  1. The challenge is fine except for people who 1. Rush through content 2. don't know how to build their own class 3. refuse to communicate and 4. refuse to do mechanics. Too many people expect others to break the bars- you can see this on the transition to the mini boss platforms where people were using portable charges instead of their own... because a LOT of people still have no idea what abilities remove breakbars and your developers have actually created classes and weapons with *zero* breakbar abilities leaving them zero incentive to do anything. The fight isn't the issue, it's the players and it's developer clarity for as the game has progressed. When you expect people to only learn how the game operates from a wiki page, this is what happens. So you're going to have a small dedicated few to try and encourage the rest but most of them will try to brute force. I mean.. people still fail on Octovine so...
  2. I would like to also point out that the leap replacing dodge feels... terrible. You're out of the fight for almost two seconds waiting to land and you have to hope you aren't landing in something bad. At least with the dodge replacement on Mirage you're actively still dodging and set up for axe 2/3. I get you put leap in the game to fulfil some childhood fantasy but there are other ways to incorporate the leap. Honestly it should be part of the actual kit for a CC breaker since you've given us 0 as a GS user.
  3. I'm unsure what the devs want for Vindicator. There are 2 legends slapped into one with a way to regen your energy but why would I switch to the awkward healing/maybe boon giving when my team needs damage? For the last two expansions you can build two legends that complement each other and allow for energy management and with this new one... what does it give I'm not already getting from the current builds? Honestly nothing. The damages aren't there and it's extremely clunky to play. If you're going to create a very complex game, the least you, gameplay developers can do is provide basic templates for what it is you're wanting for the players. Because either you have builds in mind or you're just making up neat sounding abilities and new animations for the heck of it.
  4. There can be a mix of chain metas and hearts, it's not like they are mutually exclusive. People still love running HoT for the metas! And... I love being Tarzan in HoT. I refuse to use a mount because it's just so much fun to run and jump everywhere.
  5. You know, this is probably why I'm not having as much fun with EoD. I gave PoF a shrug because it was a different location and the story sucked me in enough not to worry about it, but I definitely miss how much HoT felt like it all mattered. When I entered the first zone in Cantha I was like "Why do I care about bells and ghosts?" So ... I didn't participate and I still have no idea why I should care.
  6. Honestly I find this xpact to be very underwhelming. Everything is 1980's random Asian flavour architecture which I've already seen in other MMO's, so nothing sticks out as unique. HoT is still the most visually stunning and technical feat of MMO's, I don't think they can top it. Everything so far is very much.. Human stuff, bad guys, blah blah fill hearts, follow story, get things. Eh. I'm only interested in the strikes and raids; everything else is very much the same. Icebrood was far more engaging to me.
  7. Apparently Scrapper has to have floaty stupid thing by their face; as though there wasn't enough visual clutter in this game. It looks like a fly out of the corner of my eye and it's just obnoxious. Ah well, there are other professions to try.
  8. How do I remove this from floating near my head? It's a distraction and the sound is grating.
  9. Generally, no. Developers have access to metrics we can't always see. They usually have a table of characters/builds/etc in question along with a win rate. Most devs go the route of "nerf damage" without looking at utility. PvP in games does need damage, obviously, but most devs forget that utility is the hidden gem that shines; a bit of speed, a bit of extra damage (via power or condi) or off-healing does more to turn the tide than straight damage numbers. But straight damage is easier to program than nerfing someoene's swiftness or boon duration. Even though that's what they should look at more: durations of utility and utility itself. Doing 5k dps vs a 3k dps person won't matter if your 3k dps has a support that's peeling/buffing/helping. Edit: I'll give a real world example and we're going to use League of Legends because their metrics are available on a bunch of websites. You can see a table of win rates for every single champion. We'll look at ARAM which is entry level participation in League. Basically it's random champions that meet in the middle and duke it out. In the latest patch, 13.4 , they noticed a support character, Sona, was at a 60% win rate. They auto-assume it's her damage causing her to make high numbers. She has a 40% damage and healing nerf in aram and takes 40% more damage. But that's not why she's strong. She speeds up her allies, empowers their damage and has a short CD on an ultimate ability that stuns everyone in front of her. Instead of nerfing her damage they could give her a longer CD on her abilities and reduce the duration of her movement speed or damage bonus to bring her more in line with other champions. Another champion, Ashe, has a high win-rate. She's supposed to be a ranged damage character but the reason she's got a high win-rate is because her passive on attacks will slow anyone in front of her and there's an item that increases the damage done on any slow the charactes adds. So she can shoot out 7 arrows, slow whoever is in front, and tag them with a vulnerability. Her damage doesn't matter. They could disable the item instead but.. they nerfed her damage. Math only tells one part of the story but when people are on forums complaining "X is OP"!!! the devs look at numbers and if they don't see a really high win-rate they'll ignore you. It doesn't matter that your character of anger does something to turn the tide of battle; if enough people aren't using that character to boost a higher than 50% win-rate, they won't, or can't?, act on it.
  10. HOW DO YOU EXPECT PEOPLE TO READ THIS? Look, I get that your devs have zero accessibility teams and you forget colour blind and deaf people exist in the gamer world, but you DO know that black text on a grey background is a terrible idea even for normal visioned people? Please consider using GREEN, YELLOW or BLUE for highlights instead of RED in game while you're at it. Furthermore, please consider allowing us to tell you the SIZE of important text and WHERE it shows up for metas, raids, fractals, etc. Or, do what most modern games do and allow people to pick their "good" and "bad" circle indicators so we're not at the mercy of listening to people scream at us to get out of stuff. And allow for deaf people to promote their visual clarity for secret shite you have hidden within auditory mechanics that only hearing people can hear. Visual clarity is the one thing this game lacks above all else. That said- thank you for balancing your pvp.
