  1. The number of times I have done this exact thing when I was getting mats for my Legendary armour. Had time to drop Ascended food (Healer food, but better than nothing for people that don't have any!) and give full explanations of what our lane had to do. Sometimes one of the lanes didn't have anyone on it. No tags and since there were no tags.. nobody went to it. That's fine. Usually one of the other lanes or mine, if we cleared in a hurry, would rush over and salvage things. And it all happened with little to no coordination. There are times people have said in map, "Could we get a CMDR to tag up for xxxx Lane?", and I'd flag up and dash over. A smaller share of the available players does not a failed run make. So long as you have ~15 on each lane, you'll be fine. And spoiler: Unless you haven't even tried to get onto the map and you decided to specifically stay out of even trying to get onto an overflow, you've got at least that. Don't need the full squads. Ogre will probably be the last to clear in those situations, because frell the egg-bashing, and everyone else can head on over and give them a hand as they get their own lanes finished.
  2. I don't know that the icons are cheap. They're shooting for a theme that is vaguely Japanese-Korean-Chinese-Thai, and.. I'd say they rather hit it on the head if that's what they're after. I can't say they're my favourite icons, but there again, my icons in the last expacs were a hammer and three circles, and I learned to accept them. Maybe I'm not the best judge. I've said it elsewhere, and I'll say it again, and even add a sprinkle of jam to it. What is the most "Canthan"-themed thing for Engineer that comes to mind?
  3. Some of us main Engineer, and some of us main it not because it tops charts, but because it has hella style and is genuinely fun to theorycraft and bend into doing anything you want the class to do. Don't got no Scourge to 'go back to', and Deadeye is a passing fancy just because I really enjoyed Smuggler/Agent from SWTOR.
  4. Yeah, it's far from his first time. Guy just had to deal with a dry throat and no humidity while talking for hours on end and having his throat compensate for the lack of humidity by forming as much phlegm as possible. Can't fault the chap for bodily functions. I don't think he's camera-shy, but I don't think he's entirely comfortable being in front of the camera. Someone that'll do the job if they have to do it and get through everything, but not do it with needless flair.. which he still managed to get me to laugh a good couple of times. A perfectly human host. Can't wait to see more of him for the next reveal!
  5. So long as GUNDAMs are part of Canthan culture, I don't really mind what all else is in the lore. And as long as Engineers get to pilot GUNDAMs for their Elite specs, sure. >:D.
  6. People complaining about their classes in the other class' forums always make me feel weird. It's like.. they don't have to deal with being booted from raid groups the second they join, or being harassed by everybody else in the group to switch characters. They don't have to do their best to perform mega-brain gymnastics to have a functional build - NOT OPTIMAL. Just. Functional. And there's certainly more than three options - we get two, at a push! AND - they don't need to play perfect keyboard piano across twenty different skills just to keep up with other class' auto-attacks. If ever there was a representation of the Engineer class -- this is IT. Personified! Don't get me wrong. I love this class, and I ain't ever going to switch away from it being my main. I adore the fact that it forces me to think and come up with actual engineering solutions to make things work. Are they elegant? Frell no. But by Jove, the car WILL be held together by the 2B pencil slotted into drilled-out hole in the chassis. Engineer is powerful in that we can do anything -- but we'll never get to, because. Someone else does it better. And easier. It just.. I dunno', it just feels odd, reading through other forums about people complaining that their class is weak - but tell them to try out Engineer and they'll say no way they're doing it because it's the most pointless class and it doesn't fit in anywhere. I tried to play a dungeon earlier, and I got booted from the group. Before we'd even started. The only comment I saw was, "lol eng gg", and then I was vote-kicked. Despite all of that, though, this is like the most chill forum of all the class forums! Just people asking for advice on how to make the class work or how aspects of it work.
