  1. Haven't seen anyone request that a child die in this thread. Some requests, with which I disagree, for a piece of fiction to be killed off though.
  2. To me this is the issue. I dont want the character killed off, I just dont care for the excessive, IMO, use as a plot device.
  3. Players are not forced to use middlemen, they choose to do so. But, I think that raising the cap, if simple to do, would be reasonable.
  4. For those suggesting a twist on the traditional elf trope in order to avoid being generic same old same old versions....we have that. Sylvari are designed to be an altered take on the traditional rpg elf, made specifically to fit into gw2 lore. You arent asking for the addition of elves, you are asking for the addition of another race of elves. If Anet were to comply with your request, implemented in a manner to fit into gw2 lore without being a complete Tolkien knock off, you would probably then request yet another race of elves, and then another, and so on, until the game was flooded with elf variants.
  5. This. That said, I have played a game where players can create their own chat channels that others can then subscribe to. Some of them became very widespread while others remained very small scale. PoE does that, and it is player-base-wide. It doesn't suck, but the default channels are a nightmarish living hell of horrific proportions. They are also at ~ half the scale of GW2 given what I know of player estimates of both.Cool thing about the game I mentioned is that such channels could be open across multiple games from the same dev studio. So you could use them to chat with friends or guildies playing in the studio's sci fi game, their fantasy game, or their superhero game.

  7. Thank you for pointing out the problem here! That is exactly what I noticed too. As soon as someone recommend something NEW or DIFFERENT, the excuse is "It's against the LORE!" "It was NEVER mentioned before!" Seriously that excuse is getting a little old lol. Except that what the someone's you describe are not recommending anything new or different. They are asking for old and same.
  8. Sylvari often copy the social patterns of other races, humans in particular. Taking a surname is entirely appropriate. My own sylvari have been adopted into the extended human clan that most of my characters are part of so they share the surname.
  9. Favorite: Ranger/Soul Beast (love the hunter/stalker theme) Least Favorite: Core Engineer (dislike kits).
  10. How would a swimsuit be used in an offensive way?
  11. I like elves. Even so I would rather see an existing NPC race made playable than the addition of a non lore friendly race such as elves.
  12. Without any kind of reasoning? From a little further up the previous page: I'd guess it was the pace? Anyway I'd personally prefer to see new seasons and new stories. Agreed, i don't want it at the cost of season 4 and on quality. That said, there's something about the hole in the story now, that's only had a poor bandaid animation to cover it up.And even the people active at the time missed some parts, i missed almost a third of the whole thing myself. So it wouldn't be considered wasted resources if they put them in, considering for how many it would be new content For some unknown, but less than 100%, percentage of the player base LS1 would be new content. For 100% of the player base newly developed content would be new content. Do you spend limited resources to produce new content for 100% of players or for less than 100% of players? I am not opposed to spending resources on niche content for fractions of the player base. Every bit of content in the game fits that description to one extent or another...but remember that every hour spent redesigning and revamping old content is not being spent on new.
  13. There is a mix on this. I have had players complain about interfering. If I have time, I look at the players/target health, jump in if needed. Or I'll just watch until the player goes down then revive without attacking the target, lol. Maybe share some boons. This. I dont want to deprive someone of the satisfaction of having won a fight on their own, but I dont want to leave someone who might be struggling to die either. So I look at their health and watch for a moment. I then either jump in, or at least toss them a heal or a boon or three.
  14. Agree, many of the outfits are just armor sets disguised as outfits. Outfits should be for single-piece dresses and such, the kind of things that can't be regular armor sets. Why do you quote every line one by one? Just use bullet points, it's easier to read and reply to, and takes less work. The developers don't always tell the truth, they have to defend their business interests. That's why you have things like Glint's masks in three different colors sold separately, instead of one that can be dyed with any color you want.Helms, shoulders, gloves, and boots require no upgrade to work together across weights, they use the same model foundation. Only chests and legs have a different setup.Any skin can be combined with each other, it's always been possible. They all fit together well, except chests and legs which might clip horribly when combining different weights. Was doable for a long time in the preview panel, before they blocked it. You can stack skins perfectly too. There's no expense and no cost here, they only need to place some restrictions to avoid ugly broken combinations, and even that's a design decision, not a technical problem. Most of your "expenses" are just excuses, and cheap ones for that matter. You should dedicate some time to learn 3D basics, you would be surprised with many of your previous assumptions. The proposed system ain't only easy to implement, it would also bring much more money, since it would solve many of the problems with outfits and make them a more attractive product. You should put a bigger effort on making the game better, instead of making constant excuses to keep it stale and unable to grow.If it would be easy to implement while also bringing in much more money, as you say, with ANet's past statements against your assertions being merely a matter of defending their business interests, as you state, then your claims seem to be contradictory. Doing easy things that bring in a lot more money are in the company's business interest. If the the company's statements which contradict some of the claims are in the business' interest then the opposite cannot be.
  15. I have purchased a few outfits, and might have purchased others where the only thing stopping me was the shoulders, if they could be unchecked.
  16. So light sets should provide no protection at all, bullets and explosions should easily penetrate any armor, and so on?
  17. I think that outfits have a place here. They allow for quick and easy clothing changes, an option to maintain appearance without using up transmutation charges while leveling, and an easier (than armor) to produce source of revenue. Some of them even look pretty nice (IMO).
  18. It might be an "abandoned" game mode but some things still use the dungeon currencies like legendary weapons, and you need to unlock explorable mode or the wvw/pvp reward tracks to get those normally (I wouldn't really count the tyrian vouchers as a reliable means), and that requires running through story mode. I dont disagree. I like small group instanced content and would love to see further development of dungeons...but Anet has decided otherwise.
  19. I am not sure that we are likely to see much development, if any, for a game mode that the devs have abandoned.
  20. Considering that the thread was going on three months since the last post before yours, and longer still since some of the posts you describe, I am not sure of the relevance of this commentary. The length of time since a previous post does not affect the relevance of the commentary on it. If they were arrogant 3 months ago, they were will arrogant, and the comments will still be arrogant 3 months in the future.Of course the passage of time, and change that usually accompanies that passage, affects relevance. The, supposed, arrogance becomes less relevant to the current state of affairs and so commentary on that arrogance is similarly less relevant.
  21. Outdamaging his heal is a viable option (or at least was originally) It's also a silly option when it's so very much simpler to just break his bar and not let him heal at all.I didnt find it to be silly to kill a boss before he can heal himself.
