  1. and many, maaany others... Ofc i have the option to grind gold, and that's what i do if I really want it. I'm not mad about it.That's not my point. Hell i'm better off not wasting real money for these items and getting gems with gold instead. What I am doing is being nice, and taking my time and effort (as a real life economist and a player) to let A-net know there's a big market right under their noses they're not tapping into. The poorer/F2P players, that aren't ingrates and given a good deal would happily throw few $ at the game to keep it going and flowing. But few very big mistakes with gemstore policies prevent that from happening, costing A-net a lot of money it's clearly not aware of. A game can sure as hell run on whales that's true. But it'll run a lot better if everyone is happily willing to chip in a bit of their $, rather then going by "you gotta be thiiiiiiis tall (money wise) to pass that gate" policy. As a real life economist, you should know better than to suggest there is a problem with their prices without having the data you need to make that statement.
  2. Oh, so you have Anet's balance sheets or you're just making a generalization? The fact is that you have no idea what Anet's Revenues and Costs are.
  3. This was an issue long before especs ... the 'cause' of the 'problem' is how the game is designed and it's mechanics, not specifically how the individual classes work. How is the will to do something efficiently an „issue”? This horse is long dead. Make your own „4 viper necro 1 druid” fractal group :pensive: Why does no one cry about those? :pI don't get the question ... elitism and optimized comps for instanced content was an issue long before especs. Perhaps you misunderstood something.

  5. The more that people will push meta builds in their teams, the more they exclude people willing to do the content ... EVEN with builds that are meta. They create their own extinction curve. GL with that.
  6. Theres more than enough non-meta lfg-searches up each hour of the day to proof you wrong on that one. So I really dont understand what you are so up in arms about. You got kicked for trying to force your wishes on a lfg group? Is that it? Sorry, but if you dont like the lfg description of a group, dont join it. Simple as that. Or is it really that you want to get into a speedrun but dont want to bring the build/profession/training needed for it? I noticed thats the problem of about 90% of all those raging against "meta" in whichever game or gamecontent. What you have to realize at that point though, is that nobody wants to carry someone else in speedruns. Be it because of lack of skill or lack of proper build. Thats just not the concept of speedruns. Or maybe you think its ludicrous how people that dont even know the basics of speedruns try to emulate them by just bringing the same elite speccs? Well, yeah. It is ludicrous. However, if they want to do that... then let them. I usually can spot them easy enough and if its not a real speedrun group, I just leave on first boss. Again, dont see the point of being so aggressive about it. LAWLWUT? I never got kicked. You really don't understand what I'm so up in arms about because I'm not up in arms; clearly you took that statement out of context.
  7. I am not saying that but when you use a dungeon that is notorious for being poorly designed and buggy as an example what did you expect to hear? My point is that it wasn't the ONLY dungeon they soloed ... Well dungeons in general are a poor metric to use. I mean there is a reason Anet abandoned that spaghetti mess of content. No, it wasn't a poor metric to use to assess meta builds because it was the only content in the game at the time where meta builds were relevant. Raid/Fractal elitism is the SAME atttitudes that drove Dungeon elitism; optimized play. Well, not just optimized play, but the idea that optimized play is the only acceptable way of play that should be tolerated in the game. That's such crap ... but ... if there are people that wish to believe AND play with other people that believe the same thing, they should have the same rights to play how they want as anyone else. The big problem back then was that there wasn't any way to filter people, so the abuse of players with dislike ideas on how to play was significant. This exist in every game (some in smaller scales of course) and honestly there is very little you can do about it. That's true. Anet has done what they can to alleviate this; provide a way for players to set their expectations prior to starting the instance on LFG. Still, it can be ignored and abused, but at that point, players police themselves.

  10. So you're saying that all their solo runs were using an exploit? Interesting. I would love to see what they think of your claim. Still, the same ideas are surfacing in this thread, and they are still as irrelevant as the first day someone told me I was being 'selfish' because I wasn't playing meta.
  11. Well done :)Which emphasizes the on-topic point: knowing the mechanics is more important than the team comp or anyone's build. There might be elitist LFGs, but people can ignore them and join/start groups that care more about other things. Either way of running the content is fine; the problems only start when someone insists on imposing their way on others. I'm reminded by an argument by metapushers about 4 years ago ... where some of them soloed Arah Dungeon with a Bow bear in some defensive gear. Somehow, they were all proud of 'proving' how important meta was by this little demonstration. A pretty self-gratifying smirk come over my face; Oh yes, way to demonstrate the necessity of meta ... by soloing the hardest content (at the time) with the worst possible build :expressionless: Seems we are seeing a little of this with some posters in this thread; indeed what you say is correct, mechanics trumps build, always. The metapushers already proved that (at their own expense, which only made the point sweeter) Elitism will not go away; it's how players handle it and how they interact with elitist players that will help avoid it. I'm all for these players; after all, they are just playing how they want, just like anyone else should be. Most of the bosses in Arah were buggy as hell back then (Belka, Lupi, and Brie still are) to where you could exploit ability stacking into specific spots or instantly kill them with reflects. And? That STILL doesn't change the fact that Metapushers killed their own arguments for soloing instanced team content with non-meta builds. You are under the impression that Arah was the only dungeon they could solo?