  7. That is entirely valid, news rooms not having genuine 'scoops'! They haven't for a long time now, since news if mostly reported online the very instant that it's happening. Doesn't mean that presenters such as Philip DeFranco haven't moved into the space and done what news rooms need to learn to do - just present people with the facts, have ten seconds to give your own take, have a minute to hawk whatever you need to hawk, and bounce. A radio-related mentor from many moons ago told me, "Unless it's a talkback segment, nobody cares about us or what we have to say. Just deliver it clearly, say something to make them feel anything about what you just told them in ten words or less, and move on. Announce the music so they know what they're listening to and can go find it if they want to, and.. that's it. That's our job. Everything else is superfluous and has a time and place, but it isn't what people listen for." For the same reason I just can't listen to Morning/Afternoon Drive, I can't deal with how a lot of online presenters format themselves. It's the whole, "OMG guys, it's so good, geeze!", dragging out of everything. Radio stations do the same thing - ESPECIALLY for the Drive slots. The eternal teasing of some "Super Mega Prize YOU can win if you stay tuned in!", the non-stop banting back and forth with hosts that annoy you that THINK you're there for THEM, when you really just want music so you can zone out and commute to work, and maybe have the thought, "Huh, what song was that? Might look that up later." Mister Vegetable of Hard Material Man's content is usually good! I don't hate him. It's just that whenever there're game updates or the like, he falls into the trap of going on and on and on and on about this, that, and the other, and, "That sounds to me like...", or, "This seems like a wonderful change and it's amazing and fantastic and it's really needed and I think it will make a huge difference to the way..." What I'd like more is something along the lines of... "So, Engineer is having its Power Coefficient on its primary Rifle auto-attack buffed from 0.8 to 1.3. [Insert a whole list of other changes]. Seems like reasonable buffs that will help the struggling class to me - what do you all think? Let me know!", and then he moves on.
  8. Happy to offer it! I know, it is pretty hard to come up with things not already known, but.. that's. Kind of it. What's worth my time is learning something new - again, Mister Vegetable of Hard Material Man (Since we aren't calling out anybody specifically...) does do some other things - like highlighting new builds that he's found or the like. Those are interesting. They show the game from a different point of view that I wouldn't have otherwise considered, or help understand things just a little better. There's something new being added to my headspace. "OMG guys, it's so fantastic and amazing, like OMG, we are about to get right into the new information that just got released by Anet but before that... [Insert Sixty Seconds of Advertisement that I press "L" six times to skip anyway] so with that out of the way, let's get right into the new things that Anet has told us about the upcoming expansion back and how awesome and amazing it is and just OMG you guys it's so fantastic the changes that are coming and I think you're all going to enjoy this SO much OMGOMGOMG. When I tell you this, guys, you are going to flip out like enormously, it is just SO good and looks SO fun and OMG... [Keep on going for the twenty seconds of actual content that is stretched out to eleven minutes for the sake of AdSense™]" Admittedly, that isn't a.. verbatim script or anything, but tell me you haven't heard eerily similar from some presenters (I will call someone out, because they aren't a GW2-specific one - DID I JUST COPY YOUR SCRIPT, JUICEHEAD? I THINK I COPIED IT). I'm old. I don't have it in me to sit there like a zombie for ten minutes before anybody actually gets to the point - OR they get to the point and I completely miss it because I'm zoning-out their nonsense self-important spiel. Mind you - this is coming from someone that IS a brick and mortar radio presenter.
  9. Dante! ❤️ Always love seeing you in threads. There are usually LFG-squads that are filling up the maps for metas well in advance of the meta events themselves, and a lot of the people in said squads are bored and more than happy to roam about if someone needs help with something specific before the event. I will agree that depending on what shard you are defaulted to, the maps feel significantly more vacated of life, but it's on an individual level to go find a squad to join from LFG.. and if there isn't one, well. It is an online game. There are quiet times. On maps being deserted: False, see above. On there being a suddenly difficulty spike: Frell, yeah. Oh God, yes, and it really is not polite. I loathe and despise the HoT maps, and I ain't afraid to admit it. I will refuse to buy EoD if I see any more of the shenanigans that HoT tried to pull. "lol l2p". No. It's not enjoyable. It's not fun. I do not enjoy being funneled from trash-mob battle to trash-mob battle. I do not enjoy having to roam around what are essentially Final Fantasy-style corridors that have Metroid-esque "interaction points". I do not enjoy my agency and choice to flee being restricted, or sudden Mid-Tier mobs walking into an encounter every time I stop and fight in the name of continuing on my path. It's mentally exhausting, it drains and saps the will to keep playing, and until I had PoF mounts to go back (Which.. for whatever faults people may say about them, returned back the feeling of agency and choice in whether I fight, flee, or I mess up and get stuck fighting), I didn't touch the content anymore than I absolutely had to.