  11. Hence my use of a US paypal balance because I have dual citizenship. Anet can use this aspect of Payapal (any business transaction can) but they've decided not to 😕
  12. I noticed Anet started using Paypal's banking services but I can no longer use my balance. Is there a reason for this? I've always had my gaming funds separated from my banking accounts due to security and fraud issues and I'd like to keep using my balance. Thanks.
  13. Oof the entitlement is real. Meanwhile other games make you pay for their bday gifts.
  14. I mean, I have, that's the nature of playing with an online game, the disconnects happen. But because the DC was consistent with the last part of the story chapters I *had thought* it might be a setting. If it's not then c'est le vi.
  15. There's some salt in your post although I can't figure out why. I don't have a problem with hiccups or downtime so long as I know about it and can adjust accordingly and it's nothing I can fix on my end.
  16. Every time I'm asked to enter an instance, I reach the end and then there's a disconnect and I have to start over. My internet is fine (fibre cables) and I'm not using that highlight skill that apparently disconnects people. Is there something I'm missing why it happens with all of the PoF instances? There's no save points, either.
  17. There's more than one "art" out there. I have 32 years experience in art and I find it lovely the way they scaled to make the world feel large and vast and take hours to walk across a zone.
  18. I'm an introvert that still asks the map for help and I've yet to see anyone turn me down and I've met some amazing people this way who are also introverts and we help each other out without expectation or demands. I'm honestly super thankful content in GW2 isn't soloable because it feels a lot more rewarding to group with others and knock out a big event.
  19. I am at 500 already. My question is more along the lines of what the steps are to start making ascended gear because the forge is confusing and I can't really see where all the necessary recipes are.
  20. Greetings, I have been wracking my brain attempting to understand parts of the crafting system. It's amazing and in-depth and I think I'm in over my head. I tried to follow the Wiki but the information is pretty dry and doesn't explain some of the finer points. As in- what are the steps for Ascended gear? What are the "gifts" at the Mystic Forge? Are there do's and don't's for being new to the system? I tried to look up some step by step guides but everything I've found so far was for veteran players who've been playing the game. I'm at 500 tailoring and Jewelcrafting on one character and 500 weapon and armoursmithing on another. I have 1 mastery point for Legendary Crafting in Masteries. I don't even know what it means. Where do I get the recipes? How do I manage my sigils and upgrades? Do I make the upgrades or are they purchased? If there's a step by step newbie guide that I've overlooked, feel free to post that, too. Thanks in advance!
  21. All of that from ESO is just bonus and in no way takes away from the game. 10% isn't a whole lot and they practically sneeze out xp scrolls and items everywhere. And honestly their player housing is like "Eh okay, I decorated now what?". It's not really used for much except the one dude who bought every crafting station and shoved it into one house and people go there for ease of use, but you don't even need that. ESO sub is nice for their chapters (DLC), but definitely not the cake considering 90% of the game is free. You can even purchase the DLC with earned gold in game, so... you don't have to pay real money for anything. I will say that their permanent purchase of unlocking cosmetic styles is by far the best investment and I wish GW2 had that option. I saw there are scrolls on the AH but I'd rather pay the 15 bucks in real money for an unlock of the basic styles: support the company and be able to adjust stuff on the fly. 25$ for the extra colour and hair options, too. I think the only thing ESO really has over GW2 is more mogging styles and tattoo/hair choices. But they can't compete with GW's animations or combat. ESO feels like a crappy console ARPG and I got bored very quickly. I am so glad that MMOs aren't clones of each other. After spending time shopping around for what game I wanted to invest in, I found GW2 offers everything I want: lovely graphics, I purchase what I want to support the company instead of being forced to pay a monthly fee for unsupported content, fantastic combat and the most impressive mount system I've ever seen.
  22. WoW has terrible options and their extra races are so boring you might as well ignore they exist. GW2 has some of the best options, especially for hairs. Their only downside is every female face looks like they're 20 😆 I'd pay for tattoo kits though or hair adornments.
  23. I haven't read about outside renders but that would be a terrible implementation for outside edits. Thankfully ANet hasn't appeared to be a fickle graphic designer so I doubt they do that considering how well guild halls were implemented. While housing is kinda neat and a good time sink for some MMO's, I've noticed for myself that after buying and decorating a home I'm like "eh" because... who's going to use it? GW2 isn't an RP hub and if you're in a guild you have a hall with decorations and guild halls are fairly large. I don't really see the logic with housing for this game, but I also think that people want something more to do. I'm personally looking forward to my own boats and fishing. By far one of the more fun things to do in other games is chill and fish... but in my own boat? Now that's awesome. And I can't wait to see what other two player mounts they design!
  24. Games with housing tend to have the worst lag ever and heavy database needs, especially for people who use a house as storage and leave the game. I like the guild halls (although it would be nice for us introverts to upgrade without needing other people. *cough*). If there was one player instanced house in each capitol it might work, but having dozens in the world is going to ask for a lot of database maintenance and other stuff that many people might not want to deal with.
