  1. Seems even worse than maintenance. I logged in, and no matter what town or outpost I go to there is noone. I saw 1 other person on Embark :(Feels like sad to see it empty like this. One reason that I never really got to play GW Faction. Almost no people around. At this time: You need to play at specific times.Right up until GW2 launched there was (during evenings) a <2 min wait on aspenwood or jade. If you "never really got to play GW Faction." I guess you came VERY late to the party.Faction PvP is still in play but you have to, sort of, be a part of the community...

Where/when did you log in? ID1? Currently (as of right now) there is like 40-50 ppl in Kamadan AE2 (1 is full). Embark at about 50, Embark EE1 is some 20-30 ppl.I jumped to Henge of Denravi EE1 - only one other player there though. @OP: If all travelagents in Embark supported all playerknown locations that would be really nice. :) International district it seems.Yeah that (International) would probably seem dead. BTW: Main hub chat in GW is pretty active compared to GW2. The custom chatfilter (chatfilter.ini) was a really great QoL update - Gold/item-sellers are completely (and easily) avoidable now :)

  4. Please don't clump all veterans in as a single group. Believe it or not, "vets" have differing tastes. I for one am supportive of fishing Sorry. You are absolutely right. I should have written "SOME veterans" or (probably even better) "A FEW veterans" instead of "THE veterans".Thank you for clarifying/pointing this out. and some new players don't want it either. You can't separate and name and blame one group when the game has such a diversity of players. That being said there are numerous threads about fishing already.A bit confused... What is this? A derail-attemt? Feel offended all you want - I've seen the same'ish set of vets shooting down just about every thought that was not on their personal agenda. New un-wanting players? Haven't seen a single newcomer shooting down ideas here, feel free to enlighten me? As for "numerous threads about fishing": Lets forget the risk of being called out on "necroing" if replying in one of those - "Numerous" seems to indicate a continued interest on the matter, eh?

