  1. You are so right. My two sets of clothes are Sneakthief when it gets rough or the Noble Count when I feel comfortable. Here is an excerpt of my wallpaper. You can see both sets also follow a real theme, and not just throw in "huge shoulder pads, cleavage" etc. The sneakthief set - except for the hideous headpiece that I replace with my leather mask that I chose as first item and my aviator shades- is really perfect and all I need for my little Deadeye. I like every bit of it, and grey (black) and black (shadow abyss) dye works on it so well that you can still see the material (leather) and accents and not just a over-saturated mess. And about the quality of the gemstore outfit - it was a no-brainer when I saw it. For some reason, the tails of the tailcoats (in German these are called "Schwalbenschwänze", but there is no English term for that?) of the Noble Count outfit behave properly when I kneel for sniping. Also, the golden chains on that outfit can be heard moving with a soundeffect every 2nd step or so. So not only the texture quality, but also little details like these and even the physics work better then the old ones. It's a pity that only like 3 sets (the aforementioned two and the ghostly outfit) are outfits that I enjoy. The "Noble" set is also nice, but works only for my engineer. Excelsior.
  2. Bless (hehe!) has that. It sounds okay, but once you know the "default" / C tone in music, you can hear that it's pitched. It's just a mind game though, but it irks me.For example, my Mascus both have a slightly higher pitch because of..being small, but you still know that it's a bit artificial. The French one seems to hastily and out of breath, but each to their own. Excelsior.
  3. If companies would finally stop this nonsense of "team effort" - especially in SoloQ - and finally introduce a personal rating based on your personal results in ALL stats, it would be so much better! On the other hand, restrict the padding to a minium and there you go. It is insane that your personal rating is influenced by 80% strangers over the internet that you don't know, never meet and don't even speak the same language - or worst, they don't even want to win. That makes me so mad in LoL already and it would drive me nuts in every other game as well. Personal stats, over a long time, would be a very good indicator. I am talking about a pure mix of damage, deaths and assists, heals and all that. Would take some time to figure out a balance there, but people with a high assist count (so not just only the "big players" of a match) should be rewarded equally. But right now, it's random people together, divide by 5, there you go. Now the MMR changed after the game despite you were only a small part. It's bad in both ways: Winning or losing. RIGHT NOW, the matchmaking COULD start to work, because it can figure out the MMR of the team working together (or not) -- it is disbanded. MMR can only work with less clutter like premades and always shifting teams. It need to be solid. And that would be achieved with a personal rating. You lose your game despite being awesome: Gain MMR. You are bad in 12 games in a row: Your stats lower a bit, it's called "average value" for a reason. You are permanently performing bad? Play against other equally badly performing players - and not being a filler to be carried by way higher team mates. Right now, this matchmaking is busted and does not even deserve that term. I could flip coins and get better results.
  4. You forgot the "and use the most cheesy profession to faceroll" part.I think it's terrible that you talk like that to the OP. That's an awful and condescending way that even me Asura freak shocks. To OP:Just pick what you think is fun. I do not do the slightest of the bulldung that is around in this game and that's what I like about it. Enjoy it your way.I can understand a lot what you say. Not that I've ran into something I should get trough and could not alone (100% solo here, and KeoLegend is a reason why is that) but there were fights where I gave up any reasonable tactics or something and "predict" and "learn, learn, learn". In one fight, forgot which one, there was some funky thing spinning around in a small arena boss room (Looked like a sewage treatment plant's sieve) and I could not dodge as often as it appeared, have been downed like three billion times. I cheesed my way trough it. HoT is totally on hold and I can't complete it too. Heck, I skipped a lot of the story because of that. I also had to Skipp Orr back then. All the story does not make sense to me because of that. Right now I can't find my way to Rata Novus and so I am in the desert. Picking stuff that is fun is easy. But I still know how it feels. The caves full of Mordrem that respawn so fast or stop you from recovering so that you have to die eventually are a terrible game design and has nothing to do with difficulty in sense of challenge, but rather arbitrary quirks and bugs (e.g. I can hit a boss as kneeled Deadeye but it counts as being too far away - the boss plattform only matters. Why do I have a ranged profession in the first place? Or "No valid path to target. Or aggro getting stuck, preventing me from recovering health, super small ledges in HoT that prevent Daredevil and Thief being played properly due to our acrobatic playstyle launching us off cliffs etc. etc.). But as said, just calm down and do the things you enjoy. I skip probably 90% of the game and it's actually a waste of harddisk space, but when I do play, I have a blast! :-) Excelsior.
