerf, I never really used Cultivated Synergy (seems like a sPvP trait). Primal Echoes was my trait of choice since the combo'ed really well with Shortbow; I could Root/Stun enemies then switch for a daze while chasing. I did a lot of counter pushes during Zerg clashes which worked so well if the Zergs moved to quickly through each other and didn't secure kills.
  18. Meh no mater what you say I will at least use the skill once before leaving Celestial Avatar. My druid is played with 100% bleed duration so you are somewhat right I'm not really playing Druid, rather I use all the inbuilt roots to immobilize people.
  19. Well as long as they don't over write it with there own they should be able to use finishers inside it. Before this you could not cover the Zerg in it, that and the cast time made it a useless skill. I personally used the water field to heal and then just left Celestial Avatar.
  20. More people in the Zerg can take advantage of it since the combo field is now large enough to cover them, 240 vs new 360. Honestly even now I don't even bother casting mostly due to cast time so that alone makes the lower duration worth it.
  21. You would play it for the Low Intensity of the build and the fact it is ranged + Pet.
  22. I mean this all depends on the game mode, for Fractals for example swapping a few utilities might be needed. I was mostly using this for Open World Content with low player counts and it does exceedingly well. The normal DPS Untamed like you have suggested has horrible survivability compared to this support version. I mean the reason I'm singing the praises of this build is because you cant die and can solo most of not all Open World content. I mean I was able to do Legendary bounties with a few Randoms just with this build. Another thing to add to this build suggestion is the Moa Pet since the AoE heal can top-up the Spirit of Nature health (not completely without some Healing Power for Regen)
  23. I guess wrong word, well I stop people running away.
