  1. This is amazing! Thanks so much for informing us on what we can expect in the coming year!
  2. Good news. Any further details from the stream about it? we had some screenshots shown by the devs of the new ascended boreal weapons.they have a yellow glow and gold trim on certain parts. Also, they said the update would come on the 11th of february I meant the mechanics which is main interest. The rewards are irrelevant to me since the chance of a drop will likely be so remote I wont see one anywayno mechanics announced

  4. well it's confirmed by stream guys, drakkar is getting mechanical updates along with its ascended boreal weapon drop chances.Thank you arenanet <3
  5. Genuinely happy that they chose to tone down the amount of damage, buffing and so on, no more explosive combat, or at least less.I'll be going back to pvp once this update hits.
  6. "disable other player's back items"for the love of god yes yes yes!
  7. it's a bit grasping at straws but at this point, anything for dungeons would be awesome. It wouldn't be too bad tbh, would give you a reason to look around instead of just running superfast speedruns through dungeons.
  8. in the case of icebrood saga I really wouldn't mind if it ends up only being 2 more new maps, I'd rather have them work on already existing content, which is drying up to dust.Fractals, WvW, PvP, Raids, boring PvE maps and hell even dungeons feel more important to establish solid content, rather than tons of bits of breadcrumbs everywhere.
  9. Although it took them 2 living world episodes, bjora feels like a fairly well done map now, with plenty to do. and grothmar is always fun due to its great events. But the fact that it takes 2 episode to do this, and that the story is so tied to the map events rather than having their own experiences, for me feels like a really lackluster expansion experience. And yeah the vote, we want E specs :(
  10. also, this is not true for a lot of mobs, when you are surrounded by a ton of minions, whose majority of attacks are homing projectiles (in icebrood saga's case, it would be the svanir bowmen's basic attacks for example) you can't just avoid them. now if you are surrounded by a ton of them, this isn't lack of movement or game understanding, this is simply a ton of mobs attacking you at once with dashes, projectiles, AoE's and so on. there's no way you won't get hit, especially when a lot of these attacks proc movement slowing effects. It's outdated combst design, they're vanilla enemies afterall.
  11. where have i blamed the game for this? please actually read, I even said " which ofc ends up in me going down a couple of fights "not a single moment have I blamed the game for it.
  12. You're not alone in this. There are a ton of attacks that are insufferably powerful, and barely noticable or telegraphed. I think the new icebrood saga mobs are a big tell of this. I barely ever notice what is hitting me, or if an attack is coming from these mobs, so I'm practically not dodging anymore and just going hard on the dps rotations, which ofc ends up in me going down a couple of fights ;( I think the BEST example of enemy combat tells done well are the Heart of Thorn mordrem, they either have a really obvious ground indicator of what's coming, or very expressive animations combined with dialogue and sound effects. even the ones that don't have indicators can be predicted and played around once you recognize what their attacks sound like (the mordrem assassin is a great example of this, they teleport near you, then start jumping around throwing daggers while dodging, the sound they make gives them away, giving you a brief moment to dodge). Love these mobs, you actually learn their patterns and move your character accordingly. The icebrood saga moves on the other had... I have no freaking clue what is happening, I see a ton of projectiles, and a ton of animations that I'm not sure if theyre strong or weak. Sad that they decided to recycle enemies, they couldve at least given them interesting attacks.
  13. hold on, elite style icons??? I need to see this
  14. it's really really easy and tedious, but as said before, there's already another thread about this
  15. the drop rate is definitely no just doubled. Some chests are straight up giving 48 ices. Add the events to that, and In 1 day you can have 500 ices with little to no efforts.
  16. Main issues that I see: Too easyRepetitiveTakes too long.Lack of incentiveToo easy: adding more unpredictable attacks, more dangerous AoE's , and simply bumping up some damage numbers would already help a lot. Also, the 3 raven portal bosses are ridiculously easy, actually make them combat worthy. And lastly, add more mobs spawning during the fight just to add pressure to players. I think people were expecting something on the levels of triple trouble, supposedly, that's what was said in a stream, though I can't quote that.Drakkar is an excellent chance to make proper use of the masteries in some way, but unfortunately, these add no value other than having that free CC that makes the shield bubble part kind of pointless... Repetitive: I think the biggest slap in the face was when drakkar retreats after 20%, it was really cool to transition mid fight to a different part of the map, added a lot of cinematic value, BUT THEN, when you are in this new area, the mechanics stay exactly the same! I think that's where people start getting annoyed/bored at the repetitive nature of the boss (already seen AFK farmers). He needs some unique mechanics after this stage, or after each phase really (after each raven portal). Also, the shield bubble part, where he attacks from the center, why exactly do we get in the shield bubble? Everyone does it out of instinct, but when I walked out of the bubble during this, nothing really happened, feels almost unintentional. Takes too long: I wouldn't mind this were it not for the 2 problems stated above. But even then, I think the battle could take a tiny bit less, bump down the hp a bit (not much), and it wouldn't feel as grindy to people. An event that takes approx 30 minutes, should stay relevant throughout the 30 minutes, otherwise we get the same problem as the eastern meta of bjora marches. Lack of incentive: no worthy rewards. Though I saw the devs mentioning that drakkar would be updated to be able to drop ascended gear, which is fantastic! What makes me sad though, is that, unlike the other dragon wordboss achievements, drakkar's achievements do not reward a backpack. Give us a backpack arenanet ;-( With all that being said, the boss is visually stunning, music is beautiful, the area where you fight him is awesome, overal a real wholesome experience, held back by flaws that could be easily fixed.