  5. I wish I could select one of the weapons I use as title, and I am talking about the description."You dispense death from the palm of your hand." (Pistol Master) did sound cheesy to me in the first moment, but gunning down things with Unload left such an impression that I decided for the Thief profession in the first place. "You deftly mix precision and power with this two-handed weapon." (Rifle Master) would suit 100% to Rifle Deadeye etc.
  6. The problem with your statement is that GW2's engine is so bad, it is THE reason why it is running bad on older PCs as well as on new rigs.If you, for example, think of GTAV and its ability to look absolutely great on a GTX660 or how well FFXIV runs on my rig, while GW2 suffers due to bad programming, your argument is kind of flawed. The graphics themselves are nice, but if you - again - think of FFXIV, they are not so good, and every bit of eye-candy is ressource-hungry. FF14 retrofitted a lot of things or came with right from the start (e.g. soaked clothes right up to the point you were in actual water, e.g. just up to your waistline) or the shadows on Gridania's paths (forest area) that are caused by the flora (the trees) then I am always a bit annoyed that when I turn on shadows here, it starts to eat ressources like crazy or when I want to turn on water reflections on my Ryzen7 1700X/GTX1080 PC, I can't do that without getting FPS rollercoaster. GW2 is the only game which is hindered by its engine so much it's not even funny. On a side-note, I also hate the light is ALWAYS coming from top right, no matter what you do; character lighting is flawed, too. Excelsior.
  7. As a former software developer, you should know how to fix that.I think you just bring in your unnecessary Anti-arenaNet attitude in here, as if the firings have anything even remotely to do with you, a former (!) software developer. You never played the game apparently or just very little, kept in on the computer for years, and suddenly you use this fake reason to uninstall? Come on. Sorry, had to say that.Excelsior. (Delete the files and either look manually for the leftovers in the registry or let them be there. The entry in the appwiz.cpl can be removed later either by force or Windows realize itself that the program's not there anymore)
  8. Had massive (99%) package loss once, all went fine until Telia, too. What's with that? Can't they improve on that node?
  9. Get out. Really.I am just recovering from that terrible Deadeye bug-up and nerf that caused me to quit for 2 months and now you come up with that Charr dung?
  10. I'd like me to be the guy that saves the world. "Snaff Savant". Pah! It's probably a codename for "the college dropout"? Or is it because I skipped college to learn how to stab people in the back and how turn invisible that she thinks I should not bother with anything intelligent?I'd want to teach her a little bit of respect towards me. Or Catlock.
  11. First I could not really care since this game has no real penalty for death, but since my Asura is a Deadeye, it is just pure fun to watch people in areas that are tougher and assist them. Right now I do not really feel like advancing in the game, so I log in and usually watch new(er) players doing their thing. Occasionally I see one of them being surrounded and their health is, despite good gameplay, not recovering fast enough. Then I get off of my Springer, grab my sniper rifle and kneel down, waiting for malice to stack up. If he's not done, I'll let the bullets rain down. The feel of satisfaction in this is really outstanding, especially when he gets downed, you kill them off and if he does not get up from a tagget target that died, gliding down and get him up on his feet. These situations are awesome. However, about ressurection, sometimes I see a dead cat or Bookah and when I revive them, they are AFK or something, getting downed by randomly spawning Wargs. I can not guard that guy forever, so when I see it's in the middle of nowhere, I might also run past. Who would just sit there, waiting forever instead of waypointing back? In general is it okay to be cautious and not ressurecting everyone. Excelsior.
