can you check if either the drop rate of charms and symbols is working as intended, or whether the amount used for the motes/aspects is working as expected? The different colors have hugely different frequencies in how many exist (and how many are available/how expensive they are on TP), yet 75 is needed of each for the mystic motes/aspects. Is that what was expected? It kind of seems like it was expected we would be able to make runes and sigils starting at a low level, and in reality due to the rarity of symbols and charms, this would be a poor use of resources.

When i thought it over I realized this is a lot like what's bothering me: The completionist part of me feels sad if I can't get the completionist chests. I get enough AA for the bigger practical items, the T6 trophies, and some other things. I don't buy the fashion with AA. I find a daily I'm not going to be able to reasonably finish I use that time to work on weekly. It's not like I'm not going to get 1g, 40 AA, etc in another way (though I'm never going to earn all the AA either, but it turns out others also don't). Just that I didn't finish the things to get the "yay you did the things" box. But there are actually other ways to get a "yay you did the things" reward too (different rewards for different things).

skipping the wow classes as I have not played wow, here are some gw2 classes that can use 2H weapons (or at least one of their 2h weapons) melee or partly melee (is melee what you're looking for? i had thought of paladin as a caster but in wow seems melee) revenant guardian ranger thief with daredevil or weaponsmaster (thwack with a staff, awesome) also warrior might be better with an elite spec. my warrior is like lvl 10 so I can't recommend one over the others.

Fair point that you can play regardless. There are raid training groups but you're not going to bump into them by accident. But if we're considering max farming efficiency, then a comped group is needed. trust me, I solo. Solo rewards, are... well they are there, you do get some rewards, but they are not by any stretch of the imagination efficient. When I join a group i get lots more rewards, even if the group is not very good (has to be a pretty bad group before I decide i can do better on my own, but that actually has happened). Because we can do things so much faster. And take much bigger objectives. And because I'm not that good at PvP. However if the group has a comped base group to help the newer ones (the way my guild runs), the rewards are even better. I'm told they're even better than that in the all-comp groups. WvW was apparently designed to play with an organized group. You can do it solo, and you can do it in an unorganized group, so by that measure it's more accessible to the general player than raids. But if you're trying to get somewhere in rank or rewards, you really do need the organized group. And for the organized comped group where you could fairly compare the reward results to raiding, yes, you have similar specific gear requirements as raiding. In order to be able to join that group. And you need to already have some experience specifically in grouping.

What I heard was "are you sure you want to delete your character" and we advise against for undisclosed reasons. which I interpreted the same as "are you sure you want to salvage some random stat yellow gear that your character can't even equip" , for undisclosed reasons

yea, at one point I deleted all of mine and remade them out of anxiety. And before that I deleted them because I was deleting so I could try something else. Most everything was good, but there are many things to try and I had just 2 character spots. But I should qualify for cake in approximately the same way as players who do have cake--I had a character I was playing the game with 10 or more years ago. The only difference between me and them is that I don't have that specific character, any more. I have different characters. Back in the day I didn't see deleting toons as a problem since nothing was unique to birthday gifts. But that has since changed and some of the gifts now are indeed unique. I feel like there could be a way to solve this, maybe one of these: recover an old toon--they have undeleted so much stuff for LWs1, maybe they learned how to undelete old toons while they were working on that presumably they have a way to verify account age, so just grant 1 toon your account age. Maybe write it into the programming so they don't have to do stuff on an ongoing basis. Keep track of both the character's actual birthday and their imputed birthday, but give gift on the basis of imputed birthday.

half the complaints I see on the forum (okay I exaggerate, but a good handful) could be resolved by what I suggested on Day 1: Add more choices to the Wizard Vault dailies and weeklies. Have for instance 12 options like we had before. Not necessarily all the same options as before, which specific options can be swapped out and changed and refreshed, but enough to choose so everyone can pick thinks they like or can do. Do whatever you need to do so AA doesn't, to Anet's reckoning, over-accumulate (grey out other tasks after reaching limit, have a bar like on a renowed heart quest that stops giving credit after filling--credit to another poster for this idea) but add more choices. I ask as a Reasonable Accommodation for disability (no that's not just for workplaces) I ask for the sake of Having Fun in a Game I ask for the sake of Getting Other Game Goals Done I ask because Everyone Wants This (okay I didn't ask everyone, literally, but I've seen a lot of people ask, in addition to me)

it is a lot harder to get anyone to join from LFG if you say you're watching cutscenes. And "newbie" run is different to different people. Some people think the reward is all that matters and getting it fast is best so they should rush ahead with their good gear and knowledge of the specific mechanics, and figure they're doing it right since they have "carried" the other players. Of course maybe the other players want to play and learn the content. Edit: I hadn't read the thread. This is not aimed at any person on the thread. 😎

because the beta is just a test? after the beta it'll go back to teams being server-based. Since the server doesn't matter during beta, it's unlikely anyone would switch due to the beta.

really depends. Comped gear is definitely a thing in WvW. Yea, you can run whatever you have with the group that's training or taking pugs, but otherwise, gear is not different to raiding as far as i can see as a non-raider reading the build libraries.

tl;dr exceprt. and yea that's right. if I thought I could finish in 6 months I wouldn't say it needs revision. But I hardly ever get to diamond chest, I think the only times i have was when there was an event giving extra wxp. Even when WvW was the only thing I played. But as it happens I like other content too. And I actually need the other content to get materials to make things for the WvW armor as well.

i really don't get all this talk about doing 1 thing to earn participation every tick. that doesn't sound fun to me at all, and I don't think that should factor into a discussion about people who chose WvW over other content. If all you need is Gift of Battle and you don't really like WvW, you might do that. But if you actually like playing WvW and chose it over other methods of gearing, i can't see why anyone would do that. You'll never get weeklies done that way either. On the other hand if you solo, you still might not get much done during a tick. Too busy trying to find an objective that hasn't been flipped while you were running there. But that's not a thing you do while watching a movie.

exactly. for me i feel like I'm waiting to have stat select gear so i can try stuff and figure out how to spec my characters. Like the game isn't finished at legendary, like it starts then instead.

I have the same thought process. If the dailies aren't what i prefer or if it's distracting me from other goals, I just skip the dailies. I didn't do that much when I had more choices for what I could do for a daily. and yea, these items have been nerfed (or nerfed again even).

got this error code today in PoF story instance. I got dc-ed, but my friend playing the instance with me did not. Happened again when we tried to replay the instance. It's pretty normal for me to DC with that error code but it's very annoying when it happens in a story instance that I then need to replay, or in WvW, etc. location NA. server NA.

Maybe a good reason to add more maps! More content, spread out the players. Still would have the issue can't get to the map my guild is tagging on, but wouldn't have the issue all maps have queue.

just a reminder, usually don't leave a map while in the middle of an event or event chain, because the new map will typically have a different progression, and you may lose rewards. Wait until the event or meta is over, then change. Unless you're struggling in the event or meta from not enough people.

On mine it has a button about doing that later: this changes the popup to a "door to leave instance" icon on the right side of the screen. I don't know of any way to change instance otherwise. In my memory, there used to be an icon like the levels of a city, and you could pick a different level, to change instance. But I don't seem to have anything like that anymore.
