  1. i don't have any insight in anet but as a software dev for many years, having worked for a fair amount of companies i'm seeing patterns that i have seen before. time will tell but i wouldn't be overly optimistic. and it's not like any company would publicly say anything that damages its income until the very last moment.
  2. it seems that it's abandoned because it mostly is. apparently already during IBS anet was supposed to put gw2 into maintenance mode and be pulled off to another game by ncsoft. i assume that project failed so they got put to work on gw2 again while ncsoft figure out how to make more money with anet than gw2 does. from what is publicly known half the staff has been fired so they're running on half capacity and i don't think there is much investment coming in from ncsoft. it seems that they're also putting off-season events on automatic rotation which to me is a sign that probably a big chunk of devs at anet are working on automating whatever they can in the game. i predict after soto we will get one even smaller expac, maybe two if ncsoft can't figure out until then what to do with anet and then the game will join gw1 in maintenance mode town. so we probably have around 2-3 years of semi-active development on gw2 left. i wouldn't expect much from it. and since the server costs for gw2 are probably significantly higher than gw1 (which can probably be run on an abacus) it might even get shut down completely in a relatively short timeframe. and obviously they are not going to address any issues with the game. there isn't much time to milk the very last bit out of what is there. broken builds and 50k dps seem like something they actually want since it trivialises content and allowes even the mechanically impaired or the lazy or the unwilling to breeze through content and farm some instant gratification. after all those people are by far the largest demographic of gw2. and i wouldn't expect for fractals or anything actually to be fixed. not anytime soon, perhaps not ever. bugfixes are time consuming and don't generate income. you will have to get used to the fact that gw2 is in it's geriatric years now. things will break that can't be fixed or aren't worth fixing. actually, a good comparison would be guild wars beyond. those were pieces of content still developed until the end (which were never finished btw, they just abandoned the elona chapter of beyond) but with a lot of reused assets, some reskins and just in general a bunch of tying loose ends and some story tchotchkes to try to keep players tied to the franchise until gw2 release. soto is exactly that, so expect about just that. it seems to me some people are expecting some kind of renaissance for gw2 from soto but i'm fairly certain those people will be very sad in two or three years.
  3. because at some point this was supposed to bring over some popularity to pvp from the pve crowd. that obviously didn't work and now nobody cares about a dead and decomposing game mode anymore so why put any amount of work into it apart from tweaking some numbers twice a year to keep up appearances. since you still treat pvp like a real game mode you may not have realized yet: pvp is the dead hobo behind a dumpster of gw2. it's only still there because nobody wants to deal with removing it because it's so disgusting. lower half is fully of pipfarm bots, upper half full of cheaters and matchfixers. there are no good matches to be had, you're about 8 years too late for that. accept it and move on.
  4. tl:dr probably cool ideas, won't happen tho because nobody at anet cares or reads this forum. you may as well have written it down and burnt the paper. apart from that passive playstyle is what anet seems to want for popular classes since it makes winning by facerolling the keyboard easier and therefore caters to the biggest demographic in gw2: the mechanically impaired.
  5. well, they MADE them passive. they all had manually activated skills before.
  6. pvper with second child syndome spotted. sorry mate but the whole bunch of 21 pvp players don't make as much money as the tens (or perhaps even hundreds) of thousands of pve players even if they bought everything there is on the gemstore. also getting kitten on for ages before you figure out what those cracked supersayans are doing in order to oneshot you is not a great selling point for new players. ever thought about why anet doesn't even mention pvp any more when advertizing the game (not that they do that a lot)? "come and get carried through fighting huge kitten lizards or whatever" just sells more copies.
  7. i love this post. the complete incomprehensiveness and capslock serves as a perfect framework for the rage within. the name is mythical legend grade in itself. people might call this a "necro" but using an old thread to thematically contribute to instead of making a new one to me is peak communication efficiency. this person is a hero to me. he has all the kittens i'm too apathetic to give any more.
  8. crafting 11 illuminated boreal weapons isn't exactly "for free".