  12. I like outfits because I have two gear sets: My sneakthief leather clothes (with aviator shades) - and my Noble Count outfit. Before I had the noble set as substitute, and changing that took so much time. Now I turn on my Outfit when I am chilling / at the town and off when I am about to kill people. That saves so much time! Excelsior.
  13. Excelsior. The size of the ears and forehead is basically what cleavage is for heterosexual Bookahs. The bigger the better and that might help to find partners for mating. I don't think that would matter if they would lay eggs because you don't have much interaction with the other gender, and the size of the female's ears and/or forehead does not matter for the eggs. Also, the lore and idea about the Asura changed during development as revealed in a 2011 interview, and their physiology did also change a lot with that course of development. It took them a while to be the master race like what we have right now.
  14. Excelsior, I am Zedexx, Asura assassin and sniper, a.k.a. the AngelOfDeath™My current wallpaper. Several days on and off. 118 individual layers, mostly the splatters, some are down to 5% opacity. 142 MByte (!) uncompressed! Deadeye is beautiful in almost every aspect and and goes well together with my Asura. Since we steal now by using "black magic" instead of physically taking stuff from people (or ripping out poor Moa's feathers), being a mean, sneaky, 120cm AngelOfDeath kneeling on top of ledges or rooftops and land successful Death Judgments works very well. Due to our size, we Asura need to use guerilla tactics and shoot people (or Skritt) from afar. Being a highly skilled marksman also fits perfectly with a well-educated Asura, because instead of getting my hands dirty, I will let the bullets do the job: Precise, clean and quick. If things get tricky, I still carry my daggers or pistols with me all the time. If I am in (OST from "Death Sentence") I change my Noble Count outfit and its precious gold chains and brocade clothes and put on my black leather gear and shades...
  15. I think many advices are helpful, but just like everything, if you are used to it and don't know it otherwise, he will be fine as cat of any size in every content. I hear so much BS about being small - as Lalafell, Asura or Yordle - in video games and I always just wonder: "What are they talking about". The OP should play a kitty cat because we desperately need more Charr in this game. Do not discourage them with stuff he would not care about when he's a hardcore Charr fan. Excelsior.
  16. I think an AMA should be about asking ONE question, and get ONE answer. Something like a FAQ or so, THEN you can create little discussions out of it - if necessary at all. When I see reddit - a, in my opinion, horrible place in many aspects - there is so much nonsense to collapse that it works not better or worse than any other bulletin board style of boards. If it's a following question on something already answered, then it could be done using the regular quote feature. But every person adding one-liners, such as "+1", "yeah me too" and "KAPPA" is not something I want to have to collapse in the first place. Excelsior.
  17. The overall composition and camera angle, colour adjustment, choice of weapons and pose is very well done! This could be some character of a Japanese Dreamcast game or something, really like it!
  18. In general, I deal with two frustrating things during combat, not directly linked to the skill tooltips, but two other things that make me scream (I actually do) in anger: The game knows when you are in combat, so why would it display that my inventory is full. Now you could say that I just have to be careful, or change looting options or behaviour, but for some reason, this keeps happening, not sure what buttons I mash in the heat of the action (For a rifle Deadeye there are two parts of a fight: The one when I am the predator from afar sitting there sipping on my tea and wait for pulling the trigger, and the part when that fails and I gotta get more engaged in close combat. This particular scenario keeps happening in the latter scenario..) The wombo-combo of annoyance tops up with me pressing ESC in hectic to close it, but no, it makes me open the game's menu...Why would you spam a window in my face that does not respond to ESC? The ultimative "get out of anything" button with a self-describing name since 1985*? Excelsior. *Random year.
  19. Yep, have this problem since September, actually since HoT exactly. It's my first and only thread I created so far on this board, no real help.
