  1. You need to talk to Dive Master Astora. It doesn't happen often, maybe two or three times a month. Imagine you are defending Bay around the Lord and you lose. The keep immediately flips on you and all the exits are blocked. Some failed defenders jump off the walls and into the water, hoping to evade combat until they can port out. That's when the fun begins and no, they can't shy away from intense underwater battles then. 🤣🏊‍♂️🤣
  2. An important legal point. An interesting way for Anet to monetize this without any fan project issues. If Anet were to offer this as an option, it would be a very interesting idea indeed. If the price were reasonable, say in the $20-$30 U.S. range, I'd buy one or two myself. If it were in the $100+ range though, forget it.
  3. My initial response was to either make the airbreather legendary or remove it entirely, I'd be good either way. My second thought was that there could be issues with either of those choices. If the airbreathers go legendary, will we have to make three different versions of them - light, medium, and heavy? Ouch! On the other hand, if we just eliminate airbreathers entirely, where will the swim-speed infusions go? I have a +20 swim-speed infusion on my WvW alt, which comes in really handy when enemies jump into the water at Bay, thinking they can escape that way. 😅 If the airbreather could be reduced to one legendary rather than three, or if we got someplace else to slot the swim-speed infusion, I'd be good either way.
  4. There's two points I was trying to make. The first one is that you cannot speak for all players, you can only speak from your own experience and that of the people you know. The second point, speaking only for myself, is that kind of overly dramatic exaggeration makes your arguments ring false in my ears, even though I generally agree with what you are saying about half-baked systems. When you say that you and people in your guild don't have the extra guild slots to join a new alliance guild, that rings true to me, like you are pointing toward a real problem. However, when you say "No one, literally no one has empty guild slots" that just sounds ridiculous to me. Simply put, for me, the exaggeration doesn't help your argument, it weakens it.
  5. SweetPotato, while I generally agree with you about releasing a half-baked system not being a good idea, I did wonder where this statement came from. I've had an empty guild slot for a while now and as far as I know, I'm someone, not "no one". People have asked on the forum for more guild slots and I'd support that. It's just hyperbole like this that clangs like a broken bell in my ears.
  6. That is such a matter of personal taste and opinion that I'm not sure what you are trying to get from other players, OP. Me? I generally go along the lines that Vilin is suggesting. I use skins that fit a given alt's look. I have a number of first gen legendary weapons atm and there are only a couple who's look I love so much that I'll just use the leggy as is, rather than putting a skin on it that suits the alt's appearance. Those two are the Dreamer shortbow and the Predator rifle. All the other weapons and all my leggy armor are reskinned to fit the individual alt. Heck, with my WvW main, I re-dye them every week to match our server's color that week and will also reskin the leggy weapons every week to fit the new colors. Other players of course will have their own ideas about how to shape the appearance of their alts.
  7. OP, if Anet locked all access to T6 mats behind SotO ownership, then the entire player base, including me, would be screaming bloody murder. That's not the case here though, far from it. Heck, there are three other ways to get those T6 mats within the Vault itself without buying the SotO expansion. The first is the one you mentioned yourself, buying Laurels and using those to buy the Heavy Crafting Bags. A more cumbersome method would be to buy the unlimited number of Large Crafting Bags available in the Vault and then using the Mystic Forge to turn their contents into T6 mats. A simpler, more direct method would be to buy the unlimited gold bags in the Vault and use that gold to buy the T6 mats directly. Then there are all the other ways of getting T6 mats that have nothing to do with the Vault. That's why the Vault's gate on those heavy bags seems so trivial to me, because there are so many other wide open gates to get those T6 mats for anyone needs them. I do have to add though, that it would be nice if someone at Anet read your thread here and got rid of that trivial gate as well as bringing bounties back to dailies. I won't hold my breath waiting for changes like that but it would be nice if those changes were made. And if the changes were made, we'd all have to thank you for raising those issues in the first place, hyperbole and all.
  8. rofl- You don't even need the bags anymore and this is one of the two things you fixate on out of everything involved with the Wizard's Vault? 🤣 Sorry OP, but I gotta agree with Randulf.7614 on this one. Yes, those heavy bags should be accessible to everyone who uses the Vault. Since there are so many other ways of getting those crafting mats though, this really is a minor issue to me, a very minor one. My two cents on the Wizard's Vault? I really, really like it. At the moment I have one main account and five alt accounts. Working on the dailies and weeklies for all those accounts has given me new goals in the game, nicely lucrative goals. And the various tasks have taken me back to maps and metas I haven't played in a while. So I thoroughly enjoy the WV. Randulf is probably also right about this being just the first iteration of the Vault. I'm looking forward to seeing how it evolves and grows over time. "Scummy" and "extortionate"? Not in my book, not by a long shot. I'd call the Wizard's Vault bountiful and overflowing myself. 🤣
  9. rofl - Well OP, apparently you can ease down from your panic and relax. It's more than a month later and he's still making GW2 videos. So I guess we, and all of Tyria, are still safe - for now at least! 🤣
  10. rofl - My existing guild connections may not meet your standards but they meet mine just fine. And right there I think is the crux of why I disagree with you. Teknomancer highlighted that core disagreement nicely. Let me repeat a key sentence of his, "Let people play the game the way they want to, not the way you want them to." It feels to me like the OP has a certain idea of what a guild should be and they want Anet to change the game to lock us all into that idea. Me? I like Anet's current sandbox approach - Here's a guild, make of it what you will. Want a casual, social guild? You can make one. Want a heavy duty WvW fighting guild? Build one. Want a guild that serves as the core hub for a variety of game modes, along with facilitating deep interpersonal relations between the members? What's stopping you from creating one? My own preference is for everyone to build, or find, the kind of guild they want, rather than trying to force everyone into one person's idea of what the "ideal" guild should be.