  17. as it currently stands, drakkar is far too simple, I'm surprised he'd be ascended loot worthy. He really needs some upscaling on his damage, and throwing in more mobs always helps. The 3 raven portal bosses are far too weak as well.
  18. Player settings per character (tired of adjusting camera heights). the new UI settings are awesome, but it would be great if we could have different settings for each game mode. I love having less UI on PvE, but on WvW or PvP practically and the UI stuff is needed, having to change that every time we switch game modes gets tedious. also can we please have further visual effect reduction options? Every mob looks like a discoball with 50 players attacking it.
  19. Elementalist: ..no clue reallyNecromancer: Coffin. Like a big coffin where you summon mobs out of or something of that style. I can see a sarcophagus skin with this easily.Mesmer: Orb (one of those future readings orbs), fits the theme, could even be some elite specWarrior: Spear, just give us water weapons for out of water already, A-netGuardian: Flail. feels right at home with this class, heavy and slow.Revenant: couldn't come up with anything, but I like the claws idea mentioned above.Thief: Katana. very edgy, very fast, feels like a thief class to me.Ranger: Crossbow, some kind of flanking styled combat.engineer: a drill for some kind of mobile underground combat game.
  20. skyscale in particular is huge. But I'd rather have the option to turn other player's mount skins off (and their backpacks, infusions, etc). sparkly discoballs moving around the world really ruins the immersion at times.
  21. some other stuffwvw: just throw edge of the mist into the borderlands already. if not, at least make a new borderlands. It always bugged me so much that there are 2 alpine borderlands. novelty:to go back on reasons to play. Give us real stuff, mount skins, glider skins, etc, but not in the gemstore. Give us something that is really hard to obtain, and that, when people see it, they will recognize your achievements. Legendary weapons unfortunately do not do this, because you can just buy them in the TP, which i think is an awful decision. a more centralized focus: although strike missions are cool, I still think the devs shouldnt be doing so many new things that further split the playerbase. I would've been content with a high focus on pvp, wvw, raids and fractals. But they keep on attempting to do new innovative stuff, that ends up feeling as a half-attempt at making something interesting. When it comes to pve maps, I think them not making a new map every single episode as they have announced with icebrood saga is a really good idea. Hopefully they start doing that far more often, and with older maps as well. There already are enough level 80 maps. They just need to be fun.some good maps are grothmar valley, silverwastes & HoT maps. But when I look at lake doric, siren's landing domain of kourna, I wonder why these even exist lol.
  22. 1: Dungeons: very outdated and boring, and little incentive to play them. the only dungeon that feels modern and genuinely unique is the twilight arbor aetherpath, I think each dungeon should have a level 80 special path like twilight arbor does, it would give lvl 80 players interresting content. weapons/skills/core builds: elite specs are great, but they tend to overshadow most core builds. core weapons and skills getting some updates would do wonders. I think thief with its weird new traps is an excellent example of how to freshen up utility skills. I just wish they did that more often with the skills that are relly boring. Along with that, they could add new elite core skills to skill types (traps, shouts, etc) that do not have elites. Lastly, can we please just have water weapons on land? The skills can more or less remain the same, but getting 1~2 new weapons would freshen up the game so much, they can even make it a mastery for icebrood saga. challenge: heart of thorns was amazing on release, but ever since, there has barely been much challenging content that isnt raids. it mostly has to do with us getting powercreeped, but also with Anet just not making interesting engagements. I know the whole philosophy is making the game accessible, but I don't think the gameplay should have to suffer so much for it. now that A-net is making new maps, and they have confirmed that they will be working on the same maps in multiple episodes, they have a great opportunity to make these makes amazing by looking at the map's weak points, and improving on it. reasons to play: for a lot it might be getting a legendary, but I feel there should be more to the game than getting gear with swappable stats. Since gw2 has stat presets, that cap at ascended, you don't truly need legendary gear if you're satisfied with a single solid build. I don't know how to fix this though. Skins are always nice, but they seem very fixated on putting all the cool looking stuff in the gemstore. Can't we please have non-gemstore mount skins/glider skins/toys, etc?
  23. Pro's: The story is amazing and an absolute improvement to anything done beforehand.Large, beautiful maps with lack of waypoints truly bring out a feeling of exploration.bounties are a fun new addition that can be done with small or large groups.the new specs are great and most of them feel truly unique and class changing.mounts revolutionize the game's experience (not just in PoF, but in the entire game).plenty to collect/achieve after you're done with the main story.Cons: Still a ton of bugs.No new WvW or PvP experience (which HoT did bring)The scale of the maps makes them feel empty and desolate. Many events in maps are overlooked due to lack of rewards, and are shrouded by bounty hunts.Unless a dedicated achievement hunter or collector, there's no real reason to go back to the PoF maps after completion (except bounties, which can get stale after a while).Bad meta events. the fact that they are small is not the problem: bad rewards & uninteresting, recycled, upscaled mobs make it boring and not fun, feels like a genuine downgrade since HoT's unique bosses at the end of events.Empty areas that look amazing could have included far more interesting content, yet are completely unused.Balancing Issues, especially in PvPTo summarize:Yes: Good story, great elite specs, mounts rock, beautiful mapsNo: No new pvp/wvw content, bugs, bad use of map space, lackluster events, feeling of emptiness.