  20. Well that is simply an opinion, one with no factual data at all that supports it. The data for WoW is also very distorted. It had a great fanbase for similar games, Blizzard already had a good reputation and there was barely any competition, especially if you wanted an U.S. game and not something from Asia (e.g. Final Fantasy XI). If you have no real choice like today, where F2P MMOs mushroom and you can choose between like 5 high-quality games, of course you get the highest market share. It has many players because it did something right and people got hooked en masse, but also dropped the game very quick with a certain expansion pack. Not sure if that is loayality or just the lack of choice. GW2 is "being born" into a different time than WoW. Guess why IBM grew so big. Surely not because they were super duper awesome. Lack of competitors.
  21. Excelsior. No, GuildWars2 is not even remotely close to go the same way of WoW.Today, people do care about two things: GraphicsDumbed-down gameplay <-> Mobile GamingGraphic-wise, GW2 is comparibly poor. And for what it delivers, the hardware usage is abysmal. In the armor thread (or basically anywhere else) when I see a GW2 screenshot I see disabled anti alias, subsampling, low texture quality, no post-processing etc. When I launch a game with a high-end graphic card like mine (GTX1080) and I get unstable framerates with graphics that are like 2006 for no reason, this drives people off. FF14 looks way better and ran fine on my GTX670 (!!). While in 2003, WoW people seemed mostly to care about a new MMORPG experience far from the ones we knew back then, and less about actual graphics (which was still a hardware killer for most). Today, people want a visual experience, too. They play nice-looking games on PC and console. Sitting on a PC with keyboard and mouse and a dated graphics like GW2s is what drives away many players - unlike WoW, where people did not care (yet) about such things. Gameplay-wise, I feel people do not want to actually spend time on something. I see people reading Dulfy guides all the way. Figuring out something by themselves as the challenge in itself? Nah. It took me once like 90 minutes to find the entrance of a dungeon below surface level, but I refused to look up guides. The world turns faster. People are overexcited and highly charged with their smartphones, 24/7 online, Facebook, Snapchat, permanent competition about who has the best lives and selfies with their food. Sitting down to play a game with coffee/tea and no Netflix at the same is outdated. GW2 takes time, you need to farm and grind often. And that is what people don't like today. Times have changed a lot, people love to "play" games on their 7" tablets - at least that's what the gaming industry want us to believe. WoW hasn't had this problem, people were still used to play in front of a PC. In overall, the gaming ecosystem has changed. It's not only the titles that video game developers are pushing out, it's also "where", "when", "how" and such. It's like comparing office work in the 1960s with a today's office.
  22. You are absolutely right with the first portion. It is the reason why they get up in the morning and leave the house. They will do something to keep the game running as long as possible instead of letting it die out of the nowhere.
  23. Excelsior. That mission was the first one where I really felt like I was playing an intense boss fight and I loved it.First of all, I could play Deadeye as he was supposed to be. I literally sniped the majority of the enemies down from afar, as my awesome profession is supposed to do.Then I walked in closer and caused some smaller fights. The boss fight was intense indeed, but it was a blast. I was downed several times but could get second winds every time and make it, and it felt like back in the 90s when the whole family, including my grandpa, was trying to beat Ghouls'n'Ghosts on the MegaDrive: Trying again and again, keep holding on while the sweaty controller has been moved around as if it was a joint in a Greenpeace meating. Probably because as sniper, I could control the fights better, but my AI mates did a good job. Was running a below-average build back then and thus was more fragile, but there is one big, good, hairy friend when it comes that, and I abuse him as much as I can: I cat kid you not, whenever I need someone to tank, I cause Rytlock to get angry (shoot one bullet at a mob, he brings his friends, our beloved Charr gets mad and picks the fight with them) and while he tanks, I shoot people in the back. It took me like 30, 40 minutes but it was pure enjoyment, and that's something I barely feel in today's games!
  24. I just know it as armour, colour, honour, etc. Or metre, centre, such little differences. At least one thing the German educational system did right...
  25. Ah, sorry, I've been a Bookah. It's a different game. Now that's weird. But I would not connect "Nirvana" with anything good though.