  11. I rarely see it myself but there are a steady stream of complaints about it in the WvW subforum. There are two threads there right now talking about hacking in WvW. This would have been a more accurate way of saying what I meant..."My concern is that leaderboards for guilds would increase the complaints about hacking and cheating..."
  12. For me it's not a problem and I generally follow a variation on what Danikat is saying. If there's something in the gem store that I want, I'll use real money to buy the gems to get it. The gold I get ingame mostly goes for legendaries. That gives me an ingame goal to work toward and I enjoy the process of making gold in this game to reach my current goal. Oh, and I'm not rich irl - far from it. I'm retired and live on a small Social Security check. It's enough to leave me with a bit of disposable income every month and that's what I use to buy gems with when there is something in particular I want.
  13. This morning my WvW guild did a two hour run and it was great fun. Part of the fun was some intricate, tough fighting in various keeps and towers. Part of the fun was all the joking and laughing and playing in our Discord vc. Tonight a group from that guild will be doing SotO strikes and I am looking forward to joining them for that. The Lab is coming up soon and folks in that guild are very much looking forward to it, as well as other Halloween fun like a guild costume contest. This December I'll get my first 6th year birthday present. OP, I don't know what the future is going to bring for GW2 and Anet. I do know however that I am still playing and enjoying GW2 right now. Yes, there are a lot of problems with the game, in WvW and in the other game modes but I am still happily romping around in Tyria every day.
  14. Sorry OP, but as a WvW main, I'd have to agree with Farohna on this, though I would go even further. My concern is that leaderboards for guilds would increase the hacking and cheating, as well as the toxicity. No thanks.
  15. Thanks Grimm. It's probably too late for this year but it doesn't hurt to ask. And if not this Halloween, maybe we'll get it on track for next Halloween. 💀💀💀 😺
  16. Ouch! At this point I have 15 legendary weapons and getting them wasn't a grind for me at all. Doggie here does the same thing I do, something which makes the whole process far easier... I haven't crafted a single legendary weapon. The 15 I have are all Gen 1s bought off the Trading Post with gold I earned doing things in the game I enjoy. It wasn't until Anet first announced that we were going to get the Legendary Armory that I started going after legendary weapons. I don't remember how long ago that was so I can't give you an average time that it took me to earn the gold to buy each of those legendaries. However, I do know that it didn't take two years to accumulate the gold for each one.
  17. Wow, there are some massive, heavy duty generalizations in that paragraph without anything that suggests those generalizations are actually based in fact, not just someone's personal opinions. Let's break those generalizations down a bit... 1.".All guilds feel meaningless since each player there is in multiple ones, and cares very little if one of them disbands." I cannot speak for "each player" but only for myself. On my main account, I am in four guilds. One is a WvW guild that I run with for two hours a day, five to seven days a week. One is a tiny guild made up of a handful of people who have become friends ingame. We get together once a week as rl allows, just to hang out together for an hour or two. One is a brand new guild just set up by some folks in the WvW guild to run together in the Lab this Halloween. The fourth guild I'm in is a farming guild that puts out a lot of info on the best ways to farm ingame. I am friends with people in three of those guilds and I would very much care if they disbanded. The farming guild is only an information source for me. 2. "People represent when it is time to group up, and that is all they will give for the guild. They're just not invested enough to show real effort for the wellbeing of the guild or to be ready to partcipate in heavy conversations." Again, I can only speak for myself, not for all the "People" who play GW2. I do what I can to support my WvW guild. Every time I run with the squad, I stick around after the run to share my full home instance with with guildies who would like to harvest there. Nor am I the only one who does that. Several members of the guild also share their full home instance after every run. I donate needed supplies to the guild, as the guild leaders indicate they are needed. Many of the folks in the guild do that, donating mats and gold as needed. There is one guildie who cooks ascended food that is put out at every run. There is another guildie who runs trainings for fractals on a regular basis and who gathers guildies to help anyone working on tough achievements. Throughout the day, guildies can call out for help as needed for anything they are doing ingame. As for "heavy conversations" a two hour WvW run is not the place for those, particularly since our squad tends to run 25-50 people. depending on the day and on who else is tagged up at the same time. Still, I've had serious conversations one on one with folks in that guild when it seemed appropriate. The tiny guild I'm in very much offers support to each other, both when we are together as a group as well as individually, one on one. Yes, with the farming guild, I generally just read their latest info and don't do much else with that one. The guild set up for Lab runs is brand new so I can't say much about that one. Overall though, my personal experience with guilds is very different than what the OP describes in their generalizations. Again, let me break these statements down a bit.. 1. "You must admit that guilds or clans in other games of the genre, do hold more value to their members." Hmm, don't know about you but I don't have to admit that since I have no idea what values players in other MMOs give to their guilds or clans. 2. "And that value of new members has dropped drastically to guilds since there are very few public recruit messages anymore." Once again I can only speak from my own experience and once again, my personal experience does not match what the OP is saying. I'm on a NA server and as an old, retired guy, I get to play a lot every day. I'm in and out of the game in the early mornings, mid-days, and prime time. I see guild recruitment messages every day. Most of them are in or near prime time but I have seen guilds recruiting in WvW earlier in the day. TL/DR I'm playing GW2 for five to six hours a day, in WvW and open world PVE. In the guilds I am a member of and in map chat on a wide variety of maps, I am not seeing the problems the OP sees, which is why I don't see any need for their suggested solutions.