  13. To be fair ... people run the builds others tell them to because there is no good way to test if your own concocted builds are any good or work how you think they would. I mean, you COULD blow hundreds of gold on testing prefixes and different weapons ... or you could minimize your cost and get some guarantee of a highly functioning build right off the bat. The bottom line is that people don't know and/or don't care to fail, so they assume taking established builds, even if they are overtuned for the content, will close the gap to being successful. Besides, lots of people who run instanced content are used to this approach anyways; it was born out of PUGs from dungeons over 4 years ago. The answer here: build your own groups if you have requirements for what you do and don't want to do in them.
  14. To some people Soulbeast is the best thing to happen to Ranger ... because the idea of having a pet to manage as a Ranger was apparently too much for them to handle. If there is a wasted opportunity, look to the players that think they know better ... it's clear to me this direct was at least partly influenced by those cries for petless rangers.
  15. He sucks you in too you cant just keep walking backwards if you not doing enough damage it will just be a stalemate forever. That was before any nerfs. That means you're not breaking his break bar. Obviously if you're not breaking his break bar you're not going to get anywhere, but it also means you're entirely failing this fight since his break bar is insanely easy to break. Yah like I said I did it once before any nerfs. Without changing my equipment or redoing story but by bugging him on my ultra survival ranger. If I didnt bug him I would have been in a stalemate with him forever as I wasnt doing enough dps. I only came into this thread in response to the guy that was baiting earlier. Ultra survival ranger. That sounds like my build. Cleric gear and signets with longbow. And I beat him by walking backwards and auto-attacking. So... Ok you go with that story but mine is authentic.Hold on ... to be fair, that strategy worked very well. I took a melee Warrior with shouts ... I simply kited around him in a circle. It's one of the oldest MMO tricks in the book. When he started his ray attack, I ducked behind a tree. I actually found the instance ... pretty basic. I did the EXACT thing in the fight with Balthazar right before that part of the story as well... it's a pretty common tactic against mobs that have 'facing' attacks. This thread has a serious problem ... MMO gamers that don't want to solve problems. If people can't figure these things out, there isn't a reason to nerf the encounter for them.
  16. It's simply trading time for golds and viceversa. There's no point in the discussion itself, cause crafting a legendary ( and a precursor, through the achievement epic run ) is meant to be something that somebody would achieve over the weeks/months, and not instantly. You want to skip and get your item without waiting? You can, but you probably will pay a higher price. So basically this sounds to me that if i want something faster, and i dont wish to spend an eternity grinding i will be effectively punished with a greater cost of the precursor i want to craft? This sounds really familiar to me, almost like some new mounts that got released quite recently, isnt that what they responded to their official answer? A goal to work towards?. Guess anet never changes... So you want it cheap, you want it now and you want it easy? Wow, aren't you easy to appease. The fact is that you can't have all those things and the precursor crafting OPTION was never intended to deliver those to you. I never wanted it cheap, all i wanted is more fun out of it, an enjoyment if u will of the overall experience, i mean, i expected 1k gold to get me something fun out of it.That's not a very reasonable view. Every element of the game can't be all things to everyone. There is no logic behind the amount of gold you spend and how much fun you have. I have the most fun NOT spending gold, but earning it. Let's be honest, it's crafting ... crafting is collecting mats and pressing a button. Why would it be more fun for you just because it's a precursor? Were you a huge crafting fan before this was released? Do you get massive thrills from hunting down materials? Did you not think the volume of materials you would need for a precursor would be significantly more than anything else? I mean, I KNEW it wouldn't be fun for me and I didn't even need to see it ingame to figure this all out.

  18. Why are you playing a game where there isn't anything for you to do ... that you don't play a monthly fee for?
  19. That's not what I'm talking about. You might be fixated on some kind of race concept; I have never eluded to anything of the sort. I'm talking about real advantages you can't get without a mount, like avoiding mob control or gaining easy location access. For instance I completed a mastery in Orr easily because of a mount. Perhaps Anet will fix that but for now, it exists. Those are REAL advantages over someone who is on foot. maybe it's way you word things you come accross as sounding out of favor of mounts because people can do this or that. I can evade mobs run every map using swiftness not from advantage of swiftness maybe advantage of knowledge but thats something you can't put a rule on.Yes you can, but you need to 'pay' for that by making your build have swiftness somehow ... with mounts you don't; with mounts you simply gain a free 'gear' slot to get more advantages. There is no way to deny that mounts offer the advantages I've referred to. The question here is if those advantages should be in the F2P package of the game. I don't believe they should, because they aren't necessary for F2P players in the parts of the game they can access. Neither. Whether you can get to hard vistas without mounts or do other stuff without mounts has NOTHING to do with mounts giving players advantages over players that don't have them. If there is logic here, it's evading you, not me. There is TONS of stuff you can do without 'things' but that doesn't mean that having 'things' doesn't give you advantages. The main problem is that having mounts allows you to do things that you shouldn't be able to do .. like get that Mastery point at the top of Malchor's Leap JP ... and a WHOLE bunch of other places I've been using it in Core Tyria. That IS an advantage over players that don't have mounts ... whether you like to admit it or not. It's borderline obtuse at this point to not see the advantage that the extra mount gear slot gives you. This is simply another gear slot ... highly specialized, but it is exactly that.