  10. I'm going to be honest. I only care about them when there's a release cycle happening and they potentially have information I haven't heard before. The second I tune into one and they say, "So OMG guys, here's what just came out yest--", I leave and don't come back. Maybe it's vicious. It's definitely mean. But my time's valuable, and I'm not spending it watching someone do something that I could otherwise be doing. A long time ago, I watched a few of a..-- uhh, a streamer made out of a very firm material that trees are, while being a vegetable --'s videos, and then I realised, "Wait.. Why am I listening to his opinion, when I could just read it and form my own? I don't need his opinion or ideas. I just want to know what the black and white details are." So.. I'll likely watch a couple in the lead-up to EoD, but I'm not going to be a raving fan or anything, and if they waste my time.. I'm off elsewhere. I'd rather be playing the game than listening to someone telling me about how they think I should be playing it.
  11. Dunno' about that illegality, Chief. It's a legal profession in China, and the Chinese government is in on it and forcing prisoners to farm gold for them. Australia (My own country) ain't much better, either. Our government has historically viewed games as being, "For kids", and that is a mentality that has knocked-on to any problems relating to games... To quote Wikipedia; So long as they get their cut in taxes, they don't give a flip. It's a silly game and nobody should be playing them over the age of twelve anyway! Japan has more or less told the game industry to self-regulate and they don't want to get involved. Aaaand Venezuela... Venezuela is a doozy. Because their economy is.. fluctuating too wildly, a lot of players use in-game currency to bargain for their own country's currency. That's wild, man. To put it bluntly: No. It isn't illegal. Not even by a longshot. If anything, it's far more recognised as legitimate. Wasn't too long ago that I think someone somewhere around the world brought up that in-game items and possessions ought to be looked at as actual assets, to be taxed or otherwise measured against. Edit: South Korea is the only place where it is flat-out illegal and carries with it a fine and gaol time.. but that is one pebble against an entire planet that doesn't care or sees it as a silly problem that doesn't need regulating (Which to be fair.. is likely for the best, because once governments get involved with things, it'd all become.. far less enjoyable and the industry would likely suffocate under all the legislative rules that would be in place).
  12. Like.. I see this a lot, but I've never felt it. I have always enjoyed Deadeye and it's frankly more fun to play than anything Engies have gotten so far, though I may be biased because it shares.. a lot of gameplay similarities with Smuggler/Agent from The Old Republic, and frell me, I loved me some good Smuggler/Agent cover-taking and unloading the DPS. Plus it has decent support and contributes buffs to the group!
  13. Yeah! Don't give unappreciative Thieves a greatsword, Devs. Let them have a one-handed option this time around. We, over in the Engineer forums, would be thrilled to have Greatsword! Or Staff! Or, hey, we'll settle for any kind of bow! Please, just not a one-handed option. We need two-handeds!
  14. 2? Less because of anything Anet has done, more because as I've gotten older and matured as a gamer, I've learned via hard knocks never to jump onto the hype train or really care much about any upcoming release. It will be disappointing and it will never be able to live up to the expectation. Far better to just.. have a very rousing, "Meh, that exists I suppose.", and then go into it and be pleasantly surprised by what it does get right.
  15. Engineer would like a word about our last two specs being wholly melee-focused and the likelihood of our next one being just as melee-based. That isn't how they think about anything.
  16. +1, this exactly. You need to make sure that you manually disengage Holoforge with F5 before going to a kit. Because we need more keyboard-piano lessons as Engineers!
  17. I don't know what the easiest class is, but I can tell you what it isn't: ENGINEER. Unless you enjoy learning to play 1234567890 piano and having the most complicated rotation in the entire game that can be matched by other class' auto-attacks, STAY AWAY FROM ENGIE!
  18. Accidentally, PURRR-LEEEEASE. I do it intentionally whenever I see a reflection affect. It's wonderful, giddy amounts of fun. I'm a mad scientist. I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE SCOREBOARD, I CARE ABOUT SCIIIIIENCE!
  19. See, I just love how he completely didn't say a thing about Med-Kit Engie. ;)