  6. I'm always mildly surprised by the responses to anyone asking something like "Can we have some kind of fishing in this game?"The veterans seem to shoot EVERYTHING down immediately because its (not to their, extremely specific, liking and therefore) extremely hard to implement or draws resources away from some imagined content that 2.4% of the games population enjoys.GW2 is an older game. Guess what: Doing whatever they have been doing for 8 years will NOT attract new players. Selling expac3 to 75-85% of the remaining pop may seem fine but how realistic do you think expac4 is then? IMO. GW2 desperately needs random/rare/exciting loot: Hey, random/stupid/simple fishing would work!As for: "But fishing is horribly/mind-numbingly simple/stupid!" - Yeah, follow your own advice from nn threads: Just don't do it!Some claim: "But fishing requires resources..." Sure. So did "adventures" - To be blunt: Who sells this game to their friends because of "Wooo - Adventures!"... Right! - Fishing would be like ONE minigame/adventure that friends could actually relate to...If all else fails: Grab resources from encapsulated content, enjoyed by a very small percentage of veteranplayers that pay most of their "gems" with ingame gold. (And please: Stop the "all Gems are sold for IRL currency" story: Gold/cash conversion never ran out of gems or gold: Anet actually have the ability to print pixels :-))
  7. I guess this was something Anet (you know, wayback-when-Anet) gave some thought but never got around to actually implement in a meaningful way: We all got a unique identifier: [Chosen displayname]+.d{4} amounting to something like "Halandir.3609" - I haven't seen other Halandir.[random 4 digits] though?Yet, we can't have free avatar-name choice within our (unique) accountname... Implementation, implementation ad infinitum. Guild Wars did a lot of rights. Precious few (including naming setup carried over to GW2) Choose a given name + a surname - add a bit of thought and there you go!Purge is NOT needed - But would open a massive can of drama-wurms,,,
  8. I still play and enjoy Guild Wars.A remake would definately hurt, if not straght kill, the small but nice community there. We recently had a little graphics update and some very nice QoL-additions. I know I am not the only one who went out and bought characterslots and storagepanes after that. Danikat said it really well: I doubt the current incarnation of Anet has the will or capacity to make a meaningful "remake" - I very much prefer they don't even try!
  9. It would have been interesting to see a GW2 mobile, but after playing BDO mobile I seriously doubt Anet would have had the resources to pull off something in the same league. In that light NCSoft might very well have made the right decision. To those of you who think "Cartoon Farming v72.23" and "Match a line of colors/fruits/shapes" is the pinnacle of mobile gaming: Please educate yourselves - Fortnite mobile is pretty successful and far from the "usual" mobile clickergames. BDO mobile is next level advanced. The paradox is that once mobile games get as advanced as BDO Mobile they lose a part of the audience that carries mobile gaming: The game needs fairly recent hardware to shine - Complexity: The learning curve is simply to steep for people that prefer traditional mobile puzzlers. There's still an audience though: BDO M is AFAIK the first real mobile 3D MMORPG. 4mill people signing up in the west before launch = Not bad.The horrible P2E practices that were born in mobile gaming is going to be omnipresent in BDO Mobile, but it's free to play until you get annoyed! In the end:A lot of GW2 players will get to familiarize themselves with BDO lore and mechanics because a technical masterpiece is free on mobile platforms. (Insert desktopversion ad here)Not a single BDO player will ever experience GW2 lore/gameplay on their mobile device. Too bad maybe, but in the end I still think canning the (if it ever was a) mobile project was the right decision.
  10. Unless I am missing something obvious... Only Moradorin and an image in the OP mentions (part of) their measured resolution. Not really sure what "the exact opposite" of "Full Screen 1024x768" is.The measurements seems to be missing some parameters.
  11. Yeah what about us? I got HoT and left some 2 months after its release. I never bought PoF because I saw no future in Anet's overall fuzzy-logic (too much left: Turn right - too much rigtht, Turn left) choice of "direction". If they gave me PoF today it wouldn't change a thing for me: I would not return, I wouldn't buy tons of gems. It would probably annoy many of the GW2 loyalists though.Unwanted gifts is on most accounts a stupid move. Otoh: Giving HoT to fans that like PoF may make a lot of sense. PS: Yeah I am revisiting, lurking the forums, for that 0.001% chance of a GW3 announcement was happening.
  12. EDIT: This section of the forums is titled "Guild Wars 2 Discussion" so that's why I question the creation of this thread in the first place if it is only to praise the original Guild Wars. Sure, but try this: There is NO "officially Anet-endorsed Guild Wars-Only" forum/response channel. GW2 would not exist without "Guild Wars" being a "thing" - Most Guild Wars fans have a lot of respect for Anet: This is their only official "Forum" - Fans might drop by and (since there is no general "Anet games" forum) this is the closest thing to a catch-all. (And Yes -We can/do still buy storage expansions/outfits etc from Anet) Guild Wars players are (imo) still quite big fans of Anet no matter how GW2 was/might have been a disappointment on a personal level. But hey: Lets follow your enlightened path of wisdom: Shun the GW'ers - Let them spew GW2 hate and whatever where ever they go instead... Sorry: Thats a no win!Heh - Naah, I have bought 2 GW2 accounts, 1 (mostly unused) HoT account and 3 full (all campaigns and expansions) GW accounts: Hate it as you will - I'll stick around. And no... GW2 is NOT what I hoped for. But that is Anets choice of direction. Me (or other Guild Wars players) are not here to argue with that. Nor are we going to belittle or ridicule GW2 elsewhere. Anet may have abandoned Guild Wars, but Guild Wars players have not necessarily abandoned Anet.We might voice (unwanted) opinions here - But we only do that because we: Have a PAID GW2 account. (Posting here is kind of locked otherwise)Still have a lot of respect for Anet as a games developer.Accept that GW2 is what it is and fans like that! But hey: Keep telling us just how welcoming and inclusive the GW2 "community" is... :/
  13. Quite surprised by the many condescending posts in this thread. :-( OP never called for GW2 changes. Op simply praised a game he/she (along with some of us) loved. Along with that praise he explained the feelings lost as some of the moments in Guild Wars is not likely going to ever happen again. Yes: I "miss" something can be a praise, even if I full well know things wont magically change: I miss my grandmother! - That does NOT imply that v2 (my mother) was a failure! However... Kneejerk reaction on this forum seems to be: Whats your point OP?, GW2 is better because MMO, Stop being entitled... Whatever conceited/condescending "Meh - I'm in the know" post. Sorry - This IS obviously "the community" here :( Guild Wars (You know, no "1" - The original game) and GW2 are different games. The original had dual classes, 1300+ skills and a Coop setting for a RPG.The followup, who happens to share name/lore are (supposedly) much easier to balance with a very limited set of skills. Hmm: You be the judge of how well that turned out! As for GW2 wonders of mobile combat and "red circles of double jumping" being fast/responsive: Please don´t embarrass yourself in this thread unless you have real experience as boon/infuser or e-denial mesmer in GW. (Yeah GW2 "mesmer" is a joke compared to what the class (originally) brought to the table to actually be unique/classdefining.)I Never heard a class-A E-surger or infuser complain about halls or GW's being "slow" gameplay) And yes OP: I miss and mourn what we can't have today in GW - But we still have the announced/weekly AB's and some active guilds :-)
  14. Experiencing the transition from Guild Wars to GW2: No need for a 3 if that is "yet another attempt at a B2P with added cashshop MMO".This game has a lot of fans - Keep them happy instead, even if some of us original Guild Wars players aren't happy at all.A mobile CORPG might be worth it but I (sadly) doubt Anet has the ability and perseverance to pull it off.
  15. In a way GW2 is still a "goto" game for me. I stopped playing but I loved the original Guild Wars, had high hopes for GW2 and I stop by (goto?) the forums every now and then, hoping GW2 turned more GW-like. (Never does, quite the opposite actually, but thats ok: Seems to be what the current players prefer.)As for "go to game to play when my primary MMO is offline"... GW2 is not it. Forums are fine. Game itself is no longer relevant to me.
  16. Ehh - Whatever gave you that idea? They are an abomination in any game - Even this "gem" of a game.
  17. Originally (around launch time) when Anet hired a monetization-wizard (or rather witch) of Nexon fame a lot of concern was voiced. This has been one of the few rare cases where expectations were actually met and perhaps surpassed by Anet. When my favourite game introduced paid RNG-boxes my monthly spending dropped from an average €18 to a clean 0. Those whales must be really tasty :)
  18. Good for you. Thanks! It is.While I miss what GW used to be, I am fine with passing on what GW now seems to be. Enjoy what you asked for: But don't expect me to co-fund it!
  19. Playing a different game solved this problem completely! (Yes I am serious.)