  9. imma let you in on a secret here. it was always been broken. we knew it was borked beyond belief because it's glicko2-mmr and we knew it's worse than we thought it was when the code for the algorithm got leaked through the api. now here's the thing: we had inklings but we didn't notice it that much when the player population in pvp was still big because it smoothed out a lot of the kitten the algorithm is doing. but now with exactly 8 players left in pvp we feel the full assault of the decomposing kitten that is the matchmaking in this game.
  10. since people are still reacting to this and annoying me with notifications: realizing you can use mounts in those instances enables you to reach those civilians way more than fast enough and makes this tread completely pointless.
  11. take your pick of any one-shot-spec like soulbeast, scrapper or berzerker and just train the combo on the golem until you get it down. alternative to that is to play core guardian support as you will be often matched with another core guardian on the other team that in a decent amount of cases doesn't play support which will give you a blowout win.
  12. i would go a step further, remove all rewards from pvp that are not immediately account bound. raw gold has to go, anything that can be converted into gold has to go. give titles and progression towards legendary/asc and that's it. also remove pvp tokens from pve legendaries and such.
  13. if the state of pvp is so fine and good, why are there only like 2 and a half players left?
  14. after about 30-40 seconds you usually know in which direction the blowout is gonna go. if it's in yours, the whole team should turn inactive immediately to end the match as fast as possible. since we don't have a concede-button like any proper pvp game would, this is the only option in order to stop prolonging matches that are clearly lost but may drag out for ages due to people who think they are the protagonist of humanity and will unlock their special superskill through the power of wishing very hard any moment now. so my answer is around half a minute. after around half a minute it's ok to go afk in order to try to minimize the misery. PS regarding the discussion about point deltas: i think the last time i experienced a match that wasn't won/lost with at least 250 points apart was 3 years ago.
  15. because men only get titties when they get fat. there's that thing called biology.
  16. it does not matter because stealth is not broken until hit. and the moment the hit occurs, you are already dead. the moment you can see, the fight is over. and please don't tell me to listen for sic'em when 6 other players in my direct vincitiny are clobbering each other with guns and explosions and stuff. on top of that, who is the soulbeast gonna oneshot? should i use up a dodgeroll or two just in case in order for the soulbeast to attack someone else? ps: i don't even think the soulbeast is the worst offender here, it can delete a single target. scrapper f.e. just deletes everything in a certain radius out of stealth. and even after 10 years i basically have no idea what any mesmer spec is doing because when they start pressing buttons it's like somebody threw a purple flashbang grenade into my face. the entire game is so insanely epileptic, having burst builds with access to stealth on top of that is like trying to extinguish a fire with a nuclear bomb in regards to new players. and that's what this is all about after all. i personally don't really care that much about it. i've been playing for a long time, i can adapt, i can play around, i can still win. and if push comes to shove i can just join them. the main problem here is the player population being so extremely low that proper matchmaking cannot occur. to solve this problem you would need new players to participate in pvp. and only an extreme masochist is gonna let themselves get oneshot over and over again in more than 10-15 matches without any indicator as to what they did wrong while being bombarded with effects already barely being able to discern what's going on before they say kitten it and quit the game mode forever in order to play pve. and that's how we arrive at the situation we're in right now, hence my recommendation to just not bother with pvp in this game if you are a new player. while this recommendation might be the worst for pvp, it's definitely the best for the player.
  17. is this another "mimimi, they took away my alt account gold farm" hidden behind a minor made up inconvenience thread?
  18. there are not enough players playing at any time to do that realistically without 30+ min queues. in order to do that you would need a bare minimum of visual input as to what is happening. as it is now, more often than not you are dead the moment the opponents comes out of stealth.
  19. what you did was ignore the post i reacted to. guess we're not both smarter than that.
  20. it's just another option. if you wanna do it, do it. if you don't, don't. that has nothing to do with what the quoted person said which was that now they don't want to do certain things without the carrot of dailies. don't try to take it out of context to turn it into an arugment for yourself, come on, we're both smarter than that.
  21. that's because holo has it's nice holo skillbar which definitely does more dps than hammer. but with mech you really want to trigger your weaponskill 3 for that extra dmg and stun.
  22. it's good dps by itself and triggers rocket punch. together probably the highest damage skill hammer mech has.