  18. This is a great compilation! Thank you! Anet, I hope you will implement these awesome ideas! 🤞 🤞 🤞 <----(crossed fingers in case you can't tell. 😺)
  19. Ah, thank you both. Those are some awesome ideas! Anet, please do it! Put some of these great ideas in the Specials section! 🙏
  20. I would love it if there were WvW tasks in the Vault. What folks are saying about the specials promoting SotO make sense but perhaps at the next Vault reset they could start including things besides SotO tasks.
  21. Well, Anet, you asked for it, so here goes - my WvW guild's first official suggestion for a WvW Bonus Event: For reasons beyond my feeble comprehension, there are folks in my WvW guild who are madly in love with Steve. In fact, a couple of them have a fierce running battle going over who gets to be Steve's girlfriend! 😱 Now our guild will be running all kinds of fun stuff during Halloween including a 24 hour lab marathon, but we figure it is way past time to bring Halloween fun into WvW too. So our official Bonus Event suggestion is that during the Halloween event, Steve should also be running amok in WvW. He could randomly pop out during fights in keeps and towers, indiscriminately attacking both sides. Defenders would get defense credit for fighting him while attackers would get attack credit. If he is taken down, the rewards should include Halloween stuff of course, like cool Halloween skins as well as piles of Candy Corn. As you most likely know, many WvW players have Candy Corn Gobblers with rapacious appetites, so Candy Corn rewards would be most welcome there. There is not much time before this year's Halloween event so please get those event Devs working on this asap! EDIT: And this suggestion was too good not to add here... Oh, and this is not a Bonus Event suggestion but I was instructed to include this request, under pain of getting kicked in the butt if I didn't! One of our Steve lovers has Madame Cookie's mini to keep her company but she would also like Madame Cookie in her home instance to hold onto during those long, lonely months when Steve is So Far Away.
  22. lol - Out of all the things broken in WvW they move the nodes in one Tower and that makes life so much easier? My WvW squad just noticed that change in Crankshaft this morning and it cracked us up. The best we could figure was that one of the Devs had gotten pulled off the wall while harvesting a node there and then decided that was a major, major problem that had to be fixed immediately! The very first thing I'd like to see fixed in WvW would be for the Devs to actually start communicating with the WvW players in an honest, timely way. For them to actually start answering questions like this and explaining mysterious disappearances like this thread asked them to do for weeks turning into months. When they make that quality of life change, then I'll tell them thank you. For moving some nodes though? 🤣
  23. Presumably it has to do with those "backend functions for balance and matchmaking" but what those are I haven't a clue. And, as we all know, asking Anet what that means is a waste of breath. Though I do appreciate you keeping the question alive.
  24. I'm not sure why people keep having trouble with this. It's pretty clear just in the responses here that folks have different ideas about what rewards to get from the Vault. That's a good thing as the ability to choose our own rewards is one of the best things about the Vault. For example, I didn't like the cosmetics and have no need of the legendary starter kit, so I didn't bother with those, though other posters here started with them. What I found worked best for me was a very simple strategy - look over everything available, decide what I want, get those items, and when I had everything I wanted, I simply shifted to buying the endless gold bags. I know a number of folks who have been spending their AA on items they don't like, don't particularly want and sometimes can't even use, because they didn't know what else to do with their AA. So let me say this again: When you have all the specific items you want from the Vault, then spend your AA on the endless gold bags. If you are concerned that something may be added to the Vault down the line that will make you wish you had saved your AA, remember that getting AA is not that hard and doesn't take that long. If that doesn't ease your concern, then only buy enough of those endless gold bags to keep your AA below the cap. 300 AA will get you 10 gold. So a simple strategy for saving your AA while staying under the cap is to buy 300 AA's worth of endless gold bags every time you hit the 1300 AA cap. That way you will always have 1000 AA on hand in case Anet suddenly puts something in the Vault that you absolutely have to have asap. TL/DR It really is that simple folks. It's not rocket science. Decide the specific items you want. Get those and spend the rest of your AA on the endless gold bags. If you want to keep some AA on hand, do so by spending enough AA on the endless gold bags to keep you under the cap while saving the rest.