Perhaps Anet will fix that but for now, it exists. Those are REAL advantages over someone who is on foot. But isn't this how all MMOs work? Of course a veteran player is going to have an advantage over a newer one; better equipment, more experience, mounts, etc. I'm personally enjoying the mounts greatly, and appreciate how much easier they make traversing maps. Also, anyone that threw money at Anet for PoF has this advantage. There is going to be a downside to not being a paying customer. Why should I not have an advantage over a free-to-play player?Agreed ... I think this just reinforces my original point; mounts are just gear ... gear gives advantages. The question here is if f2P should have this advantage. I would say they shouldn't, as there isn't anything they need it for in the parts of the game they can access.

  22. I can't help but laugh because the argument has no logic it's hilarious to see people think like this in gw2 actually bit sad to. Man i miss gw1 more and more community over there was great. (not bad here either always gonna be weird perspectives most people I've ran into been pretty straight up players and people as a whole) Sure always some sorta complaint, always will be, but least logic was backing most of the arguments and even facts themselves. Anyways, sorry you feel way you do, truth is guess you might need get used to it. Changes come they happen a great deal in this game, i member when commander tag costed 100g. I've seen alotta changes happen in gw2 both good and bad but people adapted and continue to play. Those that hated all the changes left, i still see a few my old old 1st days of gw2 friends return though. They always return unless they got banned that happens to. But the part I find so hilarious how you got mad had to drop to the personal attacks on me that there tells me all i need to know about you and your argument. I'ma have to agree with ayumi the argument seems to be based on some personal narcissistic race of some kind. Vista points arnt a race nor champions nor jumping puzzles etc. Sure I mean you can tell yourself oh ima make it to vista before bob oh look bob fell off cliff ahahahaha I win bob lol. But theres no meaning to it, no point to such things. The argument is just acknowledging that at it's core, mounts are just like any other piece of gear. Hence, they come with the same reasons and choices that gear does with the end resulting in give the player and advantage. It's really irrelevant if you can't see how that works. I don't get what this 'race' stuff you are talking about. I never said anything about racing so I don't know why you are responding to me about it. I'm going to ask you try to follow what I'm saying if you want to respond to me. I'm going to have to stop responding to you though ... clearly you aren't understanding the simple concept being presented, or you just want to argue for fun.
  23. Bit hard to form a train...when there's another mounted train killing off the champs before you can get there. Tag up and start your own then. Who said there needs to be only 1 train? Up to free players to adapt. Got a train for the mounters got a train for the walkers.Problem solved. i'm talking on behalf of the HP/MP champs world bosses you got time to get to em even if ya walking. Use swiftness or speed modifying trait/signet not much slower than a mount. Except the champs don't spawn quick enough for both.Btw "free players"?...I have the expacs...doesn't mean I don't recognise that mounts cause problems for those unmounted. Except for like 1 champ in HoT, they don't die instantly. For PoF, while I have been to some of those trains (mainly because the characters I bought were like level 20 to level 50 so... they couldn't do it on their own)... they are pretty much doable as one person if you don't have to worry too much on random enemy aggro around the Hero Points, or better yet with 2 or 3 people. So what I'm wondering is which hero points are you talking about? I'm talking about core Tyria, I was playing SW and champs there die to mounted players before unmounted can catch up for the most part. The problem would only then be that those on mounts just got there, but the Champions were dying quickly due to their attacks and not because the mount. Before mounts I've seen many times where I see an enemy and I try to reach it in time, but I got there when it's at 50% or less and the hp just melted away and dies inches away from me.And I would assume you mean just the little random ones and not the actual meta or the Legendaries that give titles/masteries as I've never seen those things die so fast unless someone calls out "Legend here" and then people just melt it like they're the kitten sun on a snowflake. Well, it's one example. Keeping up with the zerg is more difficult if you don't have a mount. Mounts also, over power low level map enemies which make it harder on new players to tag enemies. Point is mounts are a problem in core Tyria....but nothing is likely to change, still they do cause problems to unmounted players and it just goes to show that Anet didn't think the mounts through. This isn't really a problem. The Champs respawn and you can do them at your leisure. How fast you get there is irrelevant. I mean, if your complaint is following a champ train ... that seems like a really weak reason to get mounts outside of POF
  24. I don't understand you are going on about ... I'm not saying everyone should have mounts. I am saying they give you advantages for certain parts of the core game and those advantages degrade the Core game experience. For some reason you challenged that with a flippant question about the difficulty that's avoided doing vista's with mounts. Perhaps you should LMAO less and read more.
